I want to start by saying there we two people at Running Y that were great- Scott one of the owners and Liz the banquet manager (different than the person I am about to talk about). If it weren't for Scott and Liz, our wedding would have been awful.
Elizabeth the director of sales and events is absolutly AWFUL! She completly screwed up our wedding. Never returned calls, took forever to answer emails, never booked things that I have documented proof we booked. She made planning out wedding a living hell. If it weren't for our wedding planner I would have lost my mind. It was made very clear when we arrived to the venue that the other wedding that was happening that weekend was given higher priority in Elizabeth's eyes. I do not recommend using Running Y unless you are able to not us Elizabeth.
The outdoor venue and and ballroom were very pretty, no problems there.
The rental houses on property were filthy, moldy, and smelled weird. I don't recommend staying in them.
Cathy Henderson was by far the most crucial piece of planning our wedding. She was there every step of the way and literally took the reigns the week of the wedding so I could relax with my family coming in from out of town. She was so helpful and amazing, loved her!
This weekend was perfect weather, not too hot not too cold, with a slight breeze to cool everyone off. The views from the outdoor ceremony location, the bridal suite, and the guests rooms were breathtaking. Some groomsmen partook in golfing on the course and they loved it. I wish I could have gotten out there, but bridal duties got the best of me. I definitely plan to stay here again and catch up on the golf aspect.
The catering exceeded my expectations. It's difficult to cook for so many people and not manage to botch one of the sides, but EVERYTHING was delicious! It was like mama's southern bbq & that wasn't their only choice in catering. They had so many options to choose from, totally custom wedding for every couple and every budget.
It is not your typical romantic getaway honeymoon, but if you love hiking, lakes, and general outdoor stuff the Running Y Ranch is great. It is centrally located between lava caves, lakes, and hiking. some are pretty close and others may take you up to an hour to get to, but since you are right between everything you don't feel bad about the travel. There is also an Arnold Palmer golf course, which may interest some
The Running Y was perfect. Having a wedding coordinator on site was so helpful and all of my guests were very pleased with the accomadations. Perfect place to have a wedding and the catering for them is outstanding!!!
