The vibe and aesthetic matched exactly what we were envisioning. Roy is an amazing human being. From the initial conversations over email and phone, to our engagement session till the actual wedding day - he was a dream to work with. He made us, the most uncomfortable/awkward couple, feel so comfortable and at ease throughout the entire process.

When it was all said and done, we both still agree that Roy was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. He was so warm, calm, and made us feel comfortable from the moment we met. My husband and I aren’t 100 percent comfortable being photographed, both a little awkward, but he made it so easy. Roy captured the best moments of our day- and looking at all the photos made us both laugh and cry. were drawn to him because his images tell a story and are artistic – not just the traditional wedding pics. At first, I was really nervous at the idea of FaceTime interviewing our potential photographers, but boy did Roy take away all those nerves within the first 30 seconds. Right from the start he was so kind, genuine and immediately made me feel at ease. When we finally met in person on our wedding day I felt an instant connection and calm around him and his assistant. They made us laugh, made us feel beautiful and captured the moments of our big day perfectly. Then, Roy knocked it out of the park when we did our “post-wedding session” a couple weeks later in Nu’uanu Valley. He was just as excited as we were to stomp through the mud & pouring rain to get unique shots in an entirely different setting. When the final photos came back, my husband and I were blown away! He captured our personalities and our guests and the entire story so well. As a bonus, Roy was a DREAM to work with when it came to communication. We had a challenging time with a lot of our vendors on this, but not him. He was always punctual with email responses and his contract/invoicing/digital download was seamless. His efficiency in this area was top notch and sooooo appreciated! We are forever grateful that we trusted Roy and chose him as our photographer. er regretted it for a second. We were stunned by his Instagram feed, and when we spoke to him (via FaceTime, as we were planning the wedding from abroad), we got along instantly. He's a young guy, super nice, super open. At every step of our conversation, and then during the ceremony, he listened to us, joked with us, and helped keep us at ease as he composed his shots. His assistant on the day was just as warm and friendly as him. And the photos... well, his Insta speaks for itself, but suffice it to say they are AMAZING! We had a great time with Roy!

We find ourselves going back and reliving our wedding day through his photos, which turned out like idyllic paintings. He managed to blend us into all of the natural beauty that surrounded us on our day and capture so many special fleeting moments that we would have never been aware of – he’s truly a talent.
Also included in our package was a post-wedding day photo shoot which we booked three days after the wedding. We ended up getting stuck in traffic and arriving on location with only 45 minutes left until sunset. Roy managed to keep us calm and worked quickly to create what ended up being some of our favorite photos!

I fell in love with his toned down, atmospheric style that has just the extra tad bit more of edginess and drama than your typical airy wedding photo, so was so happy to discover that his rates were some of the most affordable I’d seen from local photographers in the Honolulu area, plus included extras we definitely loved taking advantage of, such as an additional pre wedding shoot. Working with Roy was so easy. Throughout the planning process, he was very accommodating, prompt with emails, attentive, and was very knowledgeable especially when we weren’t sure about how to plan our timeline. He took all of our concerns and ideas and worked them into his final product. On the day of the wedding, we were able to enjoy ourselves without worrying if someone caught the moment on camera. The final product allowed us to follow almost the entire day from start to finish, almost like watching a video of the day—really cool.
Roy captured a lot of amazing photos from our wedding day. Model-quality for some of them, in my opinion! I truly believe that it was because we were able to relax and be ourselves even with Roy and his second shooter telling us to kiss or hold hands. It takes some getting-use-to for anyone who is not a model, but Roy was easy-going and gave great direction.
If we were to do it all over again, we’d probably re-hire a handful of our vendors. But Roy is one we couldn’t do without! One of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding!

time to ask us if there were any specifics we wanted, what types of locations we preferred, etc. My fiancé and I have never done a photoshoot so we were really nervous & felt awkward, but Roy helped us through it and we ended up having a blast taking pictures. (My fiancé even thinks he's a model now, haha). Unfortunately, the weather wasn't the best; it was super windy and a little rainy & I was afraid that the shots wouldn't come out good, but Roy pulled it off!! I was so in love with our pictures, you wouldn't believe that the weather was bad at all by looking at the pictures. had like 5 different locations, props, wardrobe and hair and makeup changes throughout and even had to take a boat to get to one of the spots and he was so down for all of it. No idea or suggestion was too far out there and he was fantastic at giving us directions and helping us pose in a way that didn’t feel unnatural or awkward but still looked great in the final photos. The best part about working with him was that he was the perfect blend of confidence, professionalism, fun and creativity. I’ve worked with other photographers in the past and this photo shoot was my favorite one because he didn’t give us vague, unhelpful instructions like, “look like you love each other.” He told us exactly what to do, where to pose and how to angle ourselves and used every unique location to inspire his creative and lighting choices. When the weather changed and it started to drizzle, he didn’t freak out at all, he just back lit us so it ended up looking really awesome. So, if you’re trying to find the perfect photographer, definitely hire Roy. He is the BEST of the BEST and, just like us, you’ll cherish your photos and memories for years to come.
