It was really great to work with Barbara. She was very open to our more non-traditional wedding, to us writing our vows, and allowing us to edit the written ceremony as needed, to make it ours.
Barbara is a very special lady with a wealth of knowledge about every type of ceremony under the sun. She worked with us on our Steampunk wedding, and gave us ideas on how best to make use of the ceremony.
The only reason I'm not giving her a perfect five stars is there were a few misunderstandings about who was responsible for what, and there ended up being a few glitches in the ceremony. Luckily, my husband, Barbara, and I were able to carry on, and have a beautiful, uniquely us ceremony.
Barbara is warm and loving, and is able to guide you without compromising your vision. For a little more than standard rates, you get a champion of your love-story. Can't recommend enough!
I have now been married for over a year, but since Barbara now has The Knot I can review her! I was a long distance bride...grew up in Rhode Island but have since moved...she worked with me back and forth to understand my vision and what we were looking for for our ceremony. She would send me drafts to get my opinion and thoughts...it truly was personalized. The day of the wedding was everything I had hoped for...it was light hearted and some jokes but also discussed the serious commitment of our marriage. It was personal and lovely. I had the pleasure of watching our ceremony on our anniversary and that solidified for me that I made the right decision in using Barbara to perform our ceremony. Thank you for making our day so wonderful!
I was married this past June, and was recommended Barbara by another bride who was very happy with her services - and I could not agree more! We met at a coffee shop about 10 months before the wedding. Barbara worked very hard to get to know us as a couple by asking us many thoughtful questions and taking thorough notes. She stated that she would be in touch with us as the wedding got closer.
One day in the winter there was a huge snowstorm, and we emailed back and forth about our ceremony, and it was almost fully written by the end of the day! This took a huge weight off of my shoulders as a stressed out bride. We made a few more changes to it as the date became closer, and I was thrilled with the final product! It was also nice because she always responded to my emails very quickly...I was definitely appreciative of this.
On our wedding day, Barbara arrived a couple of hours early, papers in hand for my maid of honor and the best man to sign. We looked over the ceremony and took out a few sentences for some final fine tuning.
When it came time for the ceremony to begin, Barbara took charge and put everyone in the place that they belonged. I was so happy to not have to be the boss of everyone on my wedding day! And everything went PERFECTLY.
She made my guests laugh, kept me calm throughout the ceremony, and provided well spoken and heartfelt words that I'll remember for my whole life.
I have recommended Barbara to other brides and I will continue to do so! I couldn't have asked for a better wedding officiant!
I had been recommended to use Say I do by my caterer and photographer. Barbara the owner, worked with my husband and I to figure out our ceremony. After meeting with us she worked on a "personalized ceremony" which she claimed was one of a kind written new for each couple. She sent it to us by email and it had another couple's names in it. So It was not as unique as we thought. I didn't mind the words were perfect and it worked so we continued. Barbara met with me the bride at her home. It was lovely she had made soup and salad for me and we wrote my vows. It took at least 3 hours but we made it through and they were beautiful.
The night of our rehearsal things were a little chaotic and I had a very large bridal party. She didn't do the best of jobs organizing everyone and I took control of the situation.
Our wedding, she almost skipped over our vows that we wrote to each other. Not a big deal. I whispered it to her and we said our vows. At the reception which we graciously invited her to stay for she had gotten my maid of honor and best man to sign our marriage license but proceeded to leave with it. My husband and I had to go to her house the next day and pick it up! Not very convenient......
I also found out that the cousin she had brought with her to our wedding to learn about becoming a Justice of the Peace put her finger in one my cousin's ice cream!!!!! I'm sorry but you do not touch someone else's food! It just grossed me out when I found out about it.
They also proceeded to take my gift which was gourmet caramel apples off the table for my guests and not just one, like handfuls. These apples also had the guest's names on them. I wasn't told about this until after the wedding!!!!!! A few of my guests saw it happen. I am very furious about that one. Especially since it took me days to create the tags on the apples with individual wax sealed stamps on them! I paid for her and her cousin's dinner as vendors and guests and they take my guests gifts?????
Lastly, on my marriage license she wrote we were married in 2003 not 2013! Apparently my husband and I were 13 and 25 when we got married! This delayed my already delayed name changing process because of the shut down even longer because I had to get new marriage licenses!
I am very disappointed with her and her services! I never ever got the idea of her being this disorganized! Completely disappointed.
