With over 19 years experience in the beauty industry, my passion is Makeup Artistry and all-things-beauty. As a Professional Artist & Regional Trainer for MAC Cosmetics for the last decade, I've honed my skills & technique as an artist while helping develop hundreds of other young artists.
Whether you're looking for that Classic look, or a more Modern flair, or somewhere in between, I know how to listen, helping guide Brides & Grooms of all ages, based on who they are and the type of memories they're looking to achieve.
I've been a true Clean Beauty enthusiast since before it was trendy, happily working with clients of all skin types, tones, and textures. I'm always equipped with an array of beauty products that are friendly to a variety of skin types, AND the environment.
After performing hundreds of weddings, video shoots, runway shows, events, corporate functions, and private & celebrity clients, I am uniquely qualified to be your Wedding Day makeup artist.

Sandy is an absolutely incredible makeup artist. She exceeded every one of my expectations and made me feel incredibly beautiful on my wedding day. She was one of my favorite vendors to work with! Her expertise and professionalism were clear from the onset. It’s also worth mentioning that I didn’t have a formal bridal party, so it was really difficult to find someone to do makeup just for me, my mom, and my mother-in-law. Sandy traveled to the venue to do makeup just for the three of us. Not only is Sandy’s work amazing, she is fun to talk to and clearly just an all around really lovely person. I highly recommend working with her!
Sandy did my makeup for my wedding, and I honestly don't have enough good things to say about the whole experience! I am a pretty novice makeup user, so I wasn't entirely sure what I was looking for. She helped me come up with a flattering and event-appropriate look during the trial (and gassed me up the entire time, it was great!). On the day of the wedding, the look was exactly the same. She even set me up with her hairstylist, so both aspects were cohesive and perfect. I have never felt more beautiful and confident than I did after Sandy did my makeup! I wish I had more opportunities to use her services. Thank you again, Sandy, you're the best!
Sandy's professionalism and artistry cannot be underestimated. She did an amazing job on a variety of skin types and textures in my bridal party, and everyone's makeup lasted all night (even the after party). Not only that, she is an excellent communicator, making planning and coordination a breeze. Plus - the perfect person to spend your morning with on such a stressful day!

From our first contact, Sandy was terrific. She is a consummate professional, but also an incredibly lovely human being. I am so grateful that my bridesmaids and I worked with her. As an older bride (I'm 61!) and someone who doesn't generally wear a lot of makeup, I was a bit anxious about whether I even wanted to hire someone to do this work for me. I'm so very glad that I chose Sandy--and the women in my wedding party adored her too. She made all of us look and feel absolutely gorgeous. We haven't gotten official photos back yet (I will add shots when we have them) but even the spontaneous snaps are beautiful. She is mature, insightful, a lovely presence and did an exquisite job. Hire her with confidence!

Sandy was professional, considerate, timely, and extremely patient throughout my wedding day. Her experience paired with her extremely personable approach/attitude is what really made it easy for me to chose Sandy for my make-up. She listened to me and completely understood what kind of look I wanted for my wedding day.
I found Sandy after a trial with another MUA did not go well. Sandy made the process at my trial very collaborative - she would ask me my preferences, clearly explain my options and her recommendations, and then show me the progress throughout the process so I could give feedback and we could adjust if needed. My makeup on the day of my wedding was perfect for me and held up beautifully. Whenever I’ve been a bridesmaid in the past, my (now) husband would usually say “it’s nice, it just doesn’t look like you”. On my wedding day I felt like an elevated version of myself, and my husband said it’s the best makeup I’ve ever had done (and I agree!). Sandy worked so well with my bridesmaids, they all had very positive things to say about the experience. After everyone’s makeup was complete they did touch ups on everyone which was great. Gabriela also worked with Sandy the day of given the size of my wedding party and did fantastic work as well! It was such a great experience working with them both and I’d highly recommend for your wedding day or any special event!

Sandy is amazing! I was nervous about getting dolled up for my wedding, as I usually don't wear much makeup. She made me feel so comfortable and at ease and was very collaborative. She is a pro at what she does and made me feel beautiful on my wedding day!
Having Sandy as a part of our wedding day was the BEST. DECISION. EVER. Not only does she bring bubbly, positive energy to what she does, but she is also incredibly talented at what she does. I am not a regular makeup wearer, and so I found it hard to decide and describe what look it was that I wanted for the big day. Sandy was able to ask all the right questions and create something that somehow fit exactly what I wanted! I have never felt more beautiful or confident in how I looked. The makeup looks outstanding, both in person and in photos, and having such a lovely human around on wedding morning was so important to maintain the exciting energy that me and my bridal party needed! Sandy is very communicative throughout the planning process and is VERY organized, which is crucial for any wedding vendor. She is truly someone you want to have on your wedding team!

From the get go, Sandy was quick to my questions, polite and professional, and had the most approachable demeanor. She has a heart of gold and welcomes you with open arms, and truly helps bring out your beauty inside and out. I came in with only one photo for her, and despite this, Sandy understood my vision, asked me to trust her expertise (I obviously did), and I was FLOORED by my results. She made me feel gorgeous, but also made me still feel like myself, not a dolled up, fake version, which is EXACTLY what I wanted. I'm confident you could see my skin from space with how dewy and glowy she made me look, and I can't describe how amazing she made me feel. On top of that, my bridal party/parents were all THRILLED with their makeup - I have been to plenty of weddings where someone in the bridal party gets upset that their makeup isn't what they wanted, but I knew with Sandy there was no chance. I can't recommend her enough for your wedding, engagement, or truly any big event!!
I found Sandy after my original vendor canceled on me and that was a blessing in disguise! Sandy and her team were easily contacted via email, flexible and friendly. She made the entire process fun and stress free. She made sure to bring my vision to life and made me and my bridal party look naturally beautiful. We were also all able to get spray tans at Glamour girl tan to look our best. On my wedding day, her and her team were on time and worked quickly and efficiently. We were ahead of schedule which helped with my stress levels and allowed for more touch up time. For my makeup, she did a facial massage to help me relax and even tweezed some rogue hairs so I looked perfect in close ups. I also had a member of my party that requested to use her own makeup and no hairspray for her hair and Sandy and her team were very accommodating of her. I would recommend her company to anyone looking for a hair and makeup vendor for their special day!

Sandy is simply the very the best at what she does! After spending hours and hours online looking at wedding makeup artist websites which were mediocre, artificial looking and adopted a ‘we do everything wedding’ cookie cutter approach, it was so refreshing to stumble upon Sandy’s website. Her area of expertise is unapologetically makeup only. Although she has partners who offer hair styling services if needed. A curated artistic and holistic approach to beauty would best describe how Sandy works with her clients. She takes the time to understand your esthetic objective and what does and doesn’t make you feel comfortable and beautiful. Personally, I don’t typically wear a lot of makeup but was going for a stunning but natural look for my wedding. I did a trial session with Sandy and could not believe the transformation! At the trial session we critiqued ‘the look’ and she took notes on tweaking a few things for the wedding day. She has an incredible eye and artistry for working with one’s bone structure, face shape, skin color and age to select colors, lashes and degree of makeup that will transform you into the most beautiful version of yourself. You will not believe how gorgeous you look and feel after leaving Sandy’s studio. She is exceptionally talented with eyes too. Sandy is an incredibly talented artist and has even done makeup for Hollywood stars when filming in Chicago. She’s a rockstar and you will love working with her!

Sandy is a fantastic makeup artist and I am happy I chose her for my wedding day makeup. Her communication from the beginning was professional, responsive, and thorough. On my wedding day, she came to my apartment and set everything up. She was energetic and made me feel comfortable. Throughout the process, she gave me a handheld mirror and let me check the progress of the makeup application to make sure I was 100% satisfied at every step. I didn't have a specific idea of what I wanted so she asked me some questions and created a beautiful soft glam look that I loved. Sandy is everything you want in a make-up artist – talented, timely, communicative and calming. She did make-up for myself and most of my bridal party. We had varying levels of comfort with makeup and she worked with each of us to get a makeup look that made us look STUNNING but still feel like ourselves. She made the whole experience relaxing and she is such a delight to talk to. And our makeup lasted all night! Would 100% recommend Sandy for any makeup needs!
Sandy did my bridal look and the makeup for my maid of honor. Both looks were exactly as they were at our trial, and the final results were STUNNING. The products she used were lightweight and lasted all night without looking "cakey". The application was absolutely flawless and I felt like a polished version of myself. Sandy was professional, polite, knowledgeable, experienced, and incredibly easy to work with. Sandy is literally the best! She truly puts the "artist" in "makeup artist". During the trial, I had an idea of what I wanted, but also wanted to implement some of her ideas. This "teamwork" of ours resulted in the perfect look. She is thoughtful, and also took diligent notes during our trial. We also had a seamless experience getting ready on my wedding day. My makeup lasted all day, no smears or running. Outside of it all, Sandy is fun to be around!
I had a great experience working with Sandy as my make up artist for my wedding. To have a natural and beautiful looking make up for my day was one of my biggest concerns as I didnt want to end up not feeling like myself. Sandy was the perfect choice for that, she got my vision right away and was able to implement it perfectly. I felt beautiful and just like myself on my special day while the make up felt light. One of my bridesmaids initially did not want to get professional make up as she also was concerned about it looking too much and artificial. After she saw Sandy styling me and other bridesmaides she decided on the spot to also get her make up done by Sandy as she loved her style . Furthermore, I got the spray tan from Sandy a few day prior to my wedding and I was very happy with that, too. Sandy was professional throughout the whole process and I can definetelly recommend her to anyone wanting to look beautiful on their wedding day.

During our wedding makeup trial, she took her time explaining to me all the products she was using and really listened to my vision for what I wanted my wedding makeup to look like. Sandy was the BEST wedding decision I made! Reminiscing on the day, I couldn’t have pictured my wedding day without her. From the very beginning, she was always extremely responsive and explained all parts of the process. Any questions I had she was quick to answer! I felt unbelievably beautiful the day of my wedding. Initially, I was so concerned that my skin concerns would be noticeable or that I would need so much make up to cover up those skin issues that I wouldn’t recognize myself. Sandy put all those worries to rest and she helped me bring out the best version of myself without looking like someone completely different. From our initial communication, Sandy was wonderful to work with! Before selecting my make-up artist for the big day, I spent a considerable amount of time doing research. Sandy was like no other make-up artist I found and interviewed. She was highly trained and previously work for MAC and Estee Lauder companies. She’s also done NY Fashion Week and worked on a few celebrities! With her experience and glowing reviews from other brides, I knew I wanted to work with her. The bridal trial was beyond my expectations. She assessed my skin and used very high-quality skin care products to prep my face for make-up. For a moment, I thought I was at a spa getting a facial. Once we got started with the make-up, she was very systematic and involved me every step of the way. It was a perfect balance of asking for my preferences and providing suggestions based on her professional experience. I was particularly impressed with her attention to detail and creativity to enhance facial features. At the end of the trial session, Sandy gave me some important advice for a glowing skin and I religiously followed it and so glad I did! On the big day, Sandy and her work was exceptional! I never felt more pampered and beautiful. The girls were very impressed with her work and both mothers loved their make-up. Our make-up lasted all evening. I could not have asked for a better experience. I will certainly reach out to Sandy for other engagements. Thank you very much for making my wedding day so special!
Sandy is incredible at what she does. From the trial to the day of, she made me feeling comfortable and understood. She enhanced and elevated my natural look with clean beauty products that felt great on my skin and lasted the whole day, including an outdoor photo session after the wedding reception. Sandy is truly an incredible artist and human inside and out and I would recommend her to anyone looking for an artist for their wedding day! She is a true collaborator and professional, and genuinely listens and understands when the person she's working with is talking about the look they want, how they want to feel, etc. Sandy did my makeup for my wedding day as well as my mom's, 17 year-old sister's (a bridesmaid) and two of our groomsmaids'. She was working with a very wide range of ages and preferred looks, and truly nailed every single one of them. Everyone left the chair looking and feeling so confident.

I enjoyed every second working with her, she is a true professional and a master of her art and I am more than a little bummed I don't have another wedding! :) Sandy was super communicative from the jump when I contacted her more than a year out. She absolutely nailed my vision for a natural glam look for that lasted well into the night. A true stand out, she was kind enough to stick around to help put my veil on the day of - I would have been totally lost without her. I didn't have a bridal party but opted for hair/makeup for both the moms - they looked stunning as well! I cannot recommend Sandy highly enough. (Her spray tans are also amazing!!)
Sandy is such a talented and patient makeup artist! My makeup was absolutely perfect on my wedding day and I felt incredibly beautiful. I was a bit unsure of what I wanted in the makeup trial. After looking at the photos that Sandy took at the trial, I decided I wanted to go in a more glam direction vs a very natural look. We discussed the changes I wanted to implement and she did a phenomenal job. The makeup looked flawless and lasted all day. She also did my maid of honor’s makeup and she looked very glamourous. We worked with a hair dresser Sandy recommended and we both thought Gabrielle did an amazing job with our hair!
Working with Sandy was an absolute breeze! She is warm and thoughtful and easy to speak to and feel comfortable with. She arrived on time for both my trial and my wedding day and really worked to get to know me , my style, and my preferences. I met Sandy at Glamour Girl Tan and when I got engaged had no hesitation reaching out to have her do my wedding day make-up. We did a trial run, made a few adjustments from there and I couldn't have been happier. Sandy listens to what you want and the look you are going for and then creates from there. She is extremely talented and brings a sense of calm to the whole process. She was timely and so easy to work with. She did my make-up as well as my 3 daughters and officiants. She even helped me with a hair debacle the next day for my wedding brunch. I got so many compliments and felt amazing!

Sandy was amazing. She is super responsive, flexible, and came to my house to do makeup for my whole wedding party. I felt so comfortable with her and loved the products she used (mostly MAC). I wanted a more natural look and my makeup was exactly the way I envisioned it. It stayed on perfectly all day and night, through dancing, unexpected tears, + an unseasonably humid fall day! Sandy was a joy to work with. I have sensitive skin and find a lot of makeup bothers me. I had NO issues with any of the products Sandy used and my makeup lasted all day, both for my bridal trial and on my wedding day. She is a true professional who went above and beyond to make sure I had the look I wanted. I also love that she does flower girl makeup at no charge. Ruby was so excited to get her makeup done. My makeup was flawless on my wedding day and she was incredibly knowledgeable and professional, helping me come up with the perfect look when initially wasn't sure what make up approach I wanted to go with. I also have somewhat oily skin and even on a warm and slightly humid day, my makeup stayed put and fresh looking into the night!

Not only is Sandy very talented, she's also a professional in all the sense of the word! I loved working with Sandy because she made every step from initial contact to day of the wedding as seamless as I could've hoped for. I was initially impressed by her organization and timely response time, then I got to meet her at my trial and saw what she could do! Sandy is very skilled and makes you feel comfortable right from the start. She was able to interpret my vision with my very limited make up knowledge perfectly. She had great suggestions and made me look absoluutely flawless. I loved my make up and received lots of compliments! Sandy was the consummate professional from consultation, to makeup trial and throughout the entire wedding day. Absolutely loved Sandy and her work! She added such positive energy and joy to the occasion with her upbeat and kind personality. Sandy was a great listener and super attentive to any specific considerations or personal choices and provided her honest expertise on what would look good catering to my skin and features especially for someone like myself who is not so familiar with doing makeup. Throughout the appointment, she would regularly check in to make sure I was happy with everything. She even thought of everything from outfit choices including western and indian cultures and to what would look good on camera based on different venues for the photoshoot and what would last the entire day. Sandy was thoughtful enough to address points I hadn't even thought of (ensuring skin tone on neck and shoulders aligned) and provided a little pouch to take with me for touchups. As well, she was extremely professional and patient and is just extremely good at what she does! Sandy came over to my place to save me time on the day and brought every single item that may be needed for my skin tone and type. She made me feel beautiful with and without the makeup and did a great job of enhancing my look without making the face appear cakey or overdone. Sandy was the best choice I made during my whole wedding process. She is kind, intelligent, and knows how to read people. On my wedding day, I woke up with a stomach ache and a few prenuptial jitters. Sandy offered a beauty meditation and reiki. After a few minutes, my energy changed and I felt calm, centered, and my upset stomach went away.

Do yourself a favor and hire Sandy Thinnes, the best makeup artist on earth for your wedding. She was the best decision I made while planning for mine! I’ve seen her work before and knew she’d be the best out there and I knew I wouldn’t trust anyone else on my big day. Here’s my honest review:
Professionalism: Even though my wedding was a destination, Sandy was prepared and traveled with her kit. She was early for my trial and the big day. She did some of my bridesmaids and my mother as well, but I was her main priority. She made me feel calm and kept track of time and never had to rush. While planning the big day, she even made me a schedule for everyone’s hair and makeup so we could get through the morning calmly and efficiently.
Talent: Sandy has a way of bringing out my best features and making my eyes pop. I’ve never felt more beautiful, but at the same time I still looked like myself, not someone wearing gallons of paint. No matter how hard I try, I can’t replicate it. She’s truly an artist.
Poise/Personality: Sandy is so sweet and funny, she made all of my bridesmaids and I feel so comfortable. She genuinely cared about us enjoying the day.
There’s lots to stress about on your wedding day, but many of the details don’t matter. The one thing you’ll always have to look back on are your photos and videos, so make sure you look amazing in them!
Sandy did my makeup for my wedding trial and day and I can’t recommend her enough! We got married in July 2020 during COVID-19 and I really appreciated how flexible and understanding Sandy was. She was always prompt in her communications and she has such a personable demeanor. She just makes you feel special. Sandy immediately put me and my bridal party at ease with how serious she was taking safety precautions (sanitization, mask, air filters, etc.) which meant a lot. I really appreciated that she took the time to understand what I wanted and made sure I felt my most confident. Everyone’s makeup lasted the entire day and photographed so well.
After going through a few makeup trials, I was so worried about how my makeup would look on my wedding day, until I found Sandy. I was so lucky to have found her to do my makeup for the big day!!!! I looked and felt beautiful, but still looked and felt so much like myself, but extra special. Not only did my makeup look incredible, but the day of she was so relaxed and chill and fun, she added more joy to the getting ready portion of the day that I'm so grateful for and it couldn't have been replicated by anyone else. Hi, I'm Sandy! I've been a makeup artist for over 20 years. The majority of my career was spent as the Regional Trainer of Education in the Midwest for MAC Cosmetics. In most recent years, I've provided makeup support at New York Fashion week, makeup consultation to Chicago-based production makeup depts., and support to celebrity clients.
In 2020, I became a cert. Mindset & Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. I combine these modalities in a Beauty Coaching Program to help brides level-up their beauty from the inside-out and ensure total radiance and wellness for their wedding day.
