Rocklands Farm & Winery is a premier winery and romantic wedding venue in Poolesville, MD. Rocklands Farm Winery is located in Montgomery County's Agricultural Reserve, just 20 miles outside Washington, DC. Here, rustic charm meets sophisticated elegance. The property features a stunning 1870s Italianate-style home as the backdrop for your celebration, along with a turn-of-the-century Bank Barn, carefully renovated to meet all permitting for Use & Occupancy in Montgomery County. These structures, along with a vineyard, flower gardens, orchard, and numerous other historic buildings, sit on 34 acres of breathtaking landscape. At Rocklands, you’ll be able to put on the farm wedding of your dreams while still giving friends and family access to all that our nation’s capital has to offer. In an effort to bring something authentically local to each and every wedding day they host, the team at Rocklands Farm also includes Sungold Flower Co., a full-service floral design company, featuring farmed + foraged arrangements. Rocklands Farm Wine, produced on-site, is also showcased at every wedding. Facilities and Capacity With a capacity for up to 120 guests, Rocklands Farm Winery is the perfect setting for intimate gatherings and more moderately-sized celebrations. The venue’s largest event space, the Bank Barn, is completely renovated and features lofted ceilings, a large dance floor and panoramic views of the vineyard through the barn’s sliding doors (capacity 120 seated guests). Ceremonies and cocktail hours can be held outdoors in our historic garden area, in the newly renovated Corncrib, or under the bistro lights in the Silo Green area. In addition to being a farm and a winery, Rocklands is also a flower farm! Anna and her husband Greg own the farm and run the business but Anna's true passion is flowers! When Anna was a little girl, she dreamed of having her own farm where she could grow flowers and here she is, living her dream! Specializing in wedding flowers, Anna has been creating stunning wedding flowers for years, both at Rocklands as well as at other wedding Venues. Come out to the farm in the Springtime to see her Peonies or in the Autumn to see her Dahlias. You won't be disappointed!

s and grounds- ranging from the main barn venue space to the corn crib and field and more- all lend a very rustic and cozy vibe. Janis, the proprietor, is a very sweet and kind person who very much seems to care about the people who hold events at the farm, and is very responsive and communicative throughout the process. She also worked to accommodate us when we wanted to hang a disco ball from the barn's rafters instead of a chandelier. The rest of the staff are similarly friendly and nice. We grew to knew many of them during our periodic visits to the venue, and they were warm and kind each time we saw them. It's very clear to us that Rocklands is a very well-run and empathetic place, and we're very glad that we got to have our dream reception there!

Our son and his bride decided on Rocklands the minute they visited and while we saw the charm, we tried to steer them to something closer to our home in DC. But they were so right...

! The venue is magic. Beautiful. Thoughtful and everyone going above and beyond to make a family’s special moment perfect. From allowing me to bury a bottle of bourbon in the garden a month before the wedding to ensure perfect weather to finding a guests sunglasses in the dark long after the reception ended. Theses are real people who want your special day to be a perfect memory. Honestly, I loved every moment. As did our guests. We all wish we could do it again! Our son and his bride encouraged everyone to stay at the Marriott at Rio and had the rehearsal dinner and brunch at restaurants there and it was all so perfect. They ran shuttles to the wedding and everyone felt cared for and relaxed. For our family it was a beautiful moment with memories that will last forever.

ing gardens, historic buildings and the farm. Our cocktail hour was in another field under string lights and a silo. The grand finale is the beautiful barn that houses the reception. Absolutely gorgeous! Janis was super helpful the day of with getting us set up in the house, helping with props and answering any questions we had. Overall it was the most perfect evening and I couldn’t be happier!

anis Glenn, was very responsive and flexible in us coming by the farm to check out the different spaces and the amazing collection of decor items they have several times in the months leading up to the wedding. Janis's generosity and flexibility really put our day over the top. If there is an idea you have or a space at the farm you want to use, all you need to do is ask her. For example, we were able to go into the manor house and up on the widow's walk for photos and it was wonderful. Janis also went above and beyond to help us with our seating chart signs and created a special lighted pathway from the barn to the fire pit to enhance and connect the spaces. It is a requirement that you purchase all your wine from Rocklands (a certain amount per number of people), we don't know a whole lot about wine but we enjoyed it and have many bottles left over. It is also essentially required to use Simply Fresh Events as your caterer and rental company (you can use others but I believe you have to pay a fee). We enjoyed the sort of "one stop shopping" aspect of it but did have issues with Simply Fresh and our day-of coordinator, mostly a lack of responsiveness and clarity. While everything ended up fine, we lacked some confidence in them going into the day. One last aspect of Rocklands that we did love was their on-site florist, Sungold Flower Co. Caitlin and Anna at Sungold are incredibly talented, kind, and helpful. They grew flowers for us to make our own table arrangements and put together some amazing feature arrangements and bouquets. Highly recommend using them. Overall, Rocklands is a gorgeous, natural, and relaxed setting for a wedding and we can't wait to continue to enjoy going back to the farm for years to come.

chic. There are so many options for where to have your ceremony, and the barn is wonderful for dinner and dancing. The whole place is just perfect as it is, we did barely any extra decorating (which is one of the reasons we chose this venue), and Rocklands has so many decorations you can you, and amazing vintage furniture for the cocktail hour, which was absolutely charming. The best part was working with Janis, who owns the farm/venue. She is so full of ideas, so positive, and responsive. She made us feel so relaxed and welcomed as we planned. We had friends come up to us during the wedding and say they wanted to do their wedding again and have it at Rocklands! When we were taking pictures, Janis drove us around to all the best spots as well! She made the whole planning process and the wedding day better than we ever thought.

r the first time, we knew it was love at first sight! From the beautiful grass fields, the gorgeous farm gardens, and the rustic red barn- its easy to say... ROCKLANDS was perfect! The natural atmosphere of getting married at a farm mixed with elegant touches of decorations within the barn-make this venue perfect. My husband and I got married about six weeks ago- and we STILL have people mentioning to us how beautiful it was. Janis Glenn- the owner and operator of Rocklands Farm & Winery is such a kind hearted woman. She is easy to contact and is available for any questions at any time. She was very helpful with my elderly grandfather and supporting him with wheel chair access around the venue. And coming to visit on random days to review and check out the venue. What is also great about this venue is Brides from previous weddings tend to recycle products and signs from their weddings-allowing you to reuse a lot of decor items like candles, signs, furniture, etc.- for your wedding! Truly wonderful! Lastly, please keep in mind when booking with this venue they do have specific caterers they would like you to use. If you choose to use someone else, it is allowed-but you have to pay a small fee. My husband and I had such a joy using one of the caterers they suggested and boy was it a breeze! Point saying.. Rocklands Farm & Winery was a perfect and most ideal wedding venue for my husband and I! We loved the property, the staff, the hospitality, and the whole-hearted love they give to their clients. They wish you nothing but the best for your marriage and that shows! Highly, highly, highly recommend!

so warm, inviting, and does everything she can to make your planning and your event perfect. She is incredibly responsive for questions, she goes above and beyond for site tours and walk-throughs, and was so accommodating for us the whole way through. When we booked the venue (over a year and a half ago), we were her first lesbian wedding. I think since booking they actually held another lesbian wedding, but either way, we felt so comfortable and supported the entire time. That is all Janis. She took the time and effort to make us feel that way, and we will always love her for that. The venue itself is the best farm/rustic style venue in the DMV area that we found. For us, we LOVE the working farm aspect: during our ceremony we even heard a pig squeal!! For us, that was perfect. We felt in nature while having a physical space to work with. The backdrop for the venue is stunning: open fields, cows, sheep, you name it. It is so green, so lush, it is unmatched elsewhere. We found a few other venues in VA that were also beautiful, but they weren't actually working farms, which we felt took away from the charm. Like, why are we getting married on a farm that no longer is a farm and is just a wedding venue? Not our style. But the wonderful part about Rocklands is that it feels authentic while also feeling like a wedding venue-- it is simply gorgeous. It didn't require a lot of decorations either because it is just so naturally amazing. We held the party in the barn. We had an 8 piece Motown cover band (The Moonlighters) who just brought the house down. The barn was such a beautiful and fun space to dance. There is no AC in the barn, but we rented fans through our caterer, and the walls of the barn completely open up. Thank you for a PERFECT WEDDING EXPERIENCE!!!

ly and friends in a separate house on the property. We then had a beautiful outdoor ceremony, complete with a farm cat casting a watchful eye over baby pigs and a mooing cow. Afterwards the barn provided a great space for our reception, with plenty of space for eating and dancing. Rocklands also has dozens of props which we used to decorate the reception area. In addition to its eye catching beauty, Rocklands has great staff and owners. Janis, the events manager and property owner, was very easy to work with. She was always available to answer questions and on the day of our wedding personally drove us around the farm so that we could find spaces for beautiful photos. We also worked with Chris and the wine staff set up a wine tasting to ensure we had great Rocklands wine for our wedding. They were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and easy to work with.

fect was as important to her as it was to us! We were looking for a beautiful location to hold an intimate "Not So Big Wedding" on a budget, and it ended up being exactly as we'd envisioned it. We booked the formal backyard mid-week (on a Wednesday) for our outdoor ceremony with the barn as a rain back-up location, which are both gorgeous. Truthfully, we weren't sure which we preferred more, so we figured we'd let the weather decide :-) I can't think of one thing that could have been better about our day. From the beautiful bridal dressing room to the sunflowers blooming in the flower garden, everything just felt magical. Janis and the entire Rocklands team are fantastic, and the setting is just breathtaking! Whether you're planning something small and intimate or a larger event, Rocklands can accommodate it all.

wedding an unforgettable experience. The farm itself is stunning. One of our favorite things about the venue and one of the aspects that won us over was its natural beauty. We didn't have to spend much to make the space gorgeous; it was already that way. And anything else we needed, the farm has a huge stockpile of props and decorations. We had our ceremony on the lawn behind the manor house. During the ceremony itself sheep and cows were grazing and the golden glow from the setting sun painted a perfect picture. We held the reception in the barn and since our wedding was on the smaller side- 75 guests in total- we fit comfortably in the space. Our guests loved the bonfire pit and at the end of the night everyone gathered outside to enjoy s'mores and gaze at the stars. Janis works with Simply Fresh Events to arrange everything from catering and alcohol to a restroom trailer (not your average port-a-potty) and group transportation to and from the event. They are professional, organized and high quality. As an individual who has worked in restaurants/events/and catering my whole life, I was very impressed with the level of professionalism and quality of services we received. One thing to note for the less adventurous couple. This is a farm and there are bugs, occasional mud, and unruly plants and animals. For us that added to the charm, but I do recommend getting bug spray for your event, and be prepared to get your shoes a little dirty. If you are looking for a venue in the DC region that is naturally gorgeous, I highly recommend Rocklands.

The day before the wedding, the forecast was looking extremely hot (over 100 degrees!), and she suggested moving the ceremony site to the covered "corn crib"; it was a fantastic idea! Our guests were much cooler, and Anna and Caitlin of Sungold Flower Co. decorated it so beautifully. The farm is an absolutely stunning backdrop for photos, and has all the amenities needed for a special occasion. With Janis' expertise and Anna and Caitlin's local flower arrangements, you can truly make your wedding day reflect you and your spouse as a couple. Simply Fresh, the recommended caterer, was absolutely top notch. Our guests were raving about the food, and loved their suggestion of pie instead of the traditional cake. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue and people to work with for our wedding!
