We are not super “posey” people - for our wedding + engagement photos, Shannon (and Andrew!) made it so fun and made us feel SO at ease in front of the camera. She worked with us the month before to help build our wedding timeline to ensure PLENTY of time is allowed for, and there is no rushing around on your day. You can tell she is a true professional and has done this several times/ knows what works best. As far as her photos/our wedding album, we were stunned by the VARIETY of photos (she was eager to do multiple stops during our couple photos and we are SO happy we did- so many DIFFERENT photos to choose from) - as well as the quality of photos!!! Our memories behind taking the photos themselves are ones filled of laughing, and felt like just hangin’ with a few friends too. Finally, I’d like to mention how incredibly organized, and great at leading Shannon is. When it came down to family photos, wedding party photos - she truly knows how to command a crowd and does it in a way that does not make ANYONE stressed out or uncomfortable. Shannon is a true natural at this and I cannot recommend her and Andrew enough!!! (Note - Andrew is her husband who is the BEST as well and made my husband feel as least awkward as possible especially during the groom solo shots lol) - and to add, thank you Andrew for grabbing us drinks + cocktails left and right during the cocktail hour/photo madness LOL.

When the weather forecast showed rain for the wedding day she helped me brainstorm ideas to take pictures in between the ceremony and reception and reassured me everything would still be beautiful. She created a perfect wedding timeline that allowed me to coordinate with all of the other vendors. On the day of she was so on top of everything and accommodated all of my photo requests. When the strong winds started to mess up my hair a little she was right there to help me fix it. Even though it was raining we still went to the park to take pictures and had the bridal party stay on the trolley so it was just my husband and I and those photos and those moments were some of my favorite parts of the day. Shannon got every detail and I could not have been happier that she was there to capture my day! the most. My grandmother means the absolute world to me. My mom raised me to be present and always take the time to connect with my loved ones. I was lucky enough to grow up next to my grandparents and walk through the woods to see them daily. My grandmother is full of love, sass, strength, wisdom and now is living with dementia. I was so happy she made it to my wedding and also told Shannon I wasn’t sure if portraits would work and to play it by year. Of course our day was magical, and a big part of that was Shannon and her team. She even put her camera down for 45 minutes to help my bridal party bustle my dress! The next month Shannon sent over all of my photos. They were elegant and captured the day so well. Even though the portraits were gorgeous, they weren’t the photos that made me tear up. She captured a magical impromptu moment with my grandmother that will forever be on my wall in every house I live in. My grandmother at one point got up to dance with me, and we were both beaming ear to ear living in the moment. Shannon is magic. She captures those moments that make your heart melt, and ones that can stay with you forever. Pictures truly are worth a thousand words.

on our big day. Shannon’s services are competitively priced for the Boston area and are worth every penny! From the very first meeting at her office, Shannon made us feel at ease. She listened attentively to what we were looking for, but also explained her photography style, including by showing us samples of her work. We loved that Shannon’s photos felt personal and each one told a story. When it came time for our engagement session, Shannon helped us pick a location that was meaningful to us as a couple, but would also be an esthetically good option from a creative perspective. She also sent along tips for outfits, makeup and feeling comfortable in front of the camera. We felt really nervous, but prepared when we arrived at the session to meet Shannon and her assistant, who were already set up and taking scenery shots. Shannon was efficient but creatively brilliant during the session. In a short time, we got to know Shannon as an individual and as a photographer. Within a day of our shoot, Shannon had posted a “sneak peak” on Facebook and we were obsessed. The photos were beautifully edited, had impeccable composition, and perfectly captured the “vibe” of our relationship and our day together. We were excited to see what Shannon would do on our big day! One of the aspects that sets Shannon’s wedding packages apart from any other we explored was the inclusion of a photography assistant (in addition to Shannon and a second shooter if you so select). The assistant that accompanied Shannon on our wedding day, Amanda, was attentive to happenings of the day, was knowledgeable about the “details” that can make a photo perfect, and had a calm, yet excited, demeanor that added to the spirit of the day as a whole. On our wedding day, Shannon was organized yet flexible. She helped us capture the most beautiful, yet fleeting, sunset. She navigated a large family for formal photos and made each member of the bridal party feel special. She integrated creative ideas to more traditional poses. We were thrilled with our final product. We received photos with beautiful colors and lighting and that captured the spirit of the day. On our wedding day, Shannon and her team made sure they captured all of the beautiful moments—both parties getting ready, our ceremony, shots with family, dances, toasts, cake cutting, candids, and many, many shots of our guests enjoying the reception. When we saw her final product, we were wowed again at the editing she was able to do with some of the pictures (for example, the lighting at the time of the father-bride dance was flooded in red on cell phone cameras, but in Shannon’s pictures, you’d never know it). These photos came out amazing, and were used for our save-the-dates. Shannon continued to impress throughout the planning process. They fit in so well that I forgot they were there most of the time! Our wedding was last weekend, so all of the photos are not done yet, but the sneak peak has me waiting at the edge of my seat. This was the first time I had thought about the entire day minute by minute and it was so helpful to have her experience and expertise. We scheduled an engagement shoot, which I highly recommend! It was a great way to practice for the big day. We were not used to getting our pictures taken, but Shannon quickly made us feel comfortable. The weather on the day of the shoot was so dreary, but all of the photos came out so beautiful! Shannon is amazing! On the day of our wedding Shannon and her team were just as amazing. It was so helpful that Shannon has a background in hair and makeup! My lipstick had smeared during our first kiss at the ceremony and Shannon had makeup remover and concealer at the ready to fix it! She also helped take my veil out so that it wouldn’t ruin my hair. Our wedding day was perfect and Shannon beautifully captured every moment. I highly recommend Shannon Matos Photography!

But, as soon as we started taking pictures and she was able to get our crazy dog to sit still for pictures, we were immediately relieved! At our engagement shoot, we were able to get more comfortable in front of the camera and get the nerves out before the wedding! When Shannon and I were building our timeline prior to the wedding, Shannon had asked what we looked forward to the most on our wedding day. And for us, it was to eat, drink, and have fun with family and friends, so she suggested doing a first look. It was THE BEST decision we made. We were able to get the nerves out of the way in a private setting AND avoided having to leave cocktail hour for photos! Shannon and her team executed on the wedding day FLAWLESSLY. They captured every little moment from that day, even a friend who face-timed into our wedding from Australia! The photos came out more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. On the day of, they even packed a thoughtful emergency kit with extra bobby pins, makeup wipes, etc. , so that you could continue looking amazing all day long! o warm, friendly and down to earth. We sat down with her at her office to discuss our vision and particulars and she immediately set to work on a schedule for our wedding day. We booked her for an engagement shoot in downtown Providence and the results were so gorgeous it only made us more excited about our wedding day. I’d like to say it helped us feel more comfortable with her and her assistant to work beforehand, but they make everything so effortless that if I had met her for the first time on my wedding day it still would have been like having a friend there. I’m at an age where I’m in or at several weddings a year and perhaps I’m biased, but Shannon made our wedding day the easiest, stress free and organized day. She kept us to our schedule but in the kindest way. She took everything that we wanted and made it a priority so we didn’t have to worry about forgetting anything. There were remnants of a hurricane that made it a very misty, dribbly ugly day- but still she got us a remarkable picture in our convertible while she was just standing in the middle of traffic. Everyone was where they needed to be at all times and the wedding party never worried about missing photos or or a good time. She even got us the most gorgeous sunset pictures in the practically 40 second window that we saw the sun that day. I could go on and on about all of the individual things that made her amazing, but her willingness to help and true kindness overwhelmed me when we arrived at our reception. After all the wind and rain and a quick jaunt in a convertible, my hair was destroyed. It was half curls and half wolf. Shannon just started taking all of her cameras and equipment off and handing them off to her assistant. She just told him, “I’m not the photographer now, I’m her hairstylist. Hold this and make sure no one needs us.” She then proceeded to help me pin, curl, and try to save my hair. What could have stressed out a bride was actually a nice break away from all the people and she made me so relaxed, I didn’t even care what it looked like because she treated it as such a non-issue (plus worked magic). Whenever I need a photographer I will hands down book with Shannon again without question. It was nothing but a positive experience and the people she brought with her, her assistant and the additional shooter, followed her lead in that way. Unbelievable, one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, and an amazing photographer. She captured our special day so beautifully but we still look like us. It was everything we could’ve hoped for and more.

From helping the men, to helping with my dress, they were more than just photographers. She was there for us and willing to do whatever it was that we needed! She must have worked for hours non-stop to get us those pictures and they were more than we could have asked for! As far as our wedding pictures, we only have a few preview pictures so far but the ones we do have are magazine worthy! We have gotten so many comments on them that we are so excited to see the rest of them!! Shannon and her second shooter Jess were amazing and were willing to leave whatever they were doing during our cocktail hour to come and get some shots of my husband and i hitting golfballs on the driving range :) Something I was very adamant about was having 2 shooters for the wedding and all of Shannon's packages come with a second shooter. Shannon responds to email so quickly and is always willing to lend some advice, even if its not photography related. She is so knowledgable about every aspect of weddings that you are not only getting a photographer but a great resource. Her team was important with drafting the timing for the whole wedding day, and everything couldn’t have gone more perfectly. My wedding was in the middle of winter on Goat Island, Newport needless to say it was freezing outside but there she was outside freezing with us taking stunning sunset photos & first look shots! On the big day she was there with us getting ready and got all the shots of putting the dress on and the bridesmaids. It rained the morning of our wedding and although it wasn't raining during the first look photos, I insisted that we take pictures outside and she was so good about avoiding puddles and making sure to get all the shots I wanted. She was so amazing that she even figured out how to get the veil out and take my hair down for the rest of the night (because I had talked to the hairdresser but none of my bridesmaids could figure it out). She has the whole package and made everything so easy. I am a picky person and I really don’t have any con’s to give with her! You will not be disappointed if you go with her!

She is super organized, responded to every question in a timely manner, and so sweet! Not only is she a great photographer but she and her team helped with my dress throughout the night, made sure the guy's tuxes and boutonnieres were correct and fixed anything else we might have missed.
