eet with trees in the background that make it look like we’re in a far away park. We are a lesbian couple and I was so hesitant hiring a male photographer, and he was so wonderful with us. I was so concerned that he would be uncomfortable with us with us showing affection, etc. In an industry that can feel very challenging to navigate as a queer couple, we hit the jackpot. All of the prompts he gave were easy and our photos are absolutely stunning. I can’t recommend him highly enough. So thrilled to have worked with him.

biz for awhile. He knew all the right questions to ask. He had great suggestions for a fun and smooth wedding day. He made it clear that he was invested in us as a couple. He listened carefully to what we had to say. He cared to know about family drama (even if minimal) so he could do whatever was in his capacity to make everyone, especially us, as comfortable as possible. Come wedding day, he really was the one vendor we spent the most time with. He did his homework ahead of time, picking places to take photos. He was able to navigate our wedding venue (our house) to find my shoes, ring, and dress to photograph without bothering anyone. When we were ready to take couple photos, Robert was so efficient. He knew exactly where he wanted us and how he wanted to take to pictures. He was patient as we asked for many different family and friend photo combinations. Robert likes to capture people in the moment rather than in poses, which creates for great shots. But even when we did poses, he made sure our posed photos looked as natural as we could. Robert has a great eye for detail, which showed in his presentation. He was creative with backgrounds, making a small grove of trees look like a forest or people in the background into small fuzzy objects. He worked quickly! We were surprised when we got to see our photos only 1 week later when he featured our best pics on his wedding blog. A couple weeks later, he provided us the full set of pictures online as well as sent us a USB with all of our photos nicely organized. The packaging of the USB was so thoughtful and special. He included a lovely note, the USB was in jewelry box with a personalized tag on it, and he included a few prints for us to enjoy. As if this wasn't enough, where he went above and beyond was when our wedding reception started and the rain came pouring down. Even though our reception was under a tent, it was not exactly rain proof in some parts. Robert jumped right in there lending a hand, keeping the band dry, helping the caterers rearrange the flow of the evening, and checking in on me and reassuring me that everything is under control. He got SOAKED in the process but didn't let that bother him. He was always professional and cool, and even more amazingly, good natured through it all. So many people recognized ad commented to us about how above and beyond he went. And on top of that, we have received so many compliments on how amazing our pictures were. We were honored to have such an awesome person be part of our day and capture our most important moments. I would not hesitate to hire Robert again for any special occasion.

This time we wanted to ensure that the photographer we found was professional and credible, so we started our search on Yelp. We reached out to the top 3 photographers with the best reviews and felt moved by their work; Robert was the quickest to respond. After a brief phone conversation and receiving our quote, my husband and I felt connected and ready to move forward with Robert to do our engagement photos. We met Robert in downtown Seattle and started our day taking photos at P.F. Chang’s China Bistro (where my husband and I met). We took photos in front of the restaurant as well as inside at a booth, and although my husband doesn’t ever like being posed for photos, he felt at ease and comfortable with Robert. We continued the day at Pike Place Market and ended by the waterfront as the sun set. Our engagement photos were so amazing, we could not have dreamt for any better. Robert had a way to allow both of us to be ourselves and to capture our true personalities in print. We were relaxed, and the photos reflected that. We had a hard time choosing which one to use for our save the date, but settled for one that showed the P.F. Chang’s sign, since that’s where it all began for us. Once we received our engagement photos, we knew that we wanted Robert to do our wedding photos. We had a destination wedding in California, but were willing to pay the price to have Robert travel because we wanted our pictures to turn out great the first time around. Needless to say, we called Robert to secure him down for our big day. He was available, and happily agreed to do our wedding. He had never been to our venue before, however we trusted his eye and his ability to quickly find the best locations to take great photos. We provided Robert with a list of photos we wanted taken the morning of the wedding, family photos after the wedding, and left the rest to his creativity. My husband had a fun time joking with Robert as he was taking our romantic sunset photos—that’s how comfortable my husband felt with him. We both loved our experience working with Robert and even more so loved all of our pictures. He did not miss any detail and has a sense of humor that anyone could get along with. We highly recommend Robert Paetz to anyone in search for a great photographer to capture their special day with honesty, clarity and a little bit of laughter. like I had 2 more wedding planners with them because they knew exactly what they were doing. They are very quick with both communication and editing. We had our sneak peak within days of the wedding. I felt very comfortable with them, which is huge, because if you're not comfortable, it shows in your pictures! I can't stress enough how great Robert and Felicia are. You won't be disappointed!

Robert has an artful eye, and while we had our criteria, we were very confident in giving him the creative license to put his talent to work. Both engagement photos at Gas Works Park in Seattle and wedding photos at Treehouse Point were wonderful and captured our essence, emotion and the special moments of our big day just beautifully. We love photos that capture textures and light and which can be pieces of art, and Robert delivered. It was right up his alley. In exchange, he articulated his unique point of view and perspective. We appreciated the time and care he invested in getting to know us as a couple. This resulted in very personalized and artistically produced photos. Robert is wonderful and fun, and is able to create a very comfortable environment without compromising professionalism. He remembered all the little requests we had made on the big day (make sure to get that family member, make sure to get the miniature pony, etc.). He's also a delight to be around. I remember feeling a little anxious the morning of and I was relieved to have Robert come in and start directing the bridesmaids in a fun photoshoot. location. He's a photographer so you could imagine that the "standard posed wedding photography" wasn't going to work. We went into this vendor search process just wanting good products -- but with Robert and Felicia, it was an awesome surprise that not only could we get the amazing photos but ALSO two easy-going, fun people with whom we could enjoy our wedding!! We were planning our Los Angeles wedding from the east coast so we started this journey with a phone call. It wasn't all about just the prices and a list of products, but they helped us talk through our vision of the entire day. The whole conversation eventually became a discussion of all sorts of wonderfully random things both wedding-related and not. By the end of the phone call, we had a basic timeline and the certainty that these two photographers *needed* to be at our wedding. The first time we met them in person was at our engagement shoot a few months before our wedding. Felicia was my contact person for this and I had a pretty clear vision. She was so open to and excited for my ideas -- I became extra excited that someone else loved my ideas! The first meeting was amazing for several noteworthy reasons: 1. They let us shoot at two different locations with two different themes. 2. Robert bust out some amazing Eagle Scout abilities to set up our rustic tent setting. 3. You know the times when you meet some new people, you just click, and you can totally imagine being friends? Yep, it was like that for me -- which made me really comfortable during the shoot. On our wedding day, they were at the venue early and despite all the craziness, they were cool, calm, and collected. It also helped tremendously that Felicia could speak to my family in Chinese! Within a few days, we received our sneak peak of a handful of images, which we really loved! About a month later, we received our full set of photos in an online gallery and a cute little package with our USB drive included! The photos are amazing and it will be hard to decide which ones to print for our house! They really make it a point to include personal touches, and that meant quite a lot during the whirlwind of long-distance planning and the whirlwind of actual wedding day!!

in between, Robert and Felicia were professional, warm, thoughtful, and full of such great energy! We knew within seconds of seeing them on our video chat that we HAD to have them as our photographers for our wedding! This was one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning process. Their pictures are of such incredible quality, and Robert and Felicia are remarkably easy to work with. We had never had a photoshoot before, and Robert and Felicia made us both feel so comfortable- we had so much fun at both shoots (engagement and wedding). Thank you, Robert and Felicia, for capturing our love in such a beautiful way. We are so grateful for your awesome personalities and incredible talent! And we're glad to say that we have 2 new friends from this process!

n 5 years we feel the need to get more pictures of us, we will definitely be going back to Robert. From the first contact Robert was quick to respond to my emails and promptly worked to set up a time to meet in person or via Skype. We set up a meeting in Anaheim (which was quite a trek for him) and we immediately knew he was the right photographer for us. He was friendly, easy-going and so much fun. He was a great fit for us! We were a bit concerned about wedding photos because my husband and I are not photo people. I think we had 3 photos of us in existence before the wedding. We don't pose and take photos...its just not us. Robert assured us he could work well with us, despite our general aversion to posing...and he didn't disappoint. Robert stayed in contact before the wedding, and had a final phone call to make sure we were all on the same page. The day of the wedding he arrived early with his awesome assistant Kenny (although I'm still sad we didn't get to meet Felicia!). They acquainted themselves to our home/property and got to work. They were fun, polite and just great to work with. We did all our formal photos before the wedding and Robert has an amazing eye for what will make a great photo. He took photos in areas of our property that wouldn't have even occurred to me and the results are just incredible. He didn't try to pose us, he just had us talk and laugh and kiss and the photos turned out amazing! We then got the families/wedding party together and Robert quickly and efficiently worked through our rather large combination of families. He and Kenny got all sorts of great moments during the ceremony and reception without being obtrusive at all. He also reminded us when it was time to take some sunset photos and a couple other important moments throughout the day (we didn't have a wedding planner). He also gets into some amazing places for photo opportunities...on the ground, in the bouncy house, there may have been a forklift...he just does it all in stride! The sunset photos are some of my favorites! He has some incredible methods to create gorgeous effects. Everyone keeps raving about how perfect the colors are. He got us a teaser the SAME DAY of the wedding, blogged an additional 20 photos about 5 days later, and he uploaded/mailed our entire set of wedding photos just 8 days after the wedding! I'm sure his timeline varies based on the season and we were "off-wedding season," but I never thought I would get the photos so quickly! And they are fabulous! We have 531 amazing pictures from the 7 hours he was with us, for a very reasonable price. The composition is perfect, the colors are amazing. Everyone we've shown has just raved about how amazing the photos are. Its been almost impossible trying to choose our favorites for framing and photobooks. Not only is his photographer just awesome but his presence also made our day better. He's such a fun, positive person! I am so glad we hired Robert. I wanted someone to capture on my wedding day how amazingly happy my husband and I are together and Robert absolutely did that. We could not possibly have gotten better wedding photos.

ll the memorable moments of our big day. One might say we are picky, but when it comes to your big day you should always want and get the BEST. These photos are shown your children, family and friends, and when people ask about your wedding “Oh so long ago,” you have to do them right! Lucky for us, a family member happened to know two photographers, one was Robert Paetz and the other was his wife Felicia Paetz. We checked out Robert’s website and we were impressed with the variety of locations, the different styles and quality of the photos. Each photo was intriguing, lively and most importantly told a story. We got in touch with Robert and Felicia and set up an engagement photo session. Robert and Felicia are very professional but also personable. They had us feeling instantly at ease in front of the camera and made the whole photo shoot absolutely easy, exciting and fun. That kind of professionalism coupled with a natural comradery is impossibly hard to find and we subsequently hired this dynamic team on the spot. We received our engagement photos 5 days after the shoot and were blown away by them. We didn’t know we could look so good or that Los Angeles was so beautiful! We were told from multiple friends and family our photos looked like they belonged in a magazine; they were that good. Robert and Felicia did a fantastic job on our wedding. They blended right in with our guests and bridal party and no one was nervous around the camera. They provided great mini photo cards with our engagement photos as the background. These mini photo cards would be provided to our guests to take home so they could log onto our wedding photo website (created by Robert) and could view our wedding photos. This was a very nice personal touch that was a hit at our wedding. I have a very large Chinese family, and during our family portraits Robert and Felicia were amazing at getting the family together to photograph. Robert would explain what they needed and Felicia would translate into Chinese. They turned something that could have been quiet the challenge into a quick and easy process so we were all back to celebrating in no time! Six days after the wedding we have our wedding photos and they are as amazing as we thought they would be! It was the perfect balance of candid, action and portrait. It was everything we wanted and again our guests can’t stop talking about them. Throughout the whole process Robert and Felicia made us feel at ease and valued. Dave and I felt we were in very capable hands which would always deliver on what we wanted. Their work speaks for itself and they are so well priced I can’t imagine going with anyone else. was great to have around, always with his camera ready to capture a candid moment but never making you feel watched or uncomfortable. He is very friendly, easy going, and polite, making him the perfect photographer for such an intimate moment in your life. It was like having a friend around and all our family and friends really liked him! His photographic skills and gear are incredible and you can tell that he is a professional in 2 minutes! He was extremely efficient and organized when taking the "official" post-ceremony photos with both of our families. Then he took us away from the guests for a more intimate photo session that turned out beautifully. Later during the party, at around 9 pm or so, he ran to my wife and I and said that the stars were out and that we could try a short astrophotography shoot. The photos are breathtaking! He was able to light us using various flashes and filters and still get the stars to show in the sky--wow! Only a photographer with great skills, creativity, and experience can pull this off. We received our final photos very quickly--3 weeks or so which is faster than what we've heard it takes other photographers--and we couldn't be happier with the end result! As a whole, our experience with Robert was incredible and we can't recommend it him enough. His personality and friendliness will make you and your guests feel comfortable while he takes photos and his skills will deliver astounding results. camera shy and Robert really brought him out of his shell. In fact, by the time our wedding day arrived, Avi was actually enjoying having his picture taken! This really allowed his personality to shine through, and the engagement pics and wedding pics are the best we’ve ever taken together! Also, I have quite a large family and had to get a lot of different group photos with various parts of the family. Robert worked quickly and smoothly, without making anyone feel rushed. I have to giggle at how stealth he is! He was popping up everywhere at our reception, yet was completely unobtrusive. And like I said, the pics are gorgeous! I can't wait to do anniversary photos with him! Highly recommend! :)

nted. My initial correspondence with Felicia was over e-mail, and she was both prompt and thorough when it came to addressing any questions I had (both day and night). I never for a second doubted that she and Robert knew exactly what they were doing. Since I live in Colorado and was getting married in California, it was wonderful to feel like the distance didn't matter--they were both so on top of the details, and had great suggestions for what type of photographs we might want, as well as a timeline of events for the big day. When it was finally time for our engagement shoot, Robert and Felicia made both my husband and me feel so at ease in front of a camera. We are both a little camera shy, but they were great at making us laugh, getting beautiful shots, and keeping us comfortable the whole time.

This year we donned our wedding clothes and took 5 year photos, Robert was game to try all kinds of fun stuff (and put up with my husband wearing a sea creature mask for part of the pictures) and found the best location for fun photos in our area. Robert is kind, fun, makes taking photos not feel awkward but more like a relaxed and enjoyable experience. He takes gorgeous serious photos and laughable funny ones. He went to work and a few days later giddily announced that he had found them—Robert Paetz Photography. He showed me their website and blog and I was instantly drawn in with their gorgeous work. We met with them to take “Engagement Photos” a few months later. When setting up our appointment they were VERY accommodating to our difficult schedules. The day of they arrived promptly (ok they beat us to the photo site), and before we even began shooting we knew they were perfect for us— Robert is fun, outgoing and so very easy to get along with! To make everything even more perfect our photos were GORGEOUS—our friends are still talking about them a full year later! The photos from our wedding, from the small details to the group shots and the first look photos are simply stunning! They rolled with our craziness, snapping photos as we donned storm trooper helmets and as the sun began to set the directed us for another set of awesome couples photos. We received our photos from them over a pint of beer less than 2 weeks after the wedding—score! From the beginning of the whole process they made everything feel like they were simply old friends who were helping us out rather than someone we had hired. They made everything very personal (our CD’s and cases all feature pictures of us, and our Christmas card from them is a photo of us—seriously they are inflating our egos one awesome picture of us at a time). They are so awesome we are planning on wooing them into becoming our friends in a less professional way! (ps Rob I just brewed a batch of Chocolate Covered Cherries Stout, it will be ready in a few weeks ;) )."

It didn't matter that we had 18 months away from our wedding day...we didn't need to search anymore as we found the ONE's! Our decision was solidified after our first engagement shoot- we had two. Robert & Felicia really made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. And the pictures from both shoots were just AMAZING...I had some printed for our wedding day. All I have to say is that the printed copies of our pictures are even more beautiful than seeing the photos in front of the computer screen. That's when you know you have a talented photographer! I promised myself that I would print all of our pictures once the wedding day has passed. Robert joked with me that by the wedding day, Felicia and I were going to be best friends. He was RIGHT! When they arrived on our wedding day, I started to tear. It was like I was really sharing this moment with two friends. They really took care of us on our wedding day. From bustling my dress to ensuring that my husband and I had a moment to breathe, these two made it happen. There are no words to describe how thankful I am for these two. Beautiful pictures, hardworking, true professionals, great people, and talented photographers...the perfect all-in-one package. By far the best investment we made. P.S. My husband and I are already planning to have our first anniversary shoot with them. We can't wait!

ask. My husband is very awkward having his photo taken and was not looking forward to all the photos day of, and especially not an engagement session. Robert made him feel instantly at ease and my husband was actually looking forward to seeing him again. Included in the price is an engagement shoot, which was a ton of fun. Robert worked with us to find a good spot. He arrived early to the park we chose to scout it out and find good places to take our pictures. He cracked sarcastic jokes the whole time, which kept us feeling comfortable. We ended up having a blast, and he even extended the shoot for free so we could go down and get some photos at the beach during sunset. We got some of the photos from the shoot within 24 hours, and the rest within a couple days. They were stunning, and definitely made us look better than we really are. When we had a mix up with our venue and we needed Robert to get a last minute day of permit with the city of Huntington Beach, he jumped on it and had it taken care of extremely quickly, no problem. Day of, Robert was wonderful. He arrived early, got all the details photos out of the way, then took some great getting ready photos. His wife, who often shoots with him, is studying abroad, so he had another second shooter with him day of, who took care of the groomsmen and my husband while they were getting ready. He got some of my favorite photos of my husband day of. They worked beautifully with everyone during the ceremony, getting great photos and staying out of sight. He worked easily with all the coordinators, and got us a sneak peak of our photos the night of our wedding, with the whole rest of them following very quickly behind. Cannot recommend highly enough.
