The venue is gorgeous! I found this venue a long time ago and knew immediately that this is were I wanted to have my wedding reception and thankfully my husband agreed!
Wayne was ...
incredible to work with and he helped make the day go smoothly. He took care of all the little items that needed to be taken care of the day of the wedding and we really didn't have to think much about things.
Our reception was completely fabulous. I love the space, the food, and the value. Kevin was our chef and he prepared an enormous tasting for us, and Wayne set an elegant table for ...
us to sample the food. It was like a fancy date with so much to eat! We got exactly what we were looking for with our food and our guests complimented it. Wayne was absolutely amazing - from letting us drop by during the day to ask questions to borrowing a plate charger to ensure it matched our gold, he always went out of his way for us. He let us in the day before to put the linens on the tables (we had purchased our own) and he was a calming presence the entire time. The only reason why I didn't give five stars was because I had read such great things about Laura. It was a little frustrating at times because our initial deposit check got returned in the mail, I had to send reminder emails to get a response, our bill after our second deposit didn't show the credit of the first deposit - that sort of thing. I don't know if she was there for our reception; if she was, she didn't introduce herself. In the end, those are all small things that I wish I didn't have to keep track of since I was doing all of my own planning, but they were minor enough that they weren't showstoppers. Also, I can't say enough about Wayne - even though I don't think he was supposed to be the day of planner that they advertise, he fit that role very well and made us feel supported. One other thing to be aware of is that their linen color choices are limited to black or green so we did have to purchase our own table linens to match our wedding colors. Just know that could be an added expense if you are working on a tight budget. Overall, I would definitely recommend this venue to brides looking for a timeless/classic feel for their receptions at a great price. We had a beautiful night that I will always cherish.
I searched high and low for a wedding venue in central Maine that was stylish and classic and wouldn't break the bank. I was so happy when I finally found The Royal Oak Room. Laura...
is the owner/coordinator and she is so easy to work with and just generally fabulous. She was accommodating and was immeasurably helpful on the wedding weekend in coordinating everything and helping to make sure everyone was where they were supposed to be. She even opened up early the day before to let us practice our first dance.
The space itself is just lovely and classically elegant with super high tray ceilings, wood paneled walls and understated decor and fixtures. I really didn't have to do much at all to decorate and the place still looked fabulous. We got married on the back patio and had the reception inside. It was the perfect size for the traditional cocktail hour followed by a seated reception with dancing for about 75 people.
The food was delicious and the staff was phenomenal. Everyone was so sweet and attentive and made sure our day was perfect. My fiance and I hid out back while the guests arrived and Laura brought us some champagne and snacks while we waited - I was really grateful and touched by her thoughtfulness and attention to detail.
My only regret is that I couldn't afford an open bar!
Laura was wonderful!! She had everything coordinated in such a way that we didn't feel rushed. When we left to have pictures taken we knew we would miss the apps, she hD plates of ...
the apps saved for us in a room so se could enjoy them! The food was really good! And I loved that everything was included, no hidden costs!
Definitely worth the $10,000 we spent. Laura and her staff understood every detail I could have wanted! She even customized the menu for me as i was a vegetarian and some of my ot...
