Rixey Manor is a private 1801 estate where you can have the entire property from Friday through Sunday. Not a venue you rent by the hour. Not a place where another wedding is setting up next door. Just 30 acres of Virginia countryside that belongs entirely to you and whoever you've chosen to share it with.
The manor is historic without being precious - wide plank floors worn soft by two centuries, a library with deep sofas and a real fire crackling, 20 crystal chandeliers catching afternoon light in the ballroom. French doors open onto stone patios. Upstairs, hand-hammered copper tubs and antique mirrors make you feel like relaxing royalty. The terrace - 2,800 square feet of open sky - faces west, which means sunset turns the horizon copper and pink behind the mountain views while you take photos that will last longer than a lifetime.
Outside, horses graze in the pastures. There's a tree swing, a butterfly garden, and ceremony sites from the carriage steps with lake views to a clear tent under the stars. You're not performing for anyone here. No rigid timeline, but all weddings are curated by you and an experienced team to flow effortlessly.

Host a casual rehearsal dinner on Friday. Get ready slowly on Saturday, surrounded by people who know you best. Rixey Manor absolutely MADE our wedding!! A few bullet points that make this venue a true standout:
1) The Rixey team! Isadora is a wedding wizard. She helped ease our anxieties, ...
make hard decisions, and manage tricky family dynamics. Her experience and confidence in leading with/sharing that experience helped offload our decision fatigue. She has recruited a team of fun, down-to-earth people who do world-class work. She also made the weekend fun, fun, and nothing but fun.
2) The venue is stunning. It's the only backdrop you need! My heart skipped a beat every time we rounded the corner and saw the house on the hill.
3) Having the venue for the whole weekend meant that we could really relax and enjoy the company of our loved ones without feeling stressed about rushing in or being out on time.
4) The coordination on the wedding day is seamless! Things are done on (or ahead) of time and truly better than I could have imagined. We ran into an issue with our flowers being delivered almost completely closed/not bloomed, and the Rixey team worked a miracle to save the floral situation. I get the sense that they're excellent at solving the "something always goes wrong" things without raising your anxiety level at all (most of the time I don't even think you know about the things that go wrong)
5) Tons of flexibility -- you can choose basically any caterer, you can bring your own alcohol, tons of options for where to host the ceremony/reception. This is especially nice because there are really solid rainy day options!
TLDR: If someone said "you can only choose ONE thing to do exactly the same for the wedding and everything else HAS to be different", I would choose Rixey as my one thing 100% of the time.

l weekend makes for a logistical dream. The manor is gorgeous and the property is peaceful and serene. The Rixey team simplified the planning process, gave us confidence and support for our vision, and gave us the perfect wedding.
Isadora gave us a great planning binder with guidance on vendors and info on how to scale and budget appropriately. This knowledge goes beyond what you get from Reddit because it’s based on real experiences from Rixey weddings with the same recommended vendors. We went with her list and they were all SO good! We do think costs jumped during 2025 because the binder estimates were about 20-25% low vs final cost. FYI if you are serving alcohol at the wedding reception you need shuttles, which are expensive.
Another helpful thing was Rixey Bootcamp. Bootcamp was a one-day event hosted for all the booking couples where the Rixey staff and some of the preferred vendors just knowledge-dumped and answered questions. The seminar expanded on the binder and added a lot of helpful anecdotes and advice. Being able to meet the other couples and compare notes was really nice too.
Isadora was there for us the whole way from January ‘25 to the wedding in November! By text or email we always had our questions answered. The value of having help from someone who has done this over 350 times cannot possibly be overstated.
We booked the whole weekend for a rehearsal dinner Friday and ceremony & reception Saturday. The Rixey staff went above and beyond. We containerized all our decorations and they did the rest. On Friday they set up everything for the rehearsal dinner while Isadora ran us through the ceremony rehearsal. The dinner was beautiful and we were able to relax and focus on visiting with our guests.
On Saturday we had ample time for breakfast and the ladies had plenty of time for hair and makeup. We’re usually anxious people, but because the Rixey team took such good care of us we were able to actually relax and take in the day. We didn’t expect that to happen, and it was priceless. The ceremony was beautiful. Afterwards, we hurried through photo groups, then went out into the field behind the house to read our vows in private. The moment was quiet, the vows were full of love, the sun was just setting under the mountains, and my wife was perfect. The memory of that moment is something we’ll treasure forever.
The reception was a blast! We had a delicious dinner, an UNBELIEVABLE cake, and a phenomenal DJ (use her recommended vendors!!). Vibes were immaculate. All our guests had so much fun and we enjoyed a truly magical evening.
The staff handled cleanup afterwards and we had a chill evening with our wedding party before spending the night in the manor. The house is comfortable and familiar; we felt very at home. Late checkout Sunday meant we had time for breakfast, to visit the cows and horses, and to tie a bow on the most special weekend of our lives.
In summary, if you love Rixey Manor when you visit book them with confidence. You can’t possibly go wrong with Isadora’s wisdom and talent, the lovely manor, and the beautiful grounds. I promise you will be so thankful that you did, just like we are.
We can’t thank Isadora, Grace, and the team enough for supporting us the whole way and making everything absolutely perfect for our gorgeous wedding.

ora, the owner, made us feel like we had known her our whole lives. The weeks leading up to our event were stressful with nailing down all the details, but Dora and the manager Grace were quick to reply to all our last minute questions (via text!) and helped us make sure everything was ready. Grace and Dora kept me sane the whole weekend and were incredible during the actual wedding. Staying on site for two nights helped alleviate the stress of where to hold our rehearsal, and being able to get ready in the manor was perfect. The wedding itself was gorgeous and being able to borrow decorations from the venue’s “borrow cottage” helped eliminate unnecessary costs. I’ll be recommending this venue to all my friends who get married in the future.

ary Poppins! Our out-of-town guests marveled at the Virginia views as we hung out on the rooftop terrace. Rixey Manor's "borrow shed" stores all sorts of helpful items that will keep you from getting nickled-and-dimed by every Pinterest whim (signs, vases, candleholders, etc), items donated from other weddings. They even kept my first look prank a perfect secret right up to the moment! You provide the alcohol, they provide the (*excellent*) bartenders. We took so much wine & liquor back home, but it was nice not to waste it. They accommodated our food truck wedding vision and had great vendor recommendations. Friday and Saturday night, we had guests sleep in their cottage and additional spare bedrooms in the manor. It's built into the cost and is a great way to stay close to your loved ones. In fact we utilized every room: a custom puzzle on the coffee table in the living room for our introverts, karaoke in the library... we even stopped to pet the cows down the driveway. It felt like home, but decadent and elevated, with NOT a care in the world.

From the moment we booked, Isadora and Grace were amazing—accommodating, knowledgeable, extremely responsive, and helpful answering any questions we had and offering much needed guidance. There’s no need for a separate wedding planner because they are an exceptional team! They provided excellent vendor recommendations, seamlessly coordinated every detail, and made the entire planning process feel manageable and smooth. They really thought of everything to make our wedding day unique and special!
We had the entire manor for the weekend, from Friday through Sunday, which included beautiful bedrooms where some of our family stayed and it felt so special that we could all stay together and celebrate. And the guest house where the groomsmen stayed and got ready was very helpful and so much fun! This made the experience feel like a full, immersive celebration. We held both our rehearsal dinner and welcome party at the manor, which made everything convenient for our guests and was the perfect way to start our wedding weekend.
Our ceremony was originally going to be outdoors in front of the manor, but rain forced us to move it to our tented reception area. Isadora and Grace handled this change in plans with such ease, ensuring that our wedding was still beautiful, stress-free, and magical—rain or shine. They quickly transitioned everything so our reception could also take place on the scenic patio, where elegant decorations and stunning views created theperfect atmosphere.
Rixey Manor is much more than just a beautiful venue. The manor itself is a treasure, with its ballroom, cozy library, fireplaces, and a charming rooftop veranda where guests can hang out and enjoy incredible views. It felt like a home away from home, but with all the elegance of a high-end venue. The staff, including the friendly and attentive bartending team, made us and our guests feel so special.
I got ready at the manor with my bridal party—15 bridesmaids, plus family members—and it was such a great experience! The team thought of everything and provided everything we needed to be prepared for the day. They were also great with children, helping our two flower girls feel welcome and comfortable.
If you are considering Rixey Manor for your wedding, absolutely book it! You will be taken care of every step of the way. You’ll be surrounded by stunning scenery and cared for by a team who genuinely wants your day to be perfect. wn venues from 100+ options due to the robust suggested vendor list allowing for flexible budgeting while making the process of planning a wedding smooth and realiable, but really, it’s the staff, especially Isadora, that made the venue the right choice. We had a moment where there was an absolute downpour as guests were going from the tent to the ballroom for dinner, and Isadora stood there with an umbrella sticking up and out for them and getting absolutely soaked through. She goes above and beyond because she seems to genuinely care about each wedding she chooses to host in a way we didn’t feel in any of the 20+ venues we toured. She took the time to understand family dynamics, keep an eye on elderly relatives requiring assistance, and helped me feel like I didn’t have to worry about any of the day of details once the ball started rolling. Isadora, our wedding coordinator and venue owner, was experienced and wonderful to work with - she relieved so much of the stress leading up to and on the day of our wedding by coordinating with our vendors and keeping us up-to-date on any changes. Each member of the team went above and beyond for us in order to make sure we enjoyed the day together. From helping us deal with other vendors throughout the whole weekend, to setting up all the decor, to helping me and my wife do up our bustles before the reception, they treated us with kindness and attentiveness and we felt so taken care of. As an LGBT+ couple we felt so safe and loved by the team that from the very first visit on the property we knew that this was the venue for us. Everyone who comes on to the property, whether it is a vendor or guest, can feel the professionalism and care that each team member has. We had a great experience with Rixey and for the context of this review we had a 150 person wedding a 48 person rehearsal dinner and a 120 person welcome party all at the manor.

Isadora feels like your kind neighbor who lends you her home for your wedding. There is no “fine print” she is very upfront about what you can and can’t do and she really does let the world be your oyster. She always feels like you’re talking to a real person and not a sales person. She will not hound you about anything and really is good at just making sure the big parts are taken care of as you wish and then she fields the small stuff.
The venue is a blank canvas. For me this was the best and worst part. The best part was we could do anything. The worst part was we could do anything and your mind changes so much in a year and a half. The home was built in the 1800s and you can use it as is, or dress it up. Rixey was SO kind to let us decorate or take down what they had in the house to let us feel like everything felt more like us.
My goals/ priorities going into wedding weekend were:
1. Be with people as much as possible
2. Flexibility
3. Be able to stay on the premise/ friends and family stay with us
4. Not be limited to an xx-hour timeline for the whole weekend where all your things need to be in and out by strict times.
5. Bring own vendors & alcohol (This saved us THOUSANDS, probably 10s of thousands actually.)
Rixey really got us with the “basically it’s an Airbnb with a wedding venue attached” and honestly it felt like just that.
I had spreadsheets of venues from PA/ MD/DC/VA and Rixey was the only venue we could have Thursday- Sunday, bring in all our own vendors & sleep 12-18 people on the premises. (ideally, we wanted to have more people on the premises, but such place does not exist in our price range) Everywhere else that could house more people were resorts or hotels that got you stuck into vendor packages that ate up your wedding budget like it was an appetizer.
Isadora brought us in gave us some vendors she used in the past and liked. Some worked very well for us, others were not our style and that’s okay! She is not offended in the least. She was able to give us $, $$, or $$$ she does not have any incentive to push any vendor on you. She tells you who she likes and it’s up to you, if you use them.
Her helpers- she has extra sets of hands, who again feel like friends and family of hers that help your wedding weekend go as planned, from filling up water jugs, to tapping beers, setting up tables, cleaning off tables, dishes, boxing or unboxing stuff, giving out tips, making our bud vases. We literally just handed her the boxes of things on Thursday and they were all set up by Friday at the rehearsal dinner.

agined our best day happening anywhere else - from the small and intimate details of the house to the beautiful landscape surrounding it - it was a perfect oasis for what turned out to be a perfect day.
The entire team was focused on our vision for the day and worked closely with our vendors. We relied on their expertise through the entire wedding planning process and they are there to support you in all aspects of your marriage. f were incredible, making sure our wedding went as smoothly as possible. Isadora and Grace were both exceptionally professional, kind, and courteous to us, our vendors, and our guests. They accommodated all of our requests throughout the planning process and during our wedding.
We were especially amazed at how much backend work Rixey handled for us including setup, teardown, and wrangling of vendors. We didn't need to worry about any of that and everything came out perfectly.
They also made absolutely sure that we were comfortable throughout. They kept us fed, helped the bride get ready, and regularly checked on us to make sure we were okay.
On a more personal note, Isadora and Grace also went above and beyond with all of our floral needs, helping us put together our arbor flowers and a new beautiful bouquet for the bride with some of our spare flowers.
At Rixey, you're in the hands of real pros who want your wedding to be perfect and are ready to go the extra mile to make sure that happens. Highly recommended. :)

er, but Rixey made it seamless, stress-free and in a word - epic! Isadora and her team provided flawless vendor recommendations from the start, quickly making our vision a reality.
Originally, we planned to marry at a large hotel, but Covid forced us to replan a few years later. I'm beyond thankful we found Rixey Manor instead. Its intimacy and our personal connections with the team made our wedding so much more meaningful.
One of our favorite aspects was staying in the Manor during our wedding weekend, which made the experience personal and easy. Isadora and her team make the venue feel like a home away from home, perfect for the rehearsal dinner, wedding, and goodbye brunch. We loved the venue's flexibility for our lawn ceremony, rooftop cocktail hour, tented dinner, and ballroom dance party. Rixey Manor can accommodate various visions effortlessly. The venue is breathtaking both in person and in our pictures.

They were flexible and quick to help reorganize our rehearsals when our plans changed last minute. Isadora and Grace took away all of the stress me and my now husband had. They made me feel so cared for and so important. They went above and beyond to make me, my husband & our families feel like royalty. Everyone kept mentioning to us how impressed they were at how professional and thoughtful Isadora and Grace are.
Isadora made sure that I felt important and helped me with absolutely everything that day. She completely took charge of the day and all me and my husband had to do was show up.
My 2nd dress strap kept breaking and Isadora was always there fixing it and she always did it graciously.
I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people on my wedding day.
The Rixey team is honestly a bunch of very special people who genuinely love what they do and they show so much love to the bride and groom. I also want to add that they were so attentive, caring and helpful when it came to my parents who both have a disability.
I can go on for hours about how much I appreciate and legitimately care about Isadora and Grace.

tails. From the first meeting she guides you into the most beautiful one-of-a-kind event. Taking your dream ideas and making them come true seamlessly. The day of the event was absolutely perfect. As the Mother of the Bride, I would love to sit in on the debrief to see how many fires they had to put out with no one noticing.
Isidore should be very proud of her business and the team she has assembled. They may think they only provide a fabulous setting for a wedding and party, but what they actually provide is a lifetime of memories in giving these couples a sensational start to their lives together.

tails including the endless options for beautiful photos. Farm and mountain backdrops as well as the Juliet balcony off the bridal suite for brilliant group shots.
Facilities had all you need for the receptions (kitchen, bar, patios). There are also multiple places for the wedding party to sleep rather than having to schlep from hotel to venue and worry about driving, set up, and break down at different locations. One stop shop.

s of finding an AirBNB or hotel for us to stay and get ready at and we didn't have to worry about getting home afterwards. The Rixey Team were very friendly and made sure everyone was having a good time.
Rixey appears to be secluded when in reality it is not far from civilization. The views around the venue are beautiful and there a lot of opportunities for photos with gorgeous backdrops. The Manor itself is timeless and elegant, while still preserving the history of the house. We would definitely recommend Rixey!

not have done it without the Rixey team, I am being completely honest.
They were aware that a very dear family member was ill and that we were in search of a venue that would allow us to move quickly. They not only made it possible, but they ensured we had no additional stress added to our plates. I've always heard the wedding planning process can be overwhelming, stressful --brutal at times. Our experience was the complete opposite. The Rixey team walked us through what to prioritize. They asked us questions about what we wanted -- not what we thought was expected of us. And they gave us our dream wedding in 41 days.
I think it's important to note that on top of this, they also seamlessly solved problems that arose and we were none the wiser until after the wedding -- when everything had already been handled. They are the most compassionate team you could ever dream of. They are so prepared you are able to breathe and enjoy your day knowing they're in your corner.
Thank you Rixey team!!! I don't think you will ever know how much your dedication, compassion, and support have meant to my husband and I.

The owner and her team work tirelessly to ensure a perfect experience for the bride and groom and all attendees. My daughter is very picky and she could not be happier with how her wedding turned out.
The setting is beautiful - there are indoor and outdoor options based on your needs.

We were sold when we first laid eyes on the venue itself, but after meeting with Isadora, this team deserves to be in the pantheon of the all-time greatest wedding vendors. The Rixey team knocked it out of the park during our wedding weekend AND they were crucial resources throughout our planning process. From their excellent organization skills to their bridal bootcamp events, this team helped us to feel so confident and secure going into our wedding. Our wedding party also loved staying at the manor, and it's all thanks to Rixey's amazing team. We cannot recommend them enough!

d resources leading up the wedding including recommending other incredible vendors and a whole planning handbook. They only do one wedding per weekend and having that extra time to settle in and set up was invaluable to minimizing our stress. Their on-site coordinator is included and having a coordinator who is intimately familiar with the venue and could lead our vendor team was so incredibly helpful. Isadora and her team work hard to make each wedding unique and are super accomodating. They let couples use anything in their (quite extensive) decor collection and even coordinated a hot chocolate bar, blankets, and hand warmers for our unseasonably cold wedding. We really can't recommend them highly enough, especially as a queer, polyamorous couple having a jewish ceremony. If you're looking to have a personalized, homey feel for your big day and are considering Rixey Manor, book them ASAP!!

g seemed to be falling apart at one point. They turned what was supposed to be an outside wedding into a beautiful wedding inside, you would have never known that there was a change. Isadora took charge and every aspect was covered. They had amazing suggestions for caterers including a donut truck for the morning after the wedding. The house is beautifully decorated and allows for ample room for guests. The down stairs couch is really comfy and a great place for a “surprise” guest. Should I ever get married (which would require a second date) Rixey Manor, Isadora and her team will be at the top of my list. Being in the food and beverage industry for 18 years myself, Isadora is a breathe of fresh air- she truly cares which a very rare thing in this industry anymore!

of amazing vendors to recommend who they’ve worked with extensively, making all of our venue-vendor interactions completely seamless. The venue itself is beautiful and was the perfect backdrop for the ceremony of our dreams. We loved that there were opportunities for guests (in our case, our wedding party and our dog/ringbearer) to stay together at the manor over the weekend. It’s rare to find a venue such as Rixey which offers you both complete flexibility and enough support to make all of the right choices for your wedding. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Not only did our vision come to life, but we were super comfortable, and fell in love with the manor. It is absolutely stunning, tucked away from the busy world, while being completely accessible to guests. Quaid can transform Rixey into any wedding vision you have. He made our black tie event come to life. It was even more perfect than we imagined. We would not have had the wedding we did without Quaid. He has a go to for every wedding necessity! From our cake to the dress to the wedding favors, Quaid made sure every detail was the best it could be. The weekend of our wedding Quaid had every "t" crossed and every "i" dotted. Nothing was left out, every detail was attended to, and our friends and family had the best time. He even helped make sure our kids were taken care of when we needed a hand with a car seat issue! Not only did we have the wedding of our dreams, but Quaid will be a friend for life, and Rixey our favorite home away from home. We could not recommend Rixey Manor more.
