Ryan Prins Photography is a wedding photographer based in Grand Rapids, MI. The company is owned and operated by its namesake, photographer Ryan Prins. Founded in 2006, this studio has over a decade of photography experience. Ryan can be present on the day for a minimum of 10 hours, arriving before the ceremony. This allows him to document the tingling excitement felt by a couple and the wedding party before the nuptials take place. This time also allows for some of the most intimate and emotive moments before the action begins. Ryan works with a photojournalistic style of imagery. His wedding portraits have a more natural feel than traditional portraiture, as though the photographer has captured the couple sharing a private moment of joy. He also makes sure to document the small details that can make each wedding unique. Couples will never forget these touches, with elegant images of the wedding bands alongside each other or the delicate lace embroidery of a dress. During the reception, in-action shots of the first dance and celebrations are tasteful and organic. Ryan was very professional. He did exactly what I wanted and more. He did a bunch of film photography in addition to the digital stuff, which I really appreciated. I needed a little break from the party, and he picked then for perfect timing to have my husband and I go outside and do some photos at sunset. He even stayed a little later than scheduled to get some photos during dancing, at no additional cost. Would highly recommend!

From the very beginning, Ryan made it a point to establish a working relationship with us. He was focused on the artistic and creative aspects of the process, which we really appreciated in his work. Ryan was so flexible with timing and the organization of our wedding day contract to fit our needs. He was so warm, friendly & relationship-based, and we feel that our photos reflect this. Ryan doesn’t direct you through the photos, doesn’t tell you how to stand or where to look (most of the time); he wants you to feel like you can be and act naturally, as if he were not even there. Based on our wedding day pictures, it felt like he was Superman – it was as if he was everywhere all at once! Ryan was working with several different cameras on the wedding day, and as we look through our collection of photos again and again, we couldn’t have asked for more. Not only was Ryan professional & courteous throughout the entire process, his kind & relaxed nature made everyone feel at ease & happy in our photos, too. When you have the chance to work with Ryan, it becomes so clear that he is a photographer because of his love & joy in capturing such special moments. If we could, we would relive every moment of our wedding day thanks to his special care. By the end of the night, Ryan felt like family, and what more could we ask for?

I have known Ryan for many years so when I got engaged and starting planning my wedding I knew right away I wanted Ryan to capture our day! I can't say enough great things about him as a photographer and person, he did an amazing job getting all the photos I wanted plus more. He had to move around a lot during the day of the wedding during some tight time frames but he was always where I needed him to be and checking in with me to make sure I was doing alright. I LOVE how all the photos turned out and couldn't be more grateful to have perfect images of the our special day. I would 10/10 recommend Ryan to any bride and groom!

Ryan was a true photojournalist - exactly what my (now) husband and I were looking for. His professionalism and attentiveness meant that he was present to capture every moment of our special day without interrupting the natural flow of the event. We were able to enjoy every moment of the entire day! We loved the "sneak peeks" of our photos he released on Instagram and are so very happy with the final product from our rehearsal dinner and wedding celebrations. We'd recommend him without hesitation.

Unbelievably natural, spectacular photos, and a comforting personality -- Ryan is an amazing photographer. We were looking for quality and capturing photography. It was important to us though that we were able to be fully present throughout the entire day, enjoying and remembering everything. I've been in 15 weddings, and I've seen photographers with less experience and different values become the center of attention the entire wedding day. What we loved about working with Ryan was that he captured amazing, tiny moments with brilliance, but it was without interrupting. He shot the big, grand moments with precision. He was a comforting presence, helpful and artistic. So happy with the timeless photos he took.

Ryan Prins Photography did an excellent job shooting our wedding. His work perfectly blends a trendy modern feel with a refreshingly honest take. Recently I have been to so many wedding where the photographer seemed to grab more attention than the bride. With Ryan Prins photography that will never be the case. He does an outstanding job of capturing the real moments without overshadowing them. He is intential about shooting organic scenes rather than settings a stage where all the props are perfectly positioned. It has been so delightful looking back at each picture and remembering the moment because I actually lived the moment. So many of my favorite shots I did not even know were being taken. As a photographer Ryan is able to work well within the needs of the bride and her family. He knows how to let the bride (or the mother-of-the-bride) step in with suggestions and he knows how to work with those suggestions in humble yet completely confident way. He is extremely professional and extremely friendly. He can adapt to any wedding style and capture the look the bride was hoping for. Our wedding is a perfect example as it didn't fit into any one theme very well. I am so pleased with the pictures we recieved back from Ryan from the first moments of the day to the end of the night. Ryan also did our engagement pictures which gave us a chance to work with each other so he could get an idea of our style. I highly reccomend choosing Ryan Prins Photography to shoot your wedding. Once you have made that decision a huge weight will be lifted off your shoulders and you will be so pleased with the results.

Ryan, Thank you so much for the beautiful work you did capturing the festive spirit of our wedding event. I could not have asked for a more professional and true artist for my wedding day. Ryan's enthusiasm, attention to detail, expert efficiency with time, and excellent photography skills resulted in high-quality story-telling that I will cherish for the rest of my life! Ryan is also a destination photographer and traveled from Michigan to Princeton, New Jersey to shoot my wedding. I needed a photographer who had the skill and experience to shoot grand cathedrals, but could also appreciate the finer and more minute details of the wedding. Ryan was by far the man for the job. Ryan is excellent to work with. His is both personable and professional. His work shows experience and passion. We felt confident that we were understood in our desires both before, during and after the event. Our wedding was international and he adapted wonderfully to that. When my fiance (now husband) and I were discussing our hopes for our wedding photography, we really wanted two things that seemed opposite...creative, unique pictures (not the run-of-the-mill pictures) and pictures that we would keep for a lifetime (instead of trendy photography that will be dated in six months!). Ryan Prins helped us capture both creative yet classic moments of our special day. One of our favorite parts was how relaxed AND directive Ryan was throughout the day. With bridal party, family, and newlyweds in tow, we definitely needed both! I would recommend Ryan to friends and family alike!

I LOVE my wedding pictures- I am beyond excited with how they turned out! If i had to do it all over again, i would 100% choose Ryan! Ryan is so talented and captured all the special details. He made my day so stress free as he knew exactly what to do. My favorite aspects are his creativity and ability to capture detail. Ryan went above and beyond at my wedding. He was not only the photographer but he lend a helping hand when needed. He went to the site before hand, thought of some good props, and made some connections to get these props at the wedding. He also helped with decorating! He has a great eye for things and knows his stuff about weddings. I also got great photos! I don't regret picking him and appreciate all the hard work he put into making my day special.

Ryan Prins is a phenomenal photographer, and his wedding photography skills are one-of-a-kind. I am so thankful that I chose Ryan as my wedding photographer. He captured unique moments, offered fun suggestions for where to shoot pictures (for example: my husband and I first met in elementary school... Ryan suggested taking some wedding photos in our old elementary school. The photos turned out great and were so sentimental! Thanks to Ryan for the suggestion. We never would have thought of it.), and has a laid-back demeanor that makes getting pictures taken so much fun! I have no regrets using Ryan for my wedding photography. He is a professional, affable, and extremely talented wedding photographer. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an experienced wedding photographer... which is the reason why I'm willing to take the time to post this review on theknot.com :) He will not disappoint!

To say that Ryan and his camera are amazing would be an understatement. Ryan captured our wedding in such a unique and creative way. It was really important to us that we had lots of candid photos rather than posed, and he surely worked his magic. He has an eye for angles and lighting and brought out the best in everyone the day of our wedding. The number of compliments we have received on the photos is unbelievable. Ryan is a fabulous photographer!
