We loved working with RPS and Laine. She is creative, kind, detailed, and gave us many options for our invitations and day of paper. She took the time to get to know our preferences in design and formality, other décor highlights within our wedding, and made sure that every detail was thought of. For example, she took the time to put our place cards in alpha order by table! We have nothing but good things to say about RPS and will continue to buy paper goods from them in the future.
We were that couple that decided to get married absolutely last minute but still wanted to send invitations to our family. We had a small quantity, a short window to get them out, but didn't want to compromise quality.
Together we came up with an awesome design, Rock Paper Scissors turned them around in record speed, and it didn't break the bank.
Lisa, the owner, was in the middle of hiring a new invitation person, but took our wedding on, and killed it. You can tell she really loves helping people with cool and challenging weddings! Good job Rock Paper Scissors- we'll send our friends.
We got married this winter and Lisa & Rock Paper Scissors went above & beyond to make sure all of our paper goodies were perfect!
As a destination wedding there are a lot of moving pieces- from custom luggage tags, to welcome boxes and fun passport wedding invites to fake plane ticket Save the Dates-- all letter pressed in a non cheesy way- Lisa made us feel like we were the most important people on her list each week. We even messed up our tables (people never RSVP in time, ya'll, never!) the week of the wedding and Lisa sent our chart to a printer in Florida, managed the printing from Michigan and made sure we had a perfect chart the day before our wedding.
Their custom design is not cheap, but for what you get, and how well you're taken care of it, it's absolutely worth it, IMO.
Thanks again Lisa. You & Your Team Rock (Paper Scissors, ha ha ha!)
Oh My Gosh, Rock Paper Scissors! You took our vision of Michigan pride, unique hand lettering & fun details and brought it to life. The hand illustrated Detroit Tigers Stadium still takes my breath away.
Meeting with Lisa was always so fun-- thanks for making something that could potentially be so stressful so fun, easy and unique to us!
On top of the invitations, the day of stuff-- the fun welcome tote bags (swoon), the escort cards, and the signage pulled everything together.
Thanks again Lisa & RPS! You guys were awesome!
Lisa was great to work with and we LOVED her personality. All of her work was unique to us and done beautifully. Unfortunately, we had one minor hiccup with the print shop which lead to a delay in receiving our invitations, but it all worked out in the end and Lisa worked her tail off to get them to us. Also, the store is amazing! You can mind great cards and small gifts for your bridal party there!
I am giving RPS 3-stars because the result of their work was beautiful. We adored our invitations, menus, escort cards, and ceremony programs - they were creative, different, stunning, and just what we wanted. We received so many compliments, including that our invitations were some of our guests' all time favorites! Now for the negative - working with RPS was hands-down the most difficult/stressful/frustrating aspect of our wedding planning. It was not worth the beautiful results, and if I could go back in time and work with someone else, I absolutely would. Deadlines were never met, many mistakes were made (we received envelopes with someone else's name and address on the back - this took nearly a month to solve. We received incorrect quantities, we drove to Ann Arbor to pick up our items and entire projects were missing... I could go on). The worst part to me, however, was working with the staff. They made everything seem like it was my fault, they constantly acted annoyed with me for following up and asking questions, they never once apologized or tried to make their mistakes right, they were downright rude. Wedding planning is stressful enough, if you don't want to add additional stress, I would go with another stationer.
I would strongly advise against using this business. I agree with another reviewer that the store is great, but the process of getting custom things was so stressful. There were delays in communication, details had to be reiterated, and in the end we didn't get what we originally agreed on. This was by far the most stressful part of planning. There are similar experiences described on their yelp and Facebook pages; I wish I'd seen them. Save yourself!
I'd like to start this review on a positive note...If you are looking for a cute gift shop in Ann Arbor, this is the place to go. The shop is adorable and has very cute wrapping paper and stationary.
Now for the negative...I used Rock, Paper, Scissors for my wedding invitations, and it was a complete nightmare! All of the important details - quality, cut, color were missed! I worked with the owner and she was completely unprofessional. She complained that we had been through 15 revisions (only because the first design was completely off base). Then she told me it would take 5-7 business days to receive my invites. On the 12th business, she was annoyed when I asked for status. She said the envelopes were ready and I could pick them up. I drove to AA (I live in Birmingham) only to see that she had given me incorrect envelopes. The envelope on my proof had a V or European enclosure. What she gave me was a flat envelope. All in all, I knew this was not a big deal, but a stationary shop should be extremely detailed.
Then, when I got my invitations (again I drove out to AA). I immediately noticed 5 things wrong with them. The owner was upstairs in meetings and would not come down to talk to me. I sat in her shop and talked with her on the cellphone, while she was upstairs. It was ridiculous! My belly band was made of computer paper, not quality card stock. The invitation and Details card were completely different colors and the cards were not cut evenly.
Not only was the quality terrible, but the customer service was horrific. I have never been treated with such disrespect as an (over) paying customer!
If you are looking for nice, quality invitations, I would NOT go here.
Lisa designed us invites that really fit our personality. They were classic, yet one of a kind.
Lisa is the best! Accommodating....understands your view but makes it more personalized to you! The best !
