Sara Rieth: Romantic Storytelling Wedding Photographer♥

e best day of our lives, I spent most of the time trying to comfort my wife who was crying and extremely upset with how terrible the photos were. First off, we received the photos back in less than two weeks when it should have taken at least a couple months of editing. The photos just looked like they were all edited with one filter and then she called it done. Many of the photos had random objects in them that should have been cropped out but were missed. Our ceremony photos have the second shooter in all of the photos because she was standing up, right in the middle of the shots. We missed out on tons of photos, even providing her a list did not get us very far. We paid to have a trolley to take us off site, so all of our photos wouldn’t be in the same place. Thinking Sara would take photos on the trolley (posed and candid), she took maybe three photos and called it good. My last remark is that her social media post slamming her clients when she gets a bad review. Sounds like it’s pretty common and definitely unprofessional. Why would anyone consider hiring her has a vendor after listening to her bash other couples? In one of her rants, she flat out said that bride’s expectations are unrealistic, and they need to stop looking at Pinterest. What couple doesn’t want the most perfect wedding? Every bride and groom want their wedding images to look back on and reflect memories of their perfect day. Many of our images show random camera equipment, a second shooter standing up in the middle of multiple images, over exposed filters, and Sara’s sparkly shoes in images where she does not know how to shoot photos with mirrors. Sara robbed us of having everlasting memories. If she can’t meet basic wedding photography expectations, maybe she should take her mediocre photography business and keep it in Wichita.

king about her marital problems such as an addiction to adult videos, she was unprofessional in every way. Sara does not know how to handle a big Kansas City wedding. She does not know the layout of Kansas City and brides you will be fully disappointed in trusting her. One of the main reasons I hired her was for her bright and happy photography. What I mainly got were over exposed photos that I had to spend hours editing, due to her putting the same filter on every image that actually changed the color of my flowers. This caused my florals to look completely different than they did in real life, or some images looking way too bright than they needed to be. Sara was incredibly lazy when editing that when going through my images I found countless photos with other cameras in the frame or even my videographer’s full arm and camera in an image, she didn’t even bother to crop them out when delivering the “final” images. My favorite is how I will always have her sparkly shoes in some of my photos because she does not know how to properly photograph mirrors. To show others how careless Sara is with her photography, the image that every bride dreams of where she is kissing her new husband, Sara’s second shooter (her mother) is standing up in front of everyone with her camera and is the center of attention. When I asked Sara about this, she immediately had an excuse blaming another vendor. Every one of these images I asked her about, she had an excuse. Nothing is ever her fault and for someone who you trust to photograph you wedding and pay a lot of money for, she failed. I describe her best as this, a one and done photographer. She got a few beautiful images for social media and her portfolio, and then the rest she could care less about. One of the biggest things that stressed me out was wondering who was going to be her second shooter. When I hired her, she mentioned that it was either her mother or a fellow photographer that she sometimes uses. Leading up to the wedding, Sara kept talking about how she was impressed with her second shooter at a couple of her weddings. This second shooter she was promoting was her ELEVEN-year-old daughter. The fact that I was having to worry about whether an eleven-year-old was going to be the second shooter at my wedding was ridiculous. I was not spending $5,000 to have an eleven-year-old shoot my wedding. After the fact, it was ridiculous that Sara even had her mother as her second shooter. I was told by multiple bridal party members that she fell asleep on the Trolley, missed out on tons of photo opportunities, and was totally dependent on Sara’s direction. She was totally not qualified as a second shooter. I will never forget the feeling of my heart dropping and instant tears as I went through my “final” photos. These tears were out of anger and sadness as I realized I should have never gone with Sara Rieth as a photographer. No bride should have to experience that feeling when receiving their wedding photos back. If she is going to charge a premium fee for pictures, she needs to be on par with the talent of other photographers in KC, and she just isn’t at that level.

She did not make me feel overwhelmed, but answered any and every question promptly and completely. Sara was so easy to work with the day of the wedding - I did not feel like I was taking photos all day so I was shocked when we got our entire album back (in record time might I add) of over 600 gorgeous photos. She rolled with the punches of our postponement, event changes and vendor hassles due to Covid with ease and even talked me through bunch of things. I purchased a package with her with a couple add on and even though doing some of the shoot wasn't possible before the wedding (stupid covid) she made sure I got what I paid for and did it after which meant I got to bring my groom and she didn't hesitate to thrown him in there!! I absolutely adore her, her outgoing personality just makes you feel happy and beautiful!! I will always call her a friend and definitely will be in her Bride Tribe forever! I will not only have the most beautiful pictures FOREVER but the feeling of love and joy you get when you see them only an amazing photographer can give!! r it was a done deal! I ended up rescheduling my wedding due to Covid, and Sara not only made herself available on the new day, but went above and beyond to make sure I felt supported. I planned my own wedding, so there were times on the wedding day that I needed someone to give direction or be somewhere I couldn’t be - Sara was the go-to girl! I knew my ceremony was in good hands while I waited to walk through the doors. To say she’s a superhero is an understatement!

My daughter had met both of them at the bridal show back in July and had her engagement session just a couple of months later with Sara. From what my daughter had shown me, I was impressed. The engagement photos were just beautiful and truly showed the love my daughter and son in law shared. My daughter would watch videos from Sara that were filled with tips to help brides during the planning process and she even sent us a magazine with more tips and info in it. I was confident my daughter chose the right photographer but had no idea just how amazing the experience would end up being. Immediately meeting Sara, I felt like she was part of the family. They jumped in and helped dry chairs so guests could sit, they found a pretty place inside the venue for family photos so we didn't have to stand out in the cold rain. Looking back, I'm glad I made photographers a top priority because otherwise, I might have been one crazy eyed bridezilla freaking out from the rain. In her place she sent 2 second shooters who were disorganized and unconfident, which led to some awkward and uncomfortable moments. When we expressed our frustration to Sara we were just told that we expected too much. We did receive our photos timely, but it was clear that they were not comparable to Sara's typical galleries (for example: my portraits posed in front of a door with a random logo rather than the beautiful red brick right next to me and family photos that were unbalanced and not centered). We were very excited to work with Sara and while I do understand that accidents happen, she did not handle this one professionally.
