I hired Sarah as my makeup artist for my wedding reception this past weekend. She was both professional and personable as she worked not only on my makeup but also on that of my maid of honor, bridesmaid, aunt, mother, and mother-in-law. Sarah was so sweet during my makeup trial, and we just clicked so easily that I knew it was going to be an amazing experience on my wedding day, and she didn't disappoint! Sarah made the process so easy and comfortable. The entire bridal suite loved spending time getting their makeup done by her. She was kind as we listened to music, chatted while getting ready, and exchanged stories, getting to know each other. That alone made the morning so wonderful, but then there are also her skills! Her technique is flawless, and we got so many compliments on the way our makeup turned out. It was a hot day, but our makeup lasted the night away. She also gave me a nice touch-up bag to take with me as well. I couldn't say enough amazing things about Sarah. With us, she felt just like family while still being a professional. I highly recommend her services, and I'm excited to work with her again someday!

Sarah was amazing! She had great communication during the exchanges we had and was very accommodating for the trial and last minute change request because some of the bridal party changed their minds last minute about make up! And despite the last minute additions, she still finished with everyone in time for the photos, just as planned! She did my hair and make up for the wedding and it looked amazing, just like how I wanted! It made me feel amazing the whole day! My bridesmaids and my mother also loved their make up! She was also fun to talk with during the trial and during the wedding! I would highly recommend her and if you want to look and feel amazing too!!

Sarah was awesome for my wedding makeup! The pictures are from the trial. Sarah worked with a few changes we made really well and did my husbands hair in a really nice bun with braides. We all had different faxe shapes, complexions, gender aesthetic, and Sarah did a great job customizing the makeup to different preferences. She is also great to have around while you are getting ready! It's a long process if you have 4+ people so someone that's fun to be around and talk with is a huge plus! Sarah is super knowlegable and will listen to you and work with you to get a great look for your wedding!

I hired Sarah to do make-up and hair for a boudoir photo session. She did a wonderful job getting my input before & during our appointment and I was very happy with the results! My hair and make-up definitely helped me feel confident. Her warm, calm energy was perfect as I was a little nervous for my shoot! Sarah is such a wonderful person. The trial for hair and make up was so much fun and got me so excited for the day. On the day of the reception, Sarah did hair and make up for my mom, best friend and mother in law. I loved my half do and the make up. Sarah has been my make up and hair artist for the past 2 years (engagement shoot, wedding make up and hair trial, wedding day and recent family photoshoot). She’s always been good at communicating, asking what type of make up and hairstyle I prefer and just an overall down to earth and easy person to talk to. She’s more than happy to make adjustments to fit your liking while she does your hair and make up. I am writing this review to share my experience working with Sarah, a makeup artist, for my wedding. I booked Sarah in January 2023 and communication was initially good. However, after she canceled my first trial, it became difficult to reschedule. I felt like I had to chase her down to get a new date, even though she was the one who had canceled. On the day of the trial, Sarah was late and her tableside manner was disappointing. For a $420 trial, I expected her to be more friendly, but was met with a lot of attitude. The trial itself was not very successful, in part because I was not specific enough about what I wanted. However, any feedback I gave was met with defensive remarks that pointed blame at me. When I followed up with an email request for changes, Sarah responded that my hair trial problems were because she didn't know what my stylist had put in my hair. I had never seen a stylist before the trial, so I believe she was getting her clients confused. On the wedding day, Sarah did a better job with my hair and makeup. However, her tableside manner was still horrible. Most of my bridal party who had her do their makeup felt that she was rude. At one point, she made unprofessional comments about the other makeup artist we had hired to my MIL, which made her very uncomfortable. Overall, I liked my hair and makeup but disliked my experience with Sarah. After reading other recent reviews, it seems like I'm not the only one who has had this type of experience. I think Sarah needs to improve her professionalism in several areas. She needs to be more communicative and responsive, be on time for appointments, be more friendly and approachable, be open to feedback and willing to make changes, and avoid making unprofessional comments. I hope that Sarah takes my feedback to heart and makes some changes so that she can provide a better experience for her clients in the future. I would also recommend that potential clients read other reviews before booking Sarah. It seems like she has a history of communication challenges and defensiveness, not worth spending $1,600+ for.

Sarah has been doing my makeup and hair for our twice yearly family photo shoots for 3 years now. She is phenomenal and always does such a beautiful job with both hair and makeup - her work really makes all the difference in the photos!

My wedding makeup and hair looked great. I had no issue with the technical work. My ladies and my husband looked great as well. That being said... I had had significant issues with Sarah's communication up until and including my wedding day that caused me unnecessary stress AND money. Sarah was prompt in securing my day and deposit and I was told we would finalize contract details and a trial date closer to the wedding. We were communicating sporadically throughout the first two months to nail down details of who in my party needed which services. And I recognize it was likely chaotic with the 3 changes to the contract I requested. However I did not receive an updated contract from Sarah throughout those weeks- despite me sending edited versions of the contract myself- and we never even signed a final contract. Furthermore, I had repeatedly asked what the timeline of the wedding day would look like (aka when we should start services by) and Sarah would only ask what time each person needed to be ready by and when I responded, I still would not receive a start time. The DAY before my wedding, I texted her personal number to ask what time she would arrive. That was the only heads up I received. She had a habit of forgetting our previous conversations and so I found myself spending a lot of time repeating details to her. I also felt Sarah was very passive in the communication and organization around the trial session. About a month before my wedding, I still had not heard from her about a date for the trial, so I reached out to her. She responded one week later (three weeks before my wedding) with an available trial date that was two weeks before my wedding and I confirmed that date worked. Sarah then responded that the date was no longer available and suggested a trial date SIX days before my wedding. It was- simply put- beyond frustrating and unprofessional. I began to clearly and politely express my anxiety and frustration about the communication issues to Sarah in the month leading up to my wedding. She responded sympathetically and let me know she would communicate more proactively. However I did not notice a difference. The cherry on top was that she offered additional services to my mother in law and my maid of honor directly while doing their makeup without consulting me first. These services were not in my contract, and I ultimately ended up paying about $300 more than originally budgeted for. These additions also held up the wedding party and family of the groom. I felt these services were totally sprung on me and I had no choice but to pay, especially because we were already running late to the wedding venue. Ultimately brides are paying for more than just the makeup or hair. We're paying for peace of mind, clearly set expectations, and organized professionalism on top of it. Why else spend $1200+ for hair and makeup? EDIT: looks like Sarah is attempting to change some details of what happened. I understand perspectives and memories can differ and I am disheartened by her defensiveness without taking accountability. I want to clarify: A) she gave me the choice between a trial immediately after booking or closer to the wedding date and initially said she was completely OK with a trial date in June. B) I had apologized for the three changes in contract but also checked in with Sarah throughout the process to ensure she was OK with this as well as providing revised versions of the contract myself.

We have used Sarah for every one of our company's brand shoots (four and counting). Each and every time she has done a phenomenal job with both hair and makeup for each of our team members. She's professional, super nice, and our glam is always on point!

Sarah was amazing! She is so nice and easy to talk to and made everything so relaxed and easy. The makeup looked perfect and made for some great pictures. Highly recommend!!

Sarah Ren was AMAZING! She is so sweet and friendly! Having her as your hair and make up lady on your special day feels like you have another bridesmaid or bestie in the room! She was one of my favorite venders to work with.

I first worked with Sarah when she did my hair and makeup for my friend’s wedding almost 9 years ago. I liked my hair and makeup so much that I used Sarah for my bridesmaids at my wedding 2 years ago. When I found out I was pregnant and wanted to do a maternity shoot, I immediately contacted Sarah to see when she was available. Her professionalism and skill is unmatched. I’ve recommended her to other brides who have all been super pleased with her work. She is amazing at bringing out natural beauty without being overdramatized! If you’re thinking of using Sarah, stop thinking and start booking!!

Sarah has been great to work with. I hired her for a hair and makeup trial the morning we took our engagement photos and then hired her for our big day! I don’t know what products and sorcery she uses, but your hair and makeup will last - it’s amazing. She listens to your requests and executes flawlessly. I had a group of 3 bridesmaids, my mom, my mother in law, and myself for the day of. She did hair and makeup for everyone and didn’t batter an eye at the number of people. I would allow a little more wiggle room in your timeline depending on the number of girls you have getting ready since she’s a one star show, but what you’ll get is worth it. My future sister in law has hair that doesn’t hold a curl for longer than 10 min, and her curls lasted all night. Again, amazing!

Sarah did an amazing job with my hair & makeup and the rest of my bridal party. Her suggestions and advice throughout the process and my trial were incredibly helpful to getting me to the final bridal look that I was in love with! Not to mention my hair stayed curled the entire night, which is an absolute miracle considering how my hair can't keep a curl for more than an hour on a good day. She worked some magic and I am so grateful! Thank you Sarah!

Sarah was a genius when it came to my hair and makeup. As someone who almost never wears anything more than eyeliner, and as someone with Asian hair that I was convinced could never hold a curl, Sarah was a godsend. Not only did she guide me through what makeup would look good for my big day, but I am also pretty sure she's a wizard because my hair looked naturally curly and beautiful, just as I had always wanted. As a cherry on top, Sarah is personable, sweet, and a pleasure to talk to. I'd recommend Sarah to anyone looking for wedding makeup/hair and will likely rebook her to do my makeup/hair for future fancy events!

Sarah was absolutely brilliant doing my hair & makeup for the wedding day. I went with the airbrush and curly hair down and got so many compliments during the whole day. I am Indian and have brown skin and Sarah was ready to do my color match and listen to any requests that I had - mine was to keep it natural and she did. My hair was going through extra fizziness and had noticeable dry scalp the week of the wedding and Sarah worked with it and I didn't notice any of it during the wedding. We had an eight hour day and I was still fresh at the end of the night after dancing and being outside. She was friendly and although I knew nothing about makeup, made me feel very confident for the day.

I had the pleasure of working with Sarah as my wedding hair and makeup artist, and I can honestly say that she exceeded all of my expectations. From our initial consultation to the wedding day itself, Sarah was an absolute dream to work with. Sarah took the time to understand my vision and my personal style, and she worked tirelessly to make sure that my hair and makeup were absolutely perfect. She is incredibly skilled and talented, and her attention to detail is second to none. I got to model for a wedding vendor event and had the pleasure of working with Sarah. She was such a joy to be around and did a great job with my hair and makeup. She clearly knew what she was doing as it didn’t take very long for her to put the look together. Personally I’m not a fan of heavy caked on makeup. I never wear foundation and dislike the feeling of it on my skin. The products she used and her application techniques made wearing a full face of makeup enjoyable.

Sarah is a miracle worker. I don't know how she does it but she does- and with such humor and grace! We had a small wedding where everyone got their hair and makeup done, which was a first time experience for quite a few. Sarah was patient, really listened to their comments and concerns, and answered questions- lots and lots of questions. Everyone was just fascinated by how she worked her magic. I think at brunch the next day we talked more about the hair and makeup than the wedding itself 😂. My look turned out even better than how I had imagined it (definitely recommend the airbrush). Being an overwhelmed bride who already deals with anxiety to begin with, Sarah was so down-to-earth and easy to be around (plus she loves dogs which is a must around our family!) Sarah is detailed oriented and talented at hair and makeup! She did my hair and airbrushed makeup for my wedding and everything stayed on very well despite the rain on our wedding day. I wanted a natural glam look (look like myself but enhanced). Sarah took the time to get to know my preferences but also provided her expertise/suggestions when appropriate. She is skilled at her job and I can truly tell she is loves what she does. During my makeup trial, she took the time to listen to what I liked and didn’t like, and made sure to execute that on the day of my wedding. Even though Sarah did not do a hair and makeup trial ahead of time with my mom and aunties, she did a beautiful job at all of their hair and makeup on the day of my wedding! My mom and aunties had so much fun getting ready with me and my bridal party on my wedding day, and Sarah was one of the biggest reasons why everyone had an amazing time!

I booked Sarah Ren for my original wedding date pre-pandemic. From the get go I was very clear that I was the only bridal party member in need of hair and make up. Sarah was aware of this as the contract she drew up had only me listed. Sarah was gracious enough to reschedule my wedding due to the pandemic, which I truly appreciate. Unfortunately, Sarah double booked wedding services without even talking to me! When I booked with Sarah, I estimated I would need to be ready by 2:30. I had to change this timeline to be ready by 2:00 pm instead. That was when Sarah informed me that she had booked an entire other wedding early that day! As such, she couldn't guarantee I would be ready by 2:00 pm instead of 2:30pm. This was not enough of a buffer in my mind for any issues with the first wedding party, or even transportation (there was a huge bike race the day of my wedding, so transportation would have definitely been an issue!) And, Sarah wouldn't have even let me know about this close call if I hadn't clarified the time. She later tried to justify the double booking based on the fact I had only booked for myself, but she had never raised this concern with me. If she had, I would have added on services. I do not recommend booking with Sarah Ren hair and makeup simply based on the fact she may double book your wedding and not communicate about it with you. I cannot speak to the services themselves.

Sarah is absolutely amazing!!!! I was SO happy with my entire experience with her. Not only did she make me feel incredibly gorgeous on my wedding day, but she has a calming and kind energy...just what every bride needs on her big day. Plus, we got married on a 95 degree day & my makeup and hair remained flawless all night long through lots and lots of sweat! Thank you, Sarah!!

Sarah did a great job as the hair and makeup artist for my wedding. She was very responsive when I first reached out asking about her services and she sent me a full list of what she offered, including men’s grooming which I thought was a nice touch for my husband. We did a hair and makeup trial a month before the wedding and we were able to make small tweaks for the wedding day. Sarah also did hair and makeup for my mom and mother-in-law and they loved it. Sarah is super friendly and great to talk to!

I got married in April this year. Sarah took care of my bridal hair and make up including 4 bridesmaids. She’s done a flawless work all by herself. Sarah is very professional with her work. My wedding was originally scheduled last year but we ended up postponing it. Sarah was my HMUA but she had to cancel. She contacted me right away and recommended someone else. As disappointing that was, she did what she can to make sure I get someone else within the timeframe. Luckily, wedding was rescheduled this year and was able to book her. She takes your ideas and gives her professional advice. I got ready just in time and make up session went smoothly. I’m happy with my bridal look. She was very responsive through texts and emails. This couple of years have been tough for everyone so I gave grace when she had to cancel because she wasn’t feeling well. I will definitely hire her again if I needed a make up artist.

Sarah was great to work with! She was very patient and took into consideration the look I was hoping for. She made sure to use tones that complimented my complexion! She did a great job on my makeup and hair. She made sure that I felt comfortable, engaged in conversation, and really made me feel like I was hanging out with a friend. I needed a makeup and hair artist for my maternity shoot. I reached out to several artists, but Sarah was the only one who emailed me back and she was very prompt in responding to any further emails and questions I had. She did a great job in making me look and feel beautiful for my shoot! It was very nice getting dolled up after spending months barefaced. I will definitely hire her again for any future events.

Sarah was great to work with from booking to day of service. She was great at communication. She was proactive at asking me for my ideal look in which I'm sure I replied with "natural." She spoke with my photographer and aligned on end results. The pictures turned out amazing and exactly what I needed for the shoot. I knew hair and makeup was a must have for my small wedding. I wear very little, if any, makeup, and am even less capable with my hair, so I was nervous I wouldn’t end up looking like myself. At our trial, I had a few screenshots of what look I thought I was going for. After our trial, I shared pics with a few people and they assured me it was not ‘too much’ makeup, looked like me, and was stunning :) Sarah is clearly used to working with others who feel similarly and was able to make me beautiful for my wedding while also looking like myself. I recommend a trial so you can go into your wedding day knowing what to expect, and having made any updates. For example, I started out with a hair clip I thought I wanted but that was ultimately too heavy for my hair and I was able to buy something else before my wedding day. Last but not least, Sarah is very kind and personable and your time together will fly by :) Thanks Sarah!

Sarah was AMAZING. I was ghosted by not one, not two, but THREE stylists all up until the week before my wedding. My matron of honor (who lives in a different state) worked tirelessly with calls and emails to find someone that could do my hair on-site very last minute. I randomly came across Sarah's page literally 8 days before the wedding, and she called me back IMMEDIATELY. I was so impressed with her speed of response not just on the phone, but via email as well. She truly saved my wedding! She styled my hair and makeup beautifully, as well as my bridesmaids and now husband. She's extremely sweet, personable, and easy to work with. I can't recommend her enough!

Sarah was also able to fit in a last-minute trial, which I'm so grateful that we were able to do. We took the learnings from our trial and she applied them to our final look on the day of flawlessly.
