Riverwalk Event Venue – A Place for Any Story
Nestled atop a wooded bluff overlooking the Catawba River, Riverwalk Event Venue is one of the most enchanting destinations in the Charlotte Metro area for weddings, celebrations, and gatherings. Formerly known as Brakefield, our venue blends old-world European elegance with modern comfort and versatility, creating an unforgettable backdrop for every occasion.
Located within Riverwalk, a 1,000-acre live/work/play community in northern Rock Hill, South Carolina, the venue offers convenience and natural beauty in perfect harmony. Whether you're celebrating love, milestones, or team success, Riverwalk Event Venue is where stories come to life.
THE FACILITY
When guests arrive, they are welcomed by the venue’s grey stone and stucco exterior, framed with flickering gas lanterns and a grand Knotty Alder double-door entrance. Architectural details like soaring spired roofs and a signature turret reflect timeless European charm, while the interior boasts natural slate flooring, baroque-inspired lighting, and thoughtful design.
Riverwalk Event Venue offers:
Four private suites, each designed in neutral tones, making them inclusive, elegant, and ideal for all guests regardless of gender. These suites offer comfort for getting ready, relaxing, or gathering with loved ones before the celebration.
The Carriage House Suite, with panoramic river views, a wrap-around porch, and its own private entrance, is a favorite for couples or clients seeking privacy and tranquility before or during their event.
A stunning turret room with 20-foot ceilings and six tall windows, offering a dramatic and light-filled space perfect for pre-ceremony moments or one-of-a-kind portraits.
A richly furnished Green Room is available to wedding parties or as a private breakout space for speakers, vendors, or business teams.
A nearly 3,000 square foot Grand Hall, designed to accommodate both intimate gatherings and large-scale celebrations. Its classic aesthetic and flexible layout make it ideal for wedding receptions, formal dinners, or corporate events.
THE GROUNDS
Connected to the Grand Hall through five sets of eight-foot French doors, our 1,200 square foot covered patio opens onto the lush back lawn, offering panoramic views of the Catawba River. The surrounding grounds are beautifully landscaped and provide a peaceful natural setting for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and golden-hour photos.
Situated alongside a portion of the Carolina Thread Trail, guests can enjoy over two miles of riverside paths perfect for serene walks or scenic photography. This unique blend of nature and elegance makes Riverwalk Event Venue unlike any other in the region.

I can honestly go on and on about how beautiful, sophisticated and just aesthetically pleasing this venue is! Seriously, just walk through the front doors you’ll understand what I’m talking about! When my husband and I were scouting out venues we walked into Brakefield and took one look around and said to each other “this is it!!!” I Erin, the venue manager, is absolutely wonderful to work with and will make your wedding day special and memorable. This was literally a dream venue with a dream staff. Oh! And they host only one wedding at a time so the place is all yours for your special day!

g to settle on this one. The venue had everything we needed and we loved working with the manager, Kelly. The wedding day went smoothly even though it was freezing and windy that day. Kelly and her assistant put out the space heaters, which was so nice during cocktail hour. We would highly recommend this venue for anyone getting married with a guest list of around 160 or less. We planned for over 100, but Covid was not on our side that week. We had around 40 guests at the wedding including wedding party, but we fit nicely into the ceremony area and the reception. Oh and the beautiful river behind the ceremony added such as a nice aspect to our photos! The guests also loved this venue and had many great things to say about it!

It was tucked into the Riverwalk area. It reminded me of a castle. It was very well maintained and fairly a new venue.
There is a bridal suite, groom suite and an extra family room. The tables and chairs are included. There is a beautiful fireplace in the main room, large kitchen, nice outside bar and a separate carriage house you could rent if you're looking for extra space.

Kelly. She organized things to perfection. The venue is beautiful and many guests told us they loved the venue. What was great also is the price, and the flexibility to use vendors of your choice that our Event Planner Kelly worked with the entire time. The pressure of having to use pre-picked vendors was not there and we noticed at the 4 other venues we looked at prior to Brakefield, half of those did not allow that choice and you had to use their vendors. The bar service was the only thing they manage and it was reasonable and the packages are flexible, affordable. Nothing was unsatisfactory. It is a venue that is so beautiful, it does not require much additional decor to be absolutely beautiful. Our flowers and simple DIY signs and candles make a breathtaking event.
