We live in Chicago and were looking for a venue that had some nature. All of the local venues required you to hire specific vendors, and pay specific high prices. So we went looking for a place that was more comfortable and accommodating.
We ...wanted to get married in the woods, but we also didn't want driving or shuttle buses to be an issue. As soon as we saw Ronora, we knew we had found our venue.
Basically you get to just rent a huge piece of land for the weekend, and there is lodging on site for about 100 people. There is a hotel literally 5 minutes down the street for any remaining guests.
The staff at Ronora were really helpful and let us choose any vendors we wanted to use, and make decisions about where our ceremony and reception could be held. We brought a giant tent in and had a company drill holes in the tennis court.
The staff was also really helpful on the day of the wedding. They had staff members to help us set up tables and lights, they raked the lake so it was extra clean for swimmers, made bug repellent, cleaned up, and I'm sure a million other things I am forgetting. Oh they found bartenders for us.
Long story short, it was amazing. We got to celebrate with all our friends and family, outside in the Michigan woods!
We hired a food truck to supply all food Friday and Saturday. But each house has a kitchen. Or Ronora can cook for you. And there is even a big lodge, so that if it does rain, you could fit 100-150 people in there.
I highly recommend this place for any occasion. The people are amazing and helpful. The prices were totally reasonable. We were so lucky to have access to this land for our wedding!
