She mentioned that she might have another bride book on the same day but wanted to schedule a makeup trial anyway in the next two weeks. It was quite obvious that she was going to ...
take my money and then say the other bride booked. No mention of what would happen if the other bride put down a deposit first. She seemed more interested in getting a trial done and getting my money.
Sam did the makeup for me and all of my bridesmaids for my wedding, and she did a PHENOMENAL job! Everyone looked effortlessly beautiful, and Sam was able to work quickly without c...
ompromising the quality of the look. She is also one of the kindest and friendliest people I have ever met. I am so thrilled that she was available for my big day. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a makeup artist!
I will start by saying her quality of hair/makeup done is very, very good, but the lack of professionalism in terms of business is a problem. Avoid this one!

th her and did not end up booking because she just likely lied to us (see details below). We are not idiots like she thought to just fall for the lies. We found much better, honest people options for hair and makeup!

What happened? I received a recommendation from a makeup friend of hers (who had done my makeup before while living in another state) so I decided to try this even though she had no reviews online and I usually don't like that. I did a trial run the day before Thanksgiving, and said on the spot that I'd like to book. She said she'd send the contract to me right after Thanksgiving- that coming weekend. A week later, she still had not sent it. I texted; no response. It took 10 days to receive a response from her, and then it was an excuse how her phone was acting up (probably a lie, based on the subsequent events). She then said her cousin got engaged on Thanksgiving, and picked my wedding date, which was about 6 months out. First of all, hardly anyone 1) gets engaged and picks their wedding date/venue/location everything ALL completely set up within a week of becoming engaged and 2) all that done for a date that is only 6 months out, considering most photographers are booked 12-18 months out and same for venues. So, this seemed incredibly fishy to us; we have since mentioned it to several friends, family, coworkers, etc. and everyone has agreed this is very unlikely. And, if that was correct, if you knew on Thanksgiving, she could've told me that. I never got the contract on the 2 days after Thanksgiving when it was promised, and I had to contact her to ask where it was (if that was true, you'd have contacted me first and been more professional about this).
My texts were ignored. I still have the texts and proof.
VERY unprofessional. her only apology was "it's out of my control" per the texts I still have. We understand a trial is not a contract and said we know that, but the contract was promised to be sent right then, and it wasn't. The lack of communication/ignoring texts and then coming back with some weird story is not a good business practice. We think what it really was, was that it was right before Xmas, and she needed some extra cash from our trial run for gifts or something (and was already booked on that day by another party), and knows we can't prove it that we got ripped off for a trial that was never going to be able materialize into a booking.
If this really was the truth about the cousin, a decent person would have a policy in place for this so that a customer doesn't feel screwed- we had said on the spot we wanted to book, she knew this; something should've (at the very least) been partially refunded for the trial when this cousin thing "magically" came up after ignoring my messages/not sending the contract in the promised time frame. We asked; she refused.
I purposely waited to post this review until after my actual wedding, because my mom didn't trust someone like this to not try to mess with something since she knew where my wedding was being held, etc. My dad called it "might be a blessing in disguise" for the actual day. Everyone we've mentioned it to agreed it's quite fishy.
None of our other vendors pulled any crap like this. I've since blocked her texts.
