Dorris and Claire are beyond the sweetest vendors we’ve ever encountered! They are both so knowledgeable and you can tell they truly love what they do. The connection that is had between Dorris and the property truly tugs on your heart strings.

Oh. My. Goodness.
I am a girl of many words, I always have something to say about everything. To say this venue left me speechless is an understatement! From the kitchen / suite house to each individual bedroom (there are 11 and they are all individually air controlled) down to their very own beach front. This place is BEYOND anything we’ve ever experienced while looking for a venue. The cattle are the sweetest and have no problem showing off the babies that have been born in the beginning of the year.
The fort itself is stunning with one of if not the most beautiful barn area.
This place books fast and there is a very, very good reason for it.
5 stars is not enough credit for this venue and the love and care that is put forth here.
This venue is absolutely amazing to work with and so beautiful! I had the pleasure of planning our sorority’s annual barn dance here, and they were by far some of the most incredible people to help make that happen.
To start, the venue itself is just so physically beautiful. The barn was perfect for a live band and all the dancing we wanted to do. Being able to open the beautiful barn doors was such a great touch, and the venue had so many fun outdoor elements like yard games and fire pits where we could make s’mores.
The staff was also amazing at adapting throughout the night. As it got colder, they quickly opened up more indoor space and even moved tables during the event so we had more room to dance, which we really appreciated.
During our tour and walkthrough, they showed us the entire property, and it truly is stunning. After the event, every single girl in our sorority said this was the best barn we have ever used, and we are so excited that this will hopefully be our forever barn!
Thank you so much to the wonderful staff for helping make this happen, and especially Claire. She was incredible to work with!

Meet the team
- Dori DeJongOwnerDori grew up just south of River Fort Ranch on a dairy farm. She has fond memories of riding her horse “Goldie” along the South Platte River bottom and watching the same harvest moons and spectacular sunsets over the Rocky Mountains she witnesses today. As a child, Dori recalls daydreaming on top of a haystack, wondering what life would be like living in a city and traveling around the world in one of the jets she would watch circle above her as it made its descent into Denver. Forty years after those daydreams and a lifetime of adventures in the city, Dori returned to her roots when she and her family purchased River Fort Ranch in 2013. Previously, they had purchased one hundred acres of farmland directly to the east of the Ranch. That acreage had formerly been owned by her parents, Hank and Nadine DeJong, and prior to that her grandparents, Andrew and Muriel Hop, owned it. Dori’s son Caden looks forward to being the 4th generation steward of this special land. As a child, Dori loved living on the farm. She was active in 4-H and took pride in showing her Holstein cows at local fairs. She loved being in the field or in the barn with her dad. It is a privilege to get to return to her childhood home. After graduating from Platte Valley High School, Dori attended the University of Northern Colorado where she played basketball and volleyball. She later earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver College of Law. Several years later she returned to the University of Denver and obtained an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Daniels School of Business. After two decades of working with battered women as a social worker, legal advocate and attorney, Dori retired from the practice of law to manage River Fort Ranch full-time in 2013. Dori and her family feel honored to be able to share this amazing property with family, friends and new friends they look forward to meeting!
