Rye Harbor State Park is located in Rye, New Hampshire (not Concord as the site says).
It is a gorgeous grass lawn that overlooks the ocean and Isles of Shoals. We got married over labor day weekend and we could not have picked a more gorgeous place to get married! Our guests were raving about the venue, plus the weather was perfect. We got married at 2pm followed by our reception. Because it is a state park it is a pack it in, pack it out venue so by 8pm they close the gates.
It's a large lawn with picnic tables, a few benches, and a monument. Included in the rental price is also a 40ft x 80ft tent, which was perfect for our 130 guests. They have bathrooms as well.
The only issue we had was the park employee there at the time attempted to lock the bathrooms at 6pm and our rental agreement was until 8pm. Luckily one of our groomsmen was there and he paid him $100 to keep them open. Our planner emailed the venue manager after our wedding and informed her of the situation and a week ago I received a check in the mail from the park for $100 - a great surprise! If you do book the venue, I would triple check that there won't be any issues with closing the bathrooms because if our groomsmen wasn't there to catch it they would have been closed. I read a review on TheKnot for Rye Harbor and another bride said that the bathrooms were closed on them earlier this summer.
For the price, location, and atmosphere you can't get a better deal! It was amazing.
The park is gorgeous! You really can't get a better view. The ceremony and reception were both at the park.
Note that you are only allowed to set up on the left side of the monument, the right side of the park has to remain open to the public.
The only bad thing we had to say about the park was that we noticed two locks missing on bathroom stalls in the Fall 2014 and found that they were still missing in August 2015, we emailed the park manger a week before the wedding about it and our concern about the bathrooms being locked before the park closes and she assured us that the locks would be fixed by weeks end and the bathrooms would remain open for the duration of the event. However the two locks were still missing and the bathrooms were locked before 6:30PM, when the event ended at 7:00PM and the park didn't close until 8:00PM. They were locked within any notice to us or our guests and several people needed to use the restrooms and were stranded. Thankfully the detail officer allowed some of the men to "relieve themselves" outside behind the bushes, but women were out of luck. This was embarrassing for us to have this happen to our guests!
