Historic Sailors Landing, c. 1790, is an intimate private home on Barters Island, ME. Located one hour from Portland airport, this luxurious property sits upon eight acres of rolling lawns, manicured gardens, and woodland paths spread along 1250 feet of rugged Maine waterfront, leading to a spectacular point overlooking the Sheepscot River. The point can be a unique, intimate ceremony spot. Larger ceremonies can occur on the lawns overlooking the water - various creative possibilities exist. Waterfront access is through a hundred-year-old arched cedar grove with stairs to the dock. There is waterfront docking for arriving guests, plus access to two heavy-duty moorings. The lawns have room for a reception tent for up to 125 persons and a separate cocktail tent with a bar. The main house is a rambling farmhouse, with five water-view cozy bedrooms and 4 baths. three queens, one Cal king with bath ensuite, and one suite with two twins and a full bath ensuite. The downstairs bedroom, with a queen bed and bath, is perfect for mobility-challenged persons. Various cozy sitting areas encourage intimate conversation. There are two kitchens: an eat-in kitchen and a kitchen in the great room with a dining table overlooking the active lobstering cove and neighboring islands. The large deck with a barbecue is perfect for relaxed meals and sunset cocktails. There are further rustic accommodations for five in the bunkhouse, steps from the residence, with one king and three singles in the loft. The elegant boathouse, finished in varnished tongue-in-groove and displaying nautical memorabilia, has two twins in one loft, a party area, and a sitting/office area in the second loft. A rented facility can be supplied. The boat house party area, located directly over the water, is excellent for gatherings anytime. Additionally, you can arrange a lobster bake on-site with our planner or perhaps a private deep-sea fishing trip. Boothbay Harbor area, a prime vacation resort, offers biking, hiking, kayaking, visits to The Maine Coastal Botanical Gardens, schooner cruises, etc. Access to local clubs is possible on inquiry.
