Wow! What an incredible find! So lucky to have found the PERFECT wedding photographer for our wedding. Throughout our planning process with COVID, Sam was always extremely responsive. On the wedding day, Sam was extremely chill and our wedding party informed us of how much they enjoyed working with him. Sometimes, people may find photos overwhelming but Sam’s experience wasn’t at all. It was easy and enjoyable. Sam shocked us by finding a hidden gem of a location to take our wedding photos. We didn’t even think of this spot. There wasn’t much greenery at our location, and somehow he found a gorgeous area full of trees and perfect lighting. Sam is extremely talented. His photos are not the boring wedding photos that all look the same. His photos have so much character and color. He’s great at not only capturing candid moments, but also great at photographing the wedding decor (flowers, etc). He really impressed us with how many different photos he was able to take during the ceremony & reception. Would highly recommend!!

My husband is a Patreon member and has always admired Sam's work. His photographer friends and him had always said that if any of them ever got married they would get Sam Hurd for their wedding. And we did! When my husband showed me Sam's work I was instantly sold. I then began obsessing over his Instagram and getting more and more excited to have him there on our special day.  Sam probably doesn't even know this yet but we were already 100% set on booking him before we even had our Facetime call.  Talking with him for even 5 minutes on the call sealed the deal for us even more. We couldn't sign the contract fast enough. We wanted to lock him in! His Personality shined over the call. Even though we were fans and admired his work so much we felt like he instantly treated us like he would a good friend. He was friendly and you could tell that this wasn't just his job, what he does is truly his passion. We had plans for a big 150 person wedding in Las Vegas and then things definitely took a different turn being that our wedding  planning started in early 2020. We new that our  plan for a big wedding needed to change.  We were sitting in my parents backyard one day and said you know what we could just get married right here. Right then and there we change our minds and decided to go from a 150 person wedding to a 10 person wedding.  When we reached out to Sam not sure what his reaction might be he came right back to us with an amazing enthusiasm for our new plan of having an intimate ceremony. Sam Arrived at our house ahead of schedule. He was friendly professional and had every single member of our family as well as our vendors feeling comfortable.  Sam had never met our videographer until that day but it was so hard to tell because the way they work together was flawless. I have told my husband how it blew my mind that although he was around me all day long I barely even noticed because of how comfortable he made me feel. Let me mention to you another amazing thing about having a micro wedding with just family. Instead of having to rush to take bridal images while all of our family and friends waited for us during happy hour at a large wedding, we got to take full advantage of having extra time to spend on bridals.  Knowing the creative genius that is Sam Hurd, We wanted to maximize our time as a couple with him for him to get to be as creative as possible. And we are SO happy we did. If you view our gallery you can see all the magic that Sam created for us. To say we are happy with out photos is an understatement. We are in love with every single image. My advice to anyone hiring Sam is to just let him take the wheel and create in the way he wants to create and watch the magic unfold! We know this won't be the last time we see Sam. He is an incredible photographer and a wonderful person and we're so grateful that we chose him to capture our special day

Let me preface this review by stating, I run a popular wedding venue and have been a part of over 400 weddings. I spend many of my days looking through wedding photos from our venue and the hundreds of photographers we have had come through our grounds. Sam Hurd was one of these photographers who photographed a wedding at our venue years ago. When it came time to plan my own wedding day, I knew immediately which photographer I wanted. Having seen Sam's work first hand years ago, I still found myself returning to those beautiful photos time and time again. There is something uniquely imaginative about Sam's work. His photographs take on a perspective that even someone like me who has seen the same wedding photo of the same venue hundreds of times, was blown away by. If you are not already sold on Sam Hurd by his displayed work, then follow him on instagram and watch his stories, his IGTV, or his patreon and you will begin to understand that Sam Hurd is not just a photographer, he is an artist. I treasure the work that Sam Hurd provided that day and even now, a year later, look back on those photos constantly- not just because of their emotional significance, but because they are works of art. He didn't just capture my wedding day, he inspired me and continues to inspire me every day. Thanks Sam.

Sam Hurd is the Picasso of photography. His creativity and energy is one of a kind. For our wedding, we wanted artistic photos that could pass for gallery prints in a museum. Sam gave us exactly that and more! He was extremely easy to work with - followed the flow of the day and made it fun in the process. Sam's journalistic style is extremely unobtrusive to the wedding day formalities. I was very clear in the beginning that I did not want the theatrical feel that most weddings have. We hired Sam by himself and he was perfect. He captured all the details that made our hearts full. There wasn't a detail he missed. Worth.Every. Penny....probably more!

To share a review of Sam without sharing photos seems criminal, but you'll have to take our word for it. We found Sam when my husband's coworker hired him for her wedding and engagement shoot. He had a style that seemed more inline with what we wanted: less staged, typical shots and more artistic, free-flowing shots. Sam moves quickly during shoots and has an obvious passion for what he does, often getting excited about finding pockets of light or new areas to take photos in. He makes it a point to not scout areas too much so that he can be as creative as possible in the moment. We got over 800 photos from him (engagement and wedding combined) and every single one is a gorgeous shot with none we disliked. We can't recommend Sam enough!

Omg! I wish I could share a photo because this review won’t be enough. When I say he is sooo talented, kind, and amazing, it’s so true. He is worth big bucks because other photographers do nothing compared to his creativity on the spot with whatever environment you give him. He did my engagement photos and wedding photos and he a such a pleasure to work with! Thank you soooo much!!

We hired Sam to be our wedding photographer and we are so happy with that choice. Sam was amazing to work with from the initial phone call to the day of the event. He was incredibly helpful, professional, and kind. This was the most important vendor for us, as we love photographs. We spoke to at least 10 photographers before we found Sam but we are so happy that we did not rush into the decision. Sam has an amazing eye and his pictures are truly one of a kind. We did not want cookie cutter wedding photos. One look at Sam's pictures and you can see that he has an incredibly artistic sensibility. There is a reason that wedding photographers hire Sam to photograph their own weddings!! Sam was great on the day of the wedding. He arrived right on time, took pictures at 2 locations, and gave great instructions. He was highly efficient, which allowed us to spend time with our guests while still getting all the pictures we wanted. The best adviceI can give is to hire Sam for your event. (And then to listen to him when he says he has an idea for a picture/location). You will not be disappointed!

My husband is a wedding photographer, so I knew long before we were engaged that he would want Sam and no one else to be our photographer. We actually picked our date based on his availability (true story, it was about a week after we got engaged). Sam's work speaks for itself (it's beautiful and I will let my photographer husband write his own review with all of the technical and artistic praise), but he was also incredibly fun and relaxing to work with. I am not a huge fan of having my picture taken, but he made it a great experience.

Sam is - the best. He is so good at what he does it's actually a joy to see and even more so to be a part of. All of his images are dynamic and interesting, and he has a million tricks up his sleeve to make each shot unique and truly beautiful. It was pretty clear after doing lots of research on wedding photography that Sam is someone who many other people in his field look up to and learn from. Not only is he crazy talented, but he's just really funny and nice (!) - it was one of our favorite parts of our wedding day to just go around and take pictures with him! Cannot recommend Sam enough. If he is available for your wedding day - book him!!

To put it simply: Sam. Is. Awesome. His photographs are of course amazing, but he is also just a really cool guy to work with. He is super easy-going but extremely motivated, has lots of interesting techniques up his sleeve, and makes you feel at ease in front of the camera. The day of the wedding, even though we knew he was there working his tail off, he never stuck the camera in front of our face or got in the way of anyone for a shot. We felt like he was just one of the guests and he even helped my husband clean off his tux when we got cake frosting on it. On the business side, Sam was very gracious in working within our budget and was easy to reach despite his busy schedule. We HIGHLY recommend Sam if you are looking for a photographer with the absolute best taste, skill, and personality.

If I could give 10 stars I would. We flew Sam down for our wedding in Florida. He was professional, quick and takes the most gorgeous photos. You worry about nothing because whatever thing he has you doing you know the picture will turn out amazing.

He truly is "the photographer's photographer". We were so happy with our engagement and wedding photos. He delivered them to us within a month, which is really quick! He has a style which is uncommon in the Manhattan area, so I booked him from out of town. We were able to schedule the engagement session easily during one of his visits to NYC and got to know him during the shoot. He is so incredibly laid back and easy to work with. He creates art so effortlessly, capturing the candid moments of laughter and love between the couple. My husband and I felt extremely comfortable with him and trusted that he would document our special day beautifully. He is known for his use of natural light, prisms, and lenses to create artistic portraits. We received over a thousand photos from our wedding and my only regret was not getting one of us with him!

The best there is. Period. Worth every penny and more! Words cannot express how blown away we were when receiving our wedding photos. How beautifully this talented artist captures a moment. He has such a unique vision and creates interesting, gorgeous works of art that will hang in our home for years to come.

Our wedding was last weekend, so I haven't quite seen our wedding photographs yet; however, I have full confidence in Sam's work. Sam completed our engagement photos as well and they were absolutely amazing! We ended up using them for our table numbers at our wedding as well as during our bridal showers. Everyone mentioned how great the pictures were and that they truly captured Kris and I. Sam was always responsive to any questions we had prior to the wedding--even when he was traveling abroad he would email us back. Sam and his fellow photographer, Julia, were with us all day of the wedding and were wonderful. They were super professional, easy going, seemed to be everywhere capturing the night, and had such a positive energy the entire day! They made the wedding experience so much more enjoyable. I would recommend Sam Hurd Photography to anyone for any type of event he could help with.

Our relationship started with our photographer, about five months before our wedding. He shot our engagement pictures which came out amazing and then shot our wedding weeks later. Sams work definitely speaks for it self and is truly amazing, but aside from that. The man is truly gifted with personality. He is always responsive, alsways on time, always creative and willing and accepting. His energy is fun. He's totally sweet. His packages are so affordable for what he's offering. He doesn't put a time limit on anything, except the rehearsal dinner. He's just amazing. We had him the entire day of the wedding and he captured all of the right moments. He also hired him for the photo booth and that too was amazing.
