We found River Hall Inn through the knot. We used them for our wedding ceremony, wedding reception, wedding dinner, and wedding dinner catering.
If I was leaving a review for only BEFORE the day of, I would do 2 stars I think (for Pamela Bradley and Claire Lopez). But the day-of went really well thanks to George Vaughn, and I would give him 5 stars.
Before the wedding, after we booked and paid for the venue, I emailed Claire to ask if we could do a video call walk through of the venue, and ask questions. We live in VA and the wedding was in TN, so this was the only way for us to actually see the venue beforehand. They do in person walk throughs with people that are interested in the venue or have booked the venue, so this seemed like a reasonable request. She declined and sent us a video and didn't answer half our questions. Then she left the company.
We didn't hear from anyone for 4 months. Then we started communicating with Pamela.
I sent a message on their portal system on 7-July, and received no response so I sent the same message via email on 13-July. (Our wedding was 6-Aug)
We received a phone call a couple days later in which Pamela had me repeat everything that I had asked in email. I did no problem, we talked for over 30 minutes where she answered some of my questions and promised to provide me with answers for the rest of the questions either that same day or the following.
I did not hear from her for 3 more days.
Then she called and said "Hi I'm not sure if we have talked yet about your upcoming wedding" and tried to repeat the exact conversation we had had previously. I told her we had already talked, and repeated the questions she had told me she would get back to me with.
She did not call back for a week.
At this point, I was very frustrated and my husband was seeing this, so he called her. We got some more answers and she followed up with an email. Each time we communicated with her it took more than two days to receive a response.
Finally we were told we could come at 8 am on the day of the wedding to set up our decorations and such by Pamela. We get there at 8 am and the building is locked with no one there. After about 30 min we finally find someone to let us in.
George got there at about 9:30 (I think) and it was pretty much smooth sailing after that. He and I found multiple instances where Pamela promised something and either didn't tell George (or anyone else) or simply provided fall information.
George ran his a"" off during the wedding dinner, making sure everything went perfectly.
One thing I was very disappointed about was the women's bathroom started leaking everywhere and it was not fixed that night, so our guests had to walk across the street to use the restroom.
There is also no bridal suite to get ready in, which seems like a very large design flaw. We ended up locking everyone out of the inside of the building and getting ready where the dinner was.
ALSO, the bartender was gone the majority of the night. Every time I looked at the bar he was gone. I found out later that he was actually helping in the kitchen, but I think the venue needs to give George more help because he was doing everything. And since the bar is not cheap I did not feel it appropriate for the bartender to not be behind the bar serving guests, and behind the bar even when there weren't guests in case someone wanted a drink.
