Riverwalk Event Venue – A Place for Any Story
Nestled atop a wooded bluff overlooking the Catawba River, Riverwalk Event Venue is one of the most enchanting destinations in the Charlotte Metro area for weddings, celebrations, and gatherings. Formerly known as Brakefield, our venue blends old-world European elegance with modern comfort and versatility, creating an unforgettable backdrop for every occasion.
Located within Riverwalk, a 1,000-acre live/work/play community in northern Rock Hill, South Carolina, the venue offers convenience and natural beauty in perfect harmony. Whether you're celebrating love, milestones, or team success, Riverwalk Event Venue is where stories come to life.
THE FACILITY
When guests arrive, they are welcomed by the venue’s grey stone and stucco exterior, framed with flickering gas lanterns and a grand Knotty Alder double-door entrance. Architectural details like soaring spired roofs and a signature turret reflect timeless European charm, while the interior boasts natural slate flooring, baroque-inspired lighting, and thoughtful design.
Riverwalk Event Venue offers:
Four private suites, each designed in neutral tones, making them inclusive, elegant, and ideal for all guests regardless of gender. These suites offer comfort for getting ready, relaxing, or gathering with loved ones before the celebration.
The Carriage House Suite, with panoramic river views, a wrap-around porch, and its own private entrance, is a favorite for couples or clients seeking privacy and tranquility before or during their event.
A stunning turret room with 20-foot ceilings and six tall windows, offering a dramatic and light-filled space perfect for pre-ceremony moments or one-of-a-kind portraits.
A richly furnished Green Room is available to wedding parties or as a private breakout space for speakers, vendors, or business teams.
A nearly 3,000 square foot Grand Hall, designed to accommodate both intimate gatherings and large-scale celebrations. Its classic aesthetic and flexible layout make it ideal for wedding receptions, formal dinners, or corporate events.
THE GROUNDS
Connected to the Grand Hall through five sets of eight-foot French doors, our 1,200 square foot covered patio opens onto the lush back lawn, offering panoramic views of the Catawba River. The surrounding grounds are beautifully landscaped and provide a peaceful natural setting for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and golden-hour photos.
Situated alongside a portion of the Carolina Thread Trail, guests can enjoy over two miles of riverside paths perfect for serene walks or scenic photography. This unique blend of nature and elegance makes Riverwalk Event Venue unlike any other in the region.
A PLACE FOR ANY STORY
From “Yes!” to “I do,” retirement celebrations to holiday parties, team retreats to fundraising galas—Riverwalk Event Venue is more than a location. It’s a stage for your story, whatever that may be.

We had our June 2026 wedding at Riverwalk Event Venue. Being right outside of Charlotte, it was the perfect place for our day. Both the ceremony circle on the river and the ballroo...
m were beautiful and picturesque. The bridal and groom suites were a great size for our bridal party. The grounds were an incredible background for all of our wedding photos. Erin and her team were great to work with, and made sure our day turned out amazing.
Riverwalk Event Venue was the perfect reception venue for our wedding. It is a true hidden gem tucked away in the Riverwalk area of Rock Hill. There isn't anything else in the Char...
lotte area that offers this unique manor feel right on the river, and we were blown away the second we stepped onto the property. The building has so much natural character—including a beautiful stone fireplace, stunning bathrooms, and a lovely outdoor space that our guests utilized all night—so we didn't need to go overboard with décor. There are also three extra suites available for the wedding party.
A few notes from our experience:
• Outstanding Management: Erin, the venue manager, was incredibly helpful, organized, and on top of every detail throughout the whole planning process. While I had to chase down other vendors, I never had to worry with her. She kept me calm and completely earned my trust.
• Social Media Perks: They have an on-staff social/marketing coordinator who took behind-the-scenes photos and videos throughout the night and posted them to Instagram Stories and Reels. It was such a nice touch and allowed us to relive the day immediately while waiting for our official photo and video galleries!
• Hourly Rental Structure: My only critique is that they charge by the hour, meaning you don't get the venue for the full day. While I would have loved to use their beautiful bridal suite to get ready, it didn't make financial sense to pay for the extra hours just for that.
• Flexibility: Despite the hourly constraint, Erin was flexible and allowed us to drop off our décor and desserts prior to our official rental window start time.
I would highly recommend this venue to any Charlotte couples searching for an elegant, classic, and timeless reception venue!
The Brakefield at Riverwalk is situated on the Catawba River with an incredible view. The venue is elegantly decorated inside. I can't say enough good things about Erin, the event ...
manager. She is truly an angel. She is professional and kind. Everything ran smoothly. She definitely went above and beyond to make sure my event was perfect for me and my husband. I appreciate her so much! I received numerous compliments from my guests on the venue. If you are looking for a gorgeous venue, this is it!

day. Erin, the event manager, was incredible from start to finish. She was professional, kind, and truly went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly. Her attention to detail and calming presence made all the difference. We’re so grateful we chose this place for our wedding — highly recommend!
Erin is wonderful and takes such great care of the venue. This space is perfect for any event, especially intimate ones. I am so glad, I got married here! I would highly recommend!...

tand out. The process was super smooth, there was constant communication, and each step was handle professionally. I would recommend the Brakefield over and over to couples who want an environment that will feel intimate with your partner and guests!
We just had our wedding here on May 3rd and I cannot begin to tell you how beautiful, whimsical, romantic, and wonderful this venue is! (Even on a rainy day like our wedding was). ...
I can honestly go on and on about how beautiful, sophisticated and just aesthetically pleasing this venue is! Seriously, just walk through the front doors you’ll understand what I’m talking about! When my husband and I were scouting out venues we walked into Brakefield and took one look around and said to each other “this is it!!!” I Erin, the venue manager, is absolutely wonderful to work with and will make your wedding day special and memorable. This was literally a dream venue with a dream staff. Oh! And they host only one wedding at a time so the place is all yours for your special day!
This establishment is unwelcoming to couples that are same sex. Very rude and disrespectful.
SO incredibly happy that my husband and I chose this venue for our ceremony and reception! I was skeptical at first about it, but I knew the day we toured the venue that I was goin...
g to settle on this one. The venue had everything we needed and we loved working with the manager, Kelly. The wedding day went smoothly even though it was freezing and windy that day. Kelly and her assistant put out the space heaters, which was so nice during cocktail hour. We would highly recommend this venue for anyone getting married with a guest list of around 160 or less. We planned for over 100, but Covid was not on our side that week. We had around 40 guests at the wedding including wedding party, but we fit nicely into the ceremony area and the reception. Oh and the beautiful river behind the ceremony added such as a nice aspect to our photos! The guests also loved this venue and had many great things to say about it!
The venue is better suited for a spring or summer wedding, however, we had our wedding in January and made it work. The ceremony and reception were inside. The fireplace made a ni...
ce backdrop for the ceremony and the scenery outdoors was beautiful. Kelly was very helpful and accommodating and open to my last minute floor plan change. I would highly recommend.
We found this incredible venue by happenstance. A friend recommended The Brakefield and goodness I now know why!!

and overlooks the Catawba River. Our new married roots are being sowed in Fort Mill so this place was perfect to start our new beginning!!
Kelly Sanders is in charge of this venue and she is absolutely amazing!! She is organized and helped us plan exactly what we wanted. I am a detail person and she is too so it made the whole planning process easier.
We hired Kelly to assist us the month prior to the wedding and she was spot on!! She handled all communications and do not know what we would have done had we not hired her for this purpose!! This place was absolutely beautiful and perfect for us!! You will not be disappointed with the venue and Kelly’s services !! We highly recommend The Brakefield !!

nd high to make sure this was the best place for us. You're not supposed to buy the first thing you see, right? Well nothing was ever quite as impressive as Brakefield and we went back a few weeks later to work with them.
It was tucked into the Riverwalk area. It reminded me of a castle. It was very well maintained and fairly a new venue.
There is a bridal suite, groom suite and an extra family room. The tables and chairs are included. There is a beautiful fireplace in the main room, large kitchen, nice outside bar and a separate carriage house you could rent if you're looking for extra space.
The ceremony space was absolutely breathtaking, on the river.
Kelly is the exclusive month of coordinator with Brakefield. She was such a sweet lady to work with. I don't know how we could've done it without her. She's very accommodating and a joy to work with.
We were both very happy with selecting Brakefield as our wedding venue. I'd recommend them to everyone.
The venue is goregous. I fell in love with the view and charm the moment I saw it. Carol, the owner, was great to work with and she was always available when I needed her. They ...
have great list of other vendors for those who haven't been planning their wedding for years. They had the most flexible bar options of any of the venues I looked at and being that the venue is so intimate, only one event is scheduled a day. With a fabulous view of the river, this venue looks good no matter the season.

Perfect! We had our daughter's wedding here on June 17th and it was everything we hoped for! Everything we wanted was done to perfection. I highly recommend their event planner, ...
Kelly. She organized things to perfection. The venue is beautiful and many guests told us they loved the venue. What was great also is the price, and the flexibility to use vendors of your choice that our Event Planner Kelly worked with the entire time. The pressure of having to use pre-picked vendors was not there and we noticed at the 4 other venues we looked at prior to Brakefield, half of those did not allow that choice and you had to use their vendors. The bar service was the only thing they manage and it was reasonable and the packages are flexible, affordable. Nothing was unsatisfactory. It is a venue that is so beautiful, it does not require much additional decor to be absolutely beautiful. Our flowers and simple DIY signs and candles make a breathtaking event.
We knew as soon as we saw this venue it was perfect for us! Carol and Kelly were awesome to work with from the start, and made sure our day went perfectly! The view is beautiful, a...
ll of our guests couldn't stop raving about the venue and the views. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an outdoor venue with a view of the water:)

people keep their homes!! It is just the most beautiful venue and I could not have asked for a better place to celebrate my wedding! Thank you for the most amazing day of my life!!
This space is beautiful if you do nothing to it! I had a wedding outside in September. If you're having a wedding around that time and plan on having it outside, I would suggest ...
having it at or after 5:30p. The sun was pretty intense and in the eyes of the preacher and the wedding party until about 5:30.
As for inside, I had simple table centerpieces and my pictures turned out wonderfully. Carol was a pleasure to work with - we had no complaints or issues whatsoever.
Had my wedding at Brakefield April 2014 and the place is so beautiful! The river rushing in the background where you say your vows makes it so peaceful and romantic! The owner, Car...
ol, is very kind and helpful throughout your journey in regards to the venue and answering questions. The inside of the venue is so pretty so minimal decor truly needed. Love it and would recommend anyone in the charlotte, rock hill or surrounding areas check it out! More beautiful in person than even the pictures!
