St. Louis Art Museum
Our daughter selected the iconic St Louis Art Museum (SLAM) in beautiful Forest Park to hold her wedding reception. Our family and her (now) husband consider...
ed 4 or 5 other venues, but SLAM was always their first choice.
On the night of the reception, the wedding party, family and friends enjoyed a cocktail hour with delicious class hor d’oeuvres followed by an amazing dinner in the majestic Sculpture Hall and dancing in Grigg Gallery. Our family and friends described the St. Louis Art Museum reception as spectacular, breathtaking, and stunning, and we agree. The St. Louis Art Museum is an A+ venue.
Sarah Heckemeyer, SLAM Events Coordinator, was extremely helpful and knowledgeful on wedding setup for receptions. We had plenty of questions on how receptions are managed there. Sarah suggested we come to see the setup of other receptions and talk with her during those visits regarding our upcoming event. Our reception had several special requests and Sarah showed great flexibility and resourcefulness in finding ways to accommodate us. On the night of our reception, Sarah was on site directing SLAM staff and other vendors to ensure everything went as planned. The SLAM staff were professional, kind, and provided amazing service for our event. Thank you, Sarah, for putting so much effort and attention to detail to ensure our daughter’s wedding reception night was the most amazing evening possible. The staff were amazing, and our daughter’s wedding felt magical.
We highly recommend the St. Louis Art Museum as a wedding reception venue. The artwork at our outstanding art museum made our photos even more memorable. We will remember this most special evening every time we visit the art museum. Neal and Karen

ay. Sarah helped everything run smoothly and answered all of our questions and was amazing during the entire process. We are so happy!
A wedding at SLAM is a magnificent experience. SLAM (specifically Sarah) was phenomenal to work with. Apart from the amazing venue, everything was extremely efficient. We were able...
to create our own Fusion Indian menu (which was amazing), the staff was phenomenal, and ultimately the night went without any hiccups. We will remember this night for the rest of our lives.
The Saint Louis Art Museum was perfect for our wedding! The location speaks for itself, as a memory we can always go back to visit anytime and see wonderful artworks from Beckmann ...
to Monet. It's also amazing to be able to share our history with the same building from the 1904 Worlds Fair! Classic, historic, beautiful, and genuinely St. Louis! We had a lot of family from out of town and we were so proud to share this place with them. Not only is the location a dream venue, but the staff and food was amazing. Rebecca and Mensur were top notch and so helpful along the way. From the dinner tasting to the final moments of the wedding, we were so fortunate to have such a wonderful experience and the Saint Louis Art Museum could not have been better!
The coordinator, Sarah, was great. The space was beautiful. The food was delicious. Because I live out of town, it was nice how willing they were to work with my parents to help or...
ganize things. The wait staff can be slightly overzealous regarding cleaning the table, but that is better than the reverse. The St. Louis Art Museum is such a special place to so many of us that grew up in St. Louis and to have it be a part of my wedding was truly amazing
I cannot express enough how hard Mensur and the SLAM worked to make our wedding perfect! We had a lot of extra requests (open galleries, sweets table, cocktail and reception and di...
nner and dancing, string quartet in 3 locations) and they made it all look and feel so easy.
The catering was a particular highlight. We had passed hors d’oeuvres at the cocktail hour which flew off the plates, three delicious entree options, and a sweets table that guests still talk to me about (months after my wedding). The chef was also so accommodating of our various guests with dietary restrictions, including serious allergies and Coeliac’s, meaning every single one of our guests could actually eat a full meal (a rarity for this gathering).
We also had several guests requiring mobility aids, and the Art Museum is particularly easy to maneuver in; we had use of the parking garage with an elevator that went straight up to Taylor Hall, our cocktail space, and the event spaces are all smooth floor from room to room, no odd steps or bumps or areas of thick shag carpet to stymie the mobility aids. This meant everyone could relax and enjoy the wedding.
I also want to shout out how amazing the security staff were. They were polite, knowledgeable about the art, friendly, problem-solving, and just a joy to work with.
The art, of course, was the big draw for us. We had our cocktail hour in Taylor Hall, which netted guests some great backdrops for their photos, then the ceremony in Grigg Gallery, which has visually interesting and colorful paintings. Dinner was in Sculpture Hall, which Kent a majesty to the occasion, and dancing back in Grigg Gallery. The art made our photos all the more vibrant and our guests had a blast browsing the galleries we had opened (which also provided quieter space for those overwhelmed by the dance floor—another key accessibility element for us).
I cannot recommend the Art Museum enough as a wedding venue. The staff were amazing and our wedding felt magical, even with rain!
We had our ceremony and reception at the art museum, and we could not be happier. It was such a great place to be married. Mensur was so easy to work with and helped us figure out ...
all of the details with no stress. His team did such a great job actually running the event as well. Every little detail we needed taking care of was dealt with. And they had so many nice touches, like the free flip flops for guests with uncomfortable dancing shoes. Our guests loved being able to see all of the artwork during the reception too.
The food was the best wedding food I've ever had. Everyone came up to tell us how great it was. And they were even able to serve warm chocolate chip cookies and Ted Drewes ice cream at dessert like we hoped.
We could not have been happier with the St. Louis Art Museum as our wedding venue. We had 140 guests, most of whom were visiting St. Louis for the first time. What a spectacular wa...
y to show off what our great city has to offer! The drama of Sculpture Hall really blew everyone away. The food was outstanding, as several guests told us it was the best meal they had ever had at a wedding. Forest Park all around gave us beautiful photo opps. Most of all, the service was top notch - we worked with Gabe K, who was very warm, responsive, and professional - a delight to work with. You will never regret choosing SLAM for your wedding venue - truly best-in-class!!
The St. Louis Art Museum is the DREAM wedding venue. This was the ONLY detail about my wedding that I absolutely could not give up. I am so, so glad we were able to pull off our ma...
gical wedding here, especially because the SLAM was where we had our first date, first kiss, and proposal. For our wedding, we had dinner in Sculpture Hall and dancing in Grigg Gallery. My favorite thing about having our reception at the SLAM was writing our own scavenger hunt based on the artworks in the galleries (we rented the galleries surrounding Grigg). We even incorporated the artists from each gallery as our table names. This was such a huge hit with our guests. Everyone loved the grandeur of the architecture and the thought-provoking art pieces. We had RAVING feedback on the venue. Additionally, our wait staff during dinner was super attentive and friendly. Every guest was catered to and taken care of. Finally, Gabe Kveton was incredible to work with. He is so friendly, thoughtful, detail-oriented, professional, and just overall a wonderful person. We were so surprised when we found out that we were actually the first wedding he booked, because he had seemed like such a long-time pro! He was super upbeat and got us excited during our catering tasting, and he gifted us a few items from the gift shop to use as scavenger hunt prizes. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the SLAM as both a wedding venue and as a museum in general. Thanks to Gabe and the rest of the SLAM staff for making our dream wedding come to life!

What a spectacular venue! It was further enhanced by the special exhibition of The Sunken Cities. Our goal in hosting this wedding at the museum, was to showcase St.Louis as the ...
majority of guests were from the east and west coasts. The museum itself can present challenges (vast spaces, acoustics, priceless works of art) , but with the experienced help of Ivy Magruder from Panorama Events, and Sarah Glass of the St Louis Art Museum staff the planning was easy, thorough, and well coordinated.
In addition to overseeing a very attentive staff, Ivy Magruder’s culinary talents were highlighted and displayed when Chef Tony produced delicious meals.
Our guests have continued to rave about the incredible wedding and evening.

Chef Ivy Magruder prepared our reception dinner. I have never attending a wedding with such succulent and delectable cuisine. All of our guest were impressed.

ver a year) to accommodate my mother and I as we navigated the wedding planning waters. Ivy, Sarah and Erica worked diligently with the rest of the staff to guarantee this event would be more than we could have dreamed...and IT WAS! The venue speaks for itself and guests were swooning over the beauty of the space. The food was EXCELLENT! Service was EXCELLENT! Never even saw a line at the bar. That's a plus! I would scream from the tallest peak in STL (not sure where that is) to let every bride know that if they overlook this venue...they really missed out!

azing person to work with to plan our dream wedding reception. The process for everything was super easy. We were even able to visit the rental company and picked out all of the rentals in person. Erica kept all of our choices super organized and double-checked and probably even triple-checked to make sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. When she had questions or wanted to make sure something was correct, she would email or call just to make sure every single detail was perfect. She contacted all of our vendors and organized every delivery for the day of. She coordinated all of our decorations exactly as we specified and the museum was completely transformed with lighting, backdrops, table settings, escort cards, etc all within the hour between being open to the public and the start of our cocktail hour. She was extremely patient and kind to us as we emailed her numerous times, almost on a daily basis, during the weeks leading to the big day. Just as important was the incredible food created by St. Louis renown executive chef of Panorama, Ivy Magruder. During our food tasting we were amazed by the food options we had to choose from. At the reception itself, every single guest's dish was exceptional. Many of our guests were blown away by the food and said it was by far the best wedding food they had ever had. Choosing to have our reception at the Art Museum was the absolute best choice we could have made and we would recommend this venue to anyone and everyone!!
