ts. I am very sorry you are disappointed with the outcome of your photos. I think it’s really important for me to respond to this review because it is heavily inaccurate. I work really hard to stand behind my work, have worked 8 years in this business and do everything to make our couples happy. I am most certainly not in business to ruin anyone’s day. I first think it’s important to note I documented your bridal shower prior to your wedding day. Of which, you loved. I’ll attach that blog highlighting those moments. Had you felt displeased with them and that they were of “amateur quality” that would’ve been the time for you to not continue to use me for your wedding. However, we had a situation where your mother was unpleased. This is where I felt it to be very necessary to reach out to you because you are my client and the bride. Your wedding day IS VERY important. I want YOU to love your photos and feel confident in the photographer you hire. It’s important for couples to understand wedding photographers are not one in the same. Styles and approach vary from person to person. This is something I went over with you. I sent an email to you as well as had a phone call regarding our approach which you were very receptive to and the conversation went very well. My email to you went as follows “Hi Katherine! I wanted to reach out as it's very important for me to stay connected with you. I spoke with your mom today and she expressed her disappointment with the candid/non directed photos from your bridal shower. She would like more direction during the wedding. I think it's very important to go over our approach as wedding photographers before the day of so that we are all on the same page. While I most definitely provide direction and posing during a portion of the day, a lot of our coverage is photojournalistic, which means we're hands off. We are very much big on story telling so interference beyond that will affect the quality of your images. With a shower it is similar to a wedding reception. There's a lot going on where I would not stop the natural flow and make adjustments. At the reception for groupings of friends and family if there's something that’s very noticeable I would absolutely fix it but we do not direct during that time because it's fun, it's natural and that's the story we are telling. We do however adjust and organize groupings right after your ceremony, we call those formals. I know your mom was really concerned about this and we will do what we can to make sure she's comfortable. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if you would like to talk further. I want to make sure that you and I are on the same page when it comes to your wedding day coverage.” You mention you don’t have a nice photo of you and your Dad – There are multiple beautiful moments and photos of you and your father highlighted within your blog. Moments that are/were very special. This is an inaccurate statement. You mention you have one photo with your mother. You have a section of the day where it’s just you and your mother getting your dress on, there are beautiful captures of the two of you in that moment which are highlighted in your blog. This again is inaccurate. There are beautiful captures of your parents together which I’ve highlighted within your blog post. The family photo request. The additional formals you requested (the ones in addition to the standard photos of immediate family members) that you put in your questionnaire was a very large list you said your mother wanted. You stated in the questionnaire “My mother will want to have each of her sister’s families group photographed. This may be impossible with the large groups, so it’s not high on the priority list. Just in case, here is the list of grouping’s.” When I spoke to you on the phone we discussed this additional list. You had a very tight (45 mins or less) time in between your ceremony and announcements. These additional formals are done at this time or at cocktail hour which as you know we were with you. We had to document your entire bridal party, the girls and the two of you in addition to setting up for your announcement. I told you that we could photograph these at formals and not take photos of you and Will or we would need to cut it out and try to photograph them at the reception. You agreed that we would remove it and try to get what we could at the reception because photos of you and Will were more important. After announcement your dinner ran well over pushing your first dance back 20 minutes. Which had us with 40 minutes left of coverage. We did in that time run around taking photos of guests/families etc…We managed to round up one large family and that took 15 minutes to organize, that was one family. There would’ve been no time to photograph all of families which again you knew was going to be a struggle to begin with. You and Will photos, with the 45 minutes or less timeframe we were given we were also under a time restraint of 10 minutes with the Packard car you had in pouring rain. The venue had three weddings going on and no where to photograph. We selected the awning because it kept you out of the rain which you didn’t want to be in. We had to utilize this time to photograph you and Will with valet, Cherry Creek employees, and guests of three weddings coming in and out of the door. We have to work with what we are given and we did just that. Leaving the car, we now need to photograph the bridal party with minutes left before your line up. Again, it was pouring rain so we used the dance floor. It was the only space in the building to accommodate the bridal party size. We never had a “break in the sun” but we did have a moment where the rain stopped with maybe a few drops. I insisted you go outside with your bridesmaids because I knew only having the dance floor was not ideal. The entire time you wouldn’t let your dress down fearing it to touch the wet cement and after taking a handful of photos with you and your girls outside it started to sprinkle heavier and you wanted to go back inside. Which at this point you were needed for line up. The dessert table – this was a moment after dinner. The venue approached Lindsey and I asking us to come take photos of the dessert table before they release it to the guests. So we did. Every wedding is different, every single one. We are there to document your story authentically. We are faced with many challenges and work with them the best we can. We can only do what we can to make the best of it. Your gallery is very beautiful. It is a direct reflection of my style and portfolio.
