This was the most gorgeous place to get married, I am still getting compliments on how beautiful our wedding and reception were. We got married under the oak tree at sunset and had...
the reception inside. Everything was decorated to perfection and set up just like the way I asked it to be! Angie was such a great help along the way, she is very informative and was able to answer any questions that I had whether it be same day or over the phone. For the price, everything was worth it.
Beautiful Venue!
Angie was great to work with through the Covid wedding insanity! She was available to chat consistently and was very communicative when I needed her. The bayless c...
enter was updated and wonderful. Obviously the property is gorgeous and magical. I wish the honeymoon suite that come with the venue was available at a decent time on the day of wedding, as we had to book it an additional night in order to get ready there. We were woken up before 8 am with leaf blowers and the next round of wedding parties for the following evening. Venue great, Angie was good to work with, little frustrating with accommodations, but would overall recommend RVW Gardens.
The most beautiful place around south Louisiana to have a wedding. Perfect scenery and Angie is wonderful time work with. Everything was perfect.
The whole experience with Rip Van Winkle Gardens was so easy and laid back. Angie answered every question and settled all my concerns. Everything was BEAUTIFUL that was their respo...
nsibility! I would do it all over again with them!
Rip Van Winkle Gardens is such a unique location and the gardens are absolutely beautiful. We absolutely loved being able to stay on the location after our reception. It made our n...
ight so much easier. Having access to the “get ready house” was worth the extra money, but we wished there was a spot to lounge. The room is set up with several tables and chairs but beyond that it is empty, so if you’re looking for a place to take get ready pictures this may not be the best choice. We loved it for hair and makeup and being able to spread out.
Our wedding day was perfect for us and we would love to give the venue 5 stars but we want to leave an honest review. This being said, I never even met the coordinator Angie except for briefly when we signed our contract. At that time, the venue had a different coordinator and Angie was training. She didn’t greet us when we went for the rehearsal, she didn’t say one word to us during the reception. She was in the process of taking over the role of coordinator from Jamie (the previous coordinator) and I never got a heads up that we had to have another meeting a month before the wedding date. We DID have our own day of coordinator so maybe that’s why she was more hands off, so I highly recommend hiring your own coordinator to make the night go smooth, because Angie’s job is more for organizing the venue’s workers not your own vendors.
There was also a stray dog roaming around the grounds that got in the middle of our pictures. He looked stray but was friendly enough. No one knew who he belonged to and he was RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the aisle as the procession went down….the entire ceremony. Angie was never around so we had no one to ask to remove the dog, and no one wanted to grab a dog that wasn’t theirs.
Like I said earlier, our wedding day was perfect for us and we loved the location and the cabin, but not being greeted by the venue’s coordinator and having a random dog crash the wedding are the reasons we decided to rate this venue 4 stars.
Absolutely outstanding place to get married! Jamie was there every step of the way and so supportive! This place is heaven on earth! My wedding was outstanding and everything I dre...
amt of and more!!!! Highly recommend them as your wedding spot;)
Beautiful location! Perfect backdrop for a wedding!
Do not count on their coordinator as your day of coordinator, was difficult to communicate with and a little unorganized.

Overall wonderful venue!!
It was a beautiful location, expensive, but gorgeous.
Truly the most beautiful location for a wedding, especially if the couple loves nature and the outdoors. Sometime the wedding coordinator was difficult to get in touch with, otherw...
ise it was perfect. Also, it is extremely pricy but it's worth it!
After months of searching for the perfect wedding venue, my fiance and I decided this was the place for us hands down. It was very important to me to have a garden wedding, and thi...
s is certainly one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful one in the state. My fiance loved the exotic feel of the gardens and that it also had peacocks, and we didn't mind the rather loud screeches of the beautiful birds even in the background of our ceremony. It also had restroom and kitchen facilities for our guests and vendors to use, whereas my other garden choice did not.
On the whole the lady who handles the wedding planning, Jamie, was very helpful and easy to work with. There were some initial frustrations with getting the contract signed (it took over two months), but I felt it was worth it. There was also some confusion on the day of, as my reception was set up to be outside and a photo shoot was also planned that day, but it was all sorted out and didn't really cause any major problems. Overall, my guests were also overwhelming in love with the venue and it seemed to be a hit with everyone.
My best advice is, if you want beauty, go with this place, it is worth it. Just be aware that lots of weddings take place here and that there may be some confusion along the way. I was treated a little rudely by another employee not associated with the wedding planning aspects, and I did witness the same employee telling a bride on the day of her bridal shoot to avoid being seen by the wedding guests that were there for that day's wedding. The photoshoot bride was upset, but the employee explained that she didn't want to upset the bride whose wedding was actually that day because they didn't want a second bride on the premises to upset her special day. I understood the logic, I guess, but I thought the employee could have been a little nicer and more tactful with her comments and that they could have been more upfront with her about that procedure before the shoot was scheduled.
I do want to end on a positive note though, by saying that the honeymoon suite cottage was very lovely and included in the package. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous and it was a perfect day and place for us. (We were really lucky with the weather.) Also, if you are willing to hold your wedding on any day besides a Friday or Saturday and keep your guest list small, you may be able to secure it for half price like we did.
A very memorable and a beautiful place to have a wedding.
I've always want to have my wedding outdoors. Being a true southern Louisiana girl, getting married under the oaks in front of the lake was just perfect. I rated this venue a 4 due...
to the lack of service we received on the wedding day. My coordinators had difficulty communicating with the people on the grounds who were unsure what to do at times. Also, I expected to be the only ones on the grounds however, be aware that the Cafe is open to the public until 3pm as well as the tour buses. And another FYI, be prepared to have a tent due to inclement weather, as RVW does not provide one :) Other than this few bumps, the wedding was beautiful and their coordinator was easy to work with--although sometimes forgetful to return phone calls.
Fairytale location! Fantastic staff!
This location is a great place for the wedding and reception. It really simplifies things to have the ceremony and reception in one location (no traveling for you or the guests, no...
limo, saves travel costs). The outdoor setting on the lake was gorgeous and the guests kept telling me that as well. The Bayless Center for the reception is pretty and you can really make it your own with the decor.
Had my reception here. Everything was a blur to me, but everything went well. Having my reception at Rip Van Winkle Gardens took a lot of stress off of me. The only thing I would h...
ave changed about my experience is that there was a stray cat on the porch that bit my new grandmother-in-law, which put a damper on some of the guests experience.
Also, the staff is nice but very hands-off. If you are a bride that needs the staff involved in every step, I would not recommend this venue. I planned everything myself and had no problems; it's more of a personal preference.
Rip can winkle helped me create my dream wedding! It was absolutely beautiful and Jamie- the wedding coordinator there was a doll and so much help! I highly recommend this venue:)
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL

randas, and the old world charm of southern Louisiana. We were married at sunset and the setting could not have been more spectacular. Included in the rental price is all day access to the gardens and facilities, all day use of the bridal/honeymoon cottage, lodging for the night, and tables, tablecloths, and chairs for the reception. There were a couple of drawbacks. You must get beverage service through RVW and it is expensive. If you need more than a certain amount of tables and chairs, they charge you for them. We had to pay to rent chairs from them for a 20-minute wedding ceremony, but were not allowed to bring the chairs inside the reception hall. As I mentioned, the cost of chairs for the reception is included in the rental price, but they were black plastic conference room chairs. If you want the really nice white or chivari chairs, you have to pay to rent them. Also, we had to pay a hefty fee for the caterers to use the kitchen to store food. In spite of the additional costs, it was well worth it and my wedding was more spectacular than I could have dreamed it would be.
