To start: this was not a plantation, we did our research! Very cool older house, built in the 20th century.
Amazing experience top to bottom. My mother said it's the best family wedding she has ever experienced (objectively topping her own!) Our wedding of 92 guests, including kids, all had a blast and really enjoyed the set-up and vibes. The venue was very reasonably priced for the DMV - the low base rate is partially made up for by the catering being pretty expensive, but that was very good food as well, and it all came out in the wash to being a solid middle-class rate.
Minor issues (and this is partly us being difficult, surely :)): we ended up doing a mix of our own linens and rentals and this turned into a bit of a logistical snafu. The venue also only has port-o-potties for the outside; there are indoor bathrooms as well which are perfectly reasonable, but they should probably go ahead and invest in permanent trailers IMO.
Many DMV couples are probably in a situation like ours where we are both originally from different cities and the DMV is our "third city" and we actually live a lot closer to DC proper. The venue worked really well for that configuration; it has great access to Dulles for all of your out-of-town guests. Also was not a huge lift to drive out there a few times from inside the Beltway for planning meetings and such. But at the same time, it was far enough away to feel like a mini-retreat - we did end up booking an AirBNB to stay out there anyways, and it was quite charming :)

Alexandra, Amelia, and Taelor were incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the entire planning process—from the initial booking and food tasting to the final walkthrough before our wedding day.
The getting-ready suites were comfortable and spacious, and the gardens and library provided stunning backdrops for photos. The house and tent were also perfectly set up for hosting both the cocktail hour and reception, creating a seamless and beautiful experience for us and our guests.
We are so grateful to the Rust Manor House team for helping bring our dream wedding to life. We cannot recommend this venue enough!

toured and knew when we walked in, it was the one. Amelia, Alexandra, and Taelor were always so responsive with any questions we had and were so warm and friendly. The house itself is stunning and the reception space, the tent, was incredible. We had 120 people and it was so spacious for that amount of people-we never felt crammed. We are so happy with every aspect of Rust Manor and couldn’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else!

lly curated and comfortable for getting ready in the morning, however this was an additional fee. Outside of the aesthetics, my wife and I struggled with the RMH staff. We spent a lot of time & energy keeping track of details, but found that every email exchange with the RMH team was filled with errors on their end. When we pointed out errors or issues based on contract terms, there were no apologies for the oversight or efforts made to improve their internal communication. RMH staff apparently use a single email for external communication, but we repeatedly found that different staff members would reply to a chain without reading previous emails sent by their colleagues. I found this extremely frustrating, especially when we were making final approvals and had to point out areas where we were being overcharged. Several times, we were promised that something could/would happen, but later told that this was never an option (e.g., offering pre-poured signature cocktails on the satellite bar during cocktail hour). On the day of our wedding, our designated staff person left early and assured our coordinator that a replacement would arrive (spoiler: nobody showed). We were super disappointed that despite confirming with RMH staff and the exclusive catering team multiple times that any leftover cake (we had two!) would be boxed up for us to take home the next morning, we were told that there was nothing left in the fridges for us. Overall, RMH is stunning and we love the pictures/memories from the day. However, the venue staff were unorganized and frustrating to work with, especially given that the price is comparable to private (non-NOVA Parks) venues.

The entire team was incredible friendly, professional, and always ready to help. We truly felt supported every step of the way, and it’s clear that they all genuinely care about making every event perfect.
The bridal suites were spotless and beautifully maintained, with everything we needed readily available. It made getting ready so easy and enjoyable for everyone.
But what truly stood out was the staff by far the BEST team I’ve ever worked with. From the tasting to every single person that went above and beyond to make our day special. They made us feel like royalty and ensured everything ran seamlessly.
The only minor feedback we received from a couple of guests was regarding the outdoor area, the grass and surrounding areas could have been treated a bit more for bugs. It wasn’t a major issue, but worth mentioning for future events.
That said, the staff more than made up for it. They were, without a doubt, the BEST team we’ve ever encountered. Their energy, professionalism, and kindness made us and our guests feel so welcome and cared for.

e were going to go with. Rust was the first venue that we toured, and instantly fell in love.
Amelia and Alexandria were extremely helpful, professional and patient with us throughout the entire process. Throughout the entire process, Rust was nothing short of amazing. They are quick to respond to any and all questions/communications, and are soooo kind.
The entirety of the venue is bright, airy, comfortable, and clean. We experienced no issues with the venue, the staff, or the behind the scenes. Not to mention - the bridal suite is GORGEOUS, and the groomsman lounge was perfect. We had a wedding with 130 people, and there was no point that it felt cramped - it was perfect.
The ceremony space is absolutely breathtaking, the inside of the manor is perfect, and the reception space created the environment for a nice dinner, and good dancing. The fire pit out back made our dream of having s'mores come to life.
We cannot recommend Rust Manor anymore - and are so happy that we started our forever at such an amazing space.

oor venue with an old manor style and plenty of green and flowers. Rust Manor offers a beautiful outdoor setting and a very well cared for interior with plenty of space. A separate tent is used for the reception and located a very short walk down the hill. Rust Manor does require the use of a day of coordinator and in hindsight, we would recommend one from the beginning. Rust does provide a list of coordinators and other vendors they have worked with before. Catering is provided onsite by Great Blue Heron and features a range of options for your cocktail hour and reception. Though Rust conducts a number of weddings throughout the year, at no point did we feel like we were just another wedding. The staff you work with is responsive and knowledgeable. When we came in slightly over head count, the team at Rust was very flexible and assisted us greatly. The day of our wedding was incredible. The venue looked beautiful, it felt like the staff working that day was genuinely happy for us, and it went off without any major problems. The groom and bridal suite were perfect for getting ready. We had a great time at Rust Manor and it was perfect for our wedding. We would recommend the venue to anyone who asked.

Our hands-down favorite part was that after the ceremony they suggest you go upstairs for a few minutes as husband and wife. When we got up there, they had a table all set up with a table cloth, our signature drink, some waters, and four of each appetiser. It was so sweet and the best part of the day (besides the ceremony).
Will definitely suggest this place to anyone else getting married in the area.

oordinator who joined us and our event coordinator at Rust discussed every detail and emailed us a detailed plan for the day. Allergies, linens, timeline, etc all were planned. When we arrived at the reception we were impressed with the day - everything was going as planned, our guests were enjoying themselves, our day-of coordinator had help from the event coordinator to set up the event, and they had a selection of hors d'oeuvres and drinks for us before we took pictures. We had an in-house event and the dinner and dancing were on-time. We could not have been happier with the event! The coordinator joined in dancing with us as well. Cleaning at the end of the night was easy and the staff helped us with everything.

In the last two years, they have renovated and invested in the property which has taken it from beautiful historic venue to a high end luxurious spot that feels both elegant and warm. Highly recommend this venue!

Pros: beautiful grounds, access to the bridal suites & the whole house...
starting at 10am, provided all base reception & ceremony necessities (tables, chairs, lighting, plates, cups, utensils, arch), easy to contact, and one point of contact for all wedding and catering related needs.
Cons: no rust staff on site at all during the day (prepare to mobilize your bridal party for set up & tear down), no day of coordinator provided (but required), no sound system for use & no spare supplies for the day of to rent or borrow (this is just at a me thing, I don’t think rust is the only venue to do this). Important to note, they have now removed the bridal and groom’s suites from the basic package. The latter didn’t impact us as we booked before this change occurred, but this irked me since the venue costs so much & we had to keep reminding the team it was provided to us in our contract.

e less than desirable - even after confirming the rehearsal time with them multiple times, they still double booked the venue during our rehearsal time and did not let us know. They also did not originally set up the ceremony chairs the way we had agreed upon (my mom and MIL had to get them to fix it the afternoon of our wedding day) - which made me think they did not take great notes during our two hour walk through the month before our wedding. That being said, the wedding day went great and we are glad we picked this vendor, since those were only minor inconveniences. The staff was also very helpful when we had issues with our linen order.

and were, we were sold. Throughout the entire planning process, we had so many questions and Nicole, and always responded within 24 hours. We were worried about the cold (and it was cold) but they put out heaters and assured us between those and the blankets we purchased everyone would be okay. And they were right! No one died! Basically what you need to know is this staff knows what they're doing, they want you to have a wonderful day, and they're going to work with you to make your vision a reality. ALSO, this venue is accessible (we had a few guests in wheelchairs or with walkers and this was paramount). Would recommend to anyone!

All of the equipment, decor etc available to use at Rust was awesome, and made my life so much easier. And we got to not only have our dog in the wedding, but have him with us through the whole day! We cannot say enough good things about Rust and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

The staff at Rust Manor were so gracious about our request and worked with us to make it happen. During the whole planning process, we found Rust Manor staff to be responsive, cooperative, attentive, and kind. We wholeheartedly love this venue and highly recommend it!

at, due to the pandemic, was not able to be. They were completely flexible in helping us find a new date and we were married there last Saturday, April 30. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, from the historic house, to the stone walled garden, which gives Secret Garden vibes, to the woods full of secret paths that surround the whole property. My guest raved about how gorgeous it was. The venue had everything we were looking for: historical house that was NOT a former plantation, gardens, and woods for an outdoor ceremony and pictures, as well as a fully enclosed tent to throw the large family wedding we were dreaming of. The Rust Manor staff are pros at running weddings and they are incredibly friendly, professional and supportive. I really felt like we were completely taken care of from the first interview through the wedding day. The venue comes fully equipped with the tent that has decorative lighting, tables, chairs, and a dance floor included. They even have a number of decoration supplies such as easels, shepherd hooks, and a cake cutting set, that the were able to let us use. No need to rent or buy most of the basics, Rust Manor has it all! Finally all of this comes at a price that is extremely competitive and, because it is owned by the Audubon Society and run by NOVA Parks, you can be sure your money is going to support good organizations and causes. I would absolutely recommend this venue for anyone who wants an elegant setting surrounded by nature, who wants the intimacy of feeling like they are in their own magical space away from the city and suburbia but without being too far from Washington DC. Thank you, Rust Manor House, for making my dream wedding come true!

e asked for a better venue - and Great Blue Heron Catering was so great - everyone raved about the food and lovely venue. I especially loved the time and space offered before the wedding to get ready with my girls, we enjoyed cocktail hour both inside and outside of the house and the tented reception was everything we had wanted and hoped for. The gardens offer the most romantic setting and our photos turned out incredible!!

Rust Manor sits on a large nature preserve. My wife wanted an outdoor, nature-in-autumn themed wedding, and the scenery of Rust Manor's property fit the bill perfectly. Furthermore, because Rust Manor is part of the NoVa Parks system, it is very reasonably priced to Virginia residents, compared with other, similar venues. Another thing that impressed us about the venue is that it is already rather pretty and requires a minimal amount of additional decoration for a wedding reception. Finally, the thing that put us over the edge of choosing Rust Manor was that the staff seemed to know what they were doing and were very responsive. You definitely get the impression that Rust Manor has done this many times before and that you are dealing with a well-oiled machine.
Ultimately, our wedding went extremely well. Rust Manor staff were happy to work with us to have everything set up how we wanted, accommodated us throughout schedule changes, etc, and had everything prepared exactly as we expected. We would highly recommend Rust Manor.

nning and prepping for our new wedding date, the staff at Rust Manor were extremely knowledgeable and quick with responses to ANY questions that I had (which was huge for me). They provide a catering service who did a wonderful job with our apps, dinner, and drinks, and were also extremely accommodating! I had 2 guests RSVP yes the week before the wedding and they were able to add them in the drink and dinner count. In addition to that, the venue is breathtaking. Guests could not believe how beautiful the gardens, house and tent were. I could go on and on but believe me when I say that you don't want to pass up on this gem right by downtown Leesburg! We rented out the VRBO on Bear Chase Brewery's property and had the best weekend of our lives!!!

pful and flexible with all of our questions. They were really on top of scheduling our walk through and generally making sure we were ready for wedding day. The venue is beautiful and we made full use of it. It was important to us to have a nice suite for both us. We also got married in the garden, which was like a dream. We then had the cocktail hour at the manor, and the reception in the tent. We used the full venue and Rust made it look easy.
That being said, the only downside is the required onsite caterer, Great Blue Heron. We did a pass through service for our food but the fee to serve the food by GBH was almost the same cost as our actual caterer, even without providing any food. Getting in touch with GBH was extremely difficult and they were difficult to work with. They didn't check in on final numbers until 2 weeks before the wedding. They also were not upfront about the costs of their service. The Rust Manor staff did everything they could to answer our questions about catering and worked with us on everything, even on the things that felt like GBH's job (like talking to our second caterer).
However, the service the day of was really good. The wait staff took great care of us and made sure the guests were having a great time as well.

staff at Rust were incredibly helpful, supportive and accommodating the entire time. I never had any issue with rescheduling and they were always communicating and updating us with current protocols. The venue coordinators (shoutout to Holly) were awesome and ensured that everything was perfect! Great Blue Heron was wonderful to work with as well and happily accepted all of our special requests for food and drinks. Our experience was better than we could have imagined!

staff/coordinators made it so easy for us!!! They were amazing and just had every contingency thought out. Even during the pandemic, I heard nightmare stories about my friends' venues taking their money even when they couldn't have their original number, and Rust Manor offered to refund everything when the capacity restriction was not lifted yet.
