well! It is absolutely beautiful, take a look at historysmc.org. We had our ceremony in the rotunda, dinner in the courtroom, and dancing in the rotunda.
It would be better if they had a dressing room upstairs for the bride. we used the public bathroom. Not so good.
For the place itself I would give 4.5 stars. The place has so much character, not much decoration is needed so that's a plus. We used 3 large vases of flowers and some tulle on the...

The overall experience was more of a 3. The downside was that though the reception fee is reasonable, the price didn't include chairs as I had thought. Also the rehearsal though very straightforward for our civil ceremony, I felt the coordinator could have handled it in a much better way. I felt rushed and like I was imposing on her - so that was annoying. On the wedding day she was in better spirits so at least we had that. Another downside is that you have to wait until after the museum closes (around 430 pm) before you can setup which was a big inconvenience for a Sunday wedding. I felt that wasn't clear when putting down a deposit.
However, the museum was a great place for photos for sure! And it was our wedding so in the end I felt it was magical.

place for dancing - in a rotunda area with a wonderful mosaic floor. The staff we dealt with at the museum were great, too. They took care of all of the details and we weren't left worried that something wouldn't be done. Finally, this place was much cheaper and much more unique than other reception venues in the area.;I can't really think of anything negative about the site. We really enjoyed every aspect of it.

the rotunda (dancing under the lit glass ceiling was amazing). Also, due to the round shape of the dance floor, it made it easy to spend time with guests and still be at the center of the dance floor.;If you are not into historic items, great architecture or are trying to have a cookie-cutter location - this is not for you.
