About this vendor
By booking Saylor Brothers, you're going to please your family with tasteful bluegrass/acoustic music then amaze your friends with the diversity of what this band can do. Our core 4-piece band is banjo, guitar, drums, and bass, and we play everything from Avett Brothers to Outkast. A lot of jamband fans book us based off of what we can do in that genre, but there's really nothing we can't play. We love to mix it up and surprise our audiences with the depth of styles of music we are capable of playing with bluegrass instrumentation and a killer rhythm section.
We have original music available for listening under the name Brushfire Stankgrass on Spotify & Apple Music, with a new album being released under that name in 2020. For weddings we perform as Saylor Brothers, and the lineup may vary some depending on the occasion. We are the perfect band for anything from a barn to a ballroom, and as our reviews attest, we have never failed to pack a dance floor and make the weddings we play a super memorable experience for those in attendance.
The band is available in a variety of configurations for all portions of the wedding: Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, and Reception. We typically book a combo of 2 of those 3 options for most of the weddings we play.

Absolutely crushed the music at our wedding. We had a two piece acoustic set for the ceremony, 3 piece set for cocktail hour, and full 4 piece set for our reception. We had a lot of guests coming from out of town and we loved that the Saylor Brothers gave our guests a taste of the quality of local music in the area.
We gave a bit of inspiration of the music we like, the band came up with a set list and put on a fantastic show. They played an excellent mix of very good original music and covers that were recognizable for all of our guests which kept the party moving all night.
I would look no further for your wedding band.
The Saylor brothers were the perfect band to complete our Asheville destination wedding! They stay true to the music and that is what we value most. They are the opposite of a gimmick band. If you prefer Talking Heads to Top 40 (which I'm sure they could do very well too), then these guys are a great hire. We had many compliments from guests at our wedding, even from those who are not necessarily 'music' people. They did our ceremony, dinner and dancing music and had a great mix of tunes and styles. The Saylor Brothers were exactly the band we had in mind and we are very happy they were available to play our wedding!
The Saylor Brothers were fantastic. They played some acoustic music for our ceremony and then kept the party going for the reception. We had a blast dancing! Everyone kept telling me after the wedding how great the band was. We loved the jamming and versatility of this band. They were so easy to work with and really made our day memorable.
the saylor brothers were absolutely amazing. they kept everyone dancing and enjoying the wedding. I would recommend them 100% for a wedding band. the guys are extremely nice and professional but more importantly I felt they were just wonderful musicians. thanks so much guys for helping me and james have a wonderful weddong
Saylor Brothers were perfect for both our ceremony and reception!
Played some special requests mixed with songs everyone knows to get people on the dance floor. All of our guests loved the band, live music is the way to go! Our biggest wedding regret was not recording the music it was that good!
The Saylor Brothers played our ceremony and reception. They were wonderful! We continue to have people tell us how much fun they had at the wedding and I think the band played such a huge part in that. My favorite images from the whole day are the ones where everyone is dancing because you can tell just how happy everyone was. Highly recommend!
The Saylor Brothers were amazing at our wedding! We had a blast! Everyone loved the music and had a wonderful time. These gentleman were down to earth and truly professional! They played instrumental music during our ceremony and then had a five piece band for the reception. We would absolutely recommend them for a wedding or special event.
We absolutely loved Saylor brothers for our wedding! They played instrumental for our ceremony and it was super special. Our guests danced the whole time for the reception and we loved the variety of music. They played originals, covers and mashups! Just loved having them at our wedding! It wouldn't have been as fun without them!
Brushfire was amazing!!! They came early and had everything set up timely. The music for the ceremony was exactly what I wanted. And the music after for the reception was prefect too. Ben was awesome to work with. All our wedding guests loved that we had alive band and said it just added so much to the vibe/theme we had.
This band was one of the greatest decisions that we made regarding the wedding. They were very easy to communicate with and always responded promptly. They played all of our specific requests perfectly and made our wedding so memorable. They were super professional yet laid back and as a result we had an absolute blast!! I can't recommend them enough!
Brushfire did an AMAZING job at our wedding. It was very important to us to have a live band with a unique sound and we were thrilled when our caterer recommended Brushfire -- we didn't need to entertain any other options once we heard their music.
First - Ben and his group are easy to communicate with and very professional. They will make you feel at ease - they obviously know what they are doing - which is really helpful with the stress of wedding planning.
Next - They absolutely killed it for the ceremony. We had several guests mention how perfect and romantic the setting was with them playing some light acoustic music leading up to the ceremony itself. They played an acoustic version of Blackbird as my processional song and it was perfect.
Finally - the reception. Again, we got so many rave reviews from the guests not only about their sound, but their selection of songs as well. They knew exactly what to play to get people on the dance floor - and they guys were all super friendly and fun which added a great element to our reception. They were also really open to taking some requests.
I've already been checking their website to see when they are touring near Raleigh.
Do yourself a favor and BOOK THEM NOW!! Thanks again Brushfire!!!
Brushfire was absolutely amazing at my wedding! Since the wedding we have gotten nothing but raving reviews from family and friends about the band. Everyone said it was the best band they have seen perform at a wedding. Mixing covers with tradition bluegrass numbers was amazing. Honestly couldn't have picked a better band for our wedding. Mountains, bluegrass, beer... What else do you really need. The acoustic duo during the ceremony just set the tone for the night. Guys, thanks again!
Brushfire was the best part of our whole wedding! The guys in the band are all super nice and accommodating, not to mention extremely talented. They really made the party and everyone kept telling us how awesome the band was. If you want a band that showcases many different genres and keeps guests dancing, Brushfire is it! Book them!
I was familiar with Brushfire's music before my wedding, and always enjoyed their eclectic mix of bluegrass jazz and funk. I was looking for a small trio, duet to play before and after the ceremony. Brushfire was very accommodating, their price was perfect, and they played their own music as well as took requests from the guests. They also did the best rendition of Purple Rain I have ever heard! (Bluegrass Style).
Brushfire really delivered for us. The music was great, both for the before party (mellow) and for dancing and after. They were flexible with what they played (we requested a slightly different style of theirs partway through, I think I remember) and were willing to play out of doors on a humid, hot afternoon. They are willing also to learn a special song if wanted. Fun band!
Brushfire StankGrass was one of my easiest vendors to work with for my May 2014 wedding! They played at our wedding and reception adn did so perfectly! They were very professional, super talented, easy to work with and communicate with, sung pretty much every song we wanted and was absolutely great to work with! My friends and family danced all night and had such a fantastic time... we are still getting sweet messages about how fun the reception was. If you want an interactive band that will be memorable and different, and can get the party started... I would use BRUSHFIRE STANKGRASS!
This band is amazing and wonderfully talented. The people in it are sweet, kind, and very professional.
It was a point of contention with my folks getting this band, who only I had ever seen in person. Everyone told me a DJ would play the hits, have everything right there... but let me tell you, these guys blew everyone away. I still have people asking me about my bands name and how to get in touch with them. My dad who was of course concerned with money but also a musician himself gave them the highest praise when he said, "worth every penny."
They can play anything. They are bluegrass based. There is a banjo and a stand up bass, but I've watched them switch to only guitars, switch to electric mid show. Whatever they need to do. They played classic love songs, some country, there was an r and b song towards the end (very sexy), Led Zepplin (per request), and the hit of the summer "Blurred Lines." When I first booked them they gave me a list of songs they already knew (very extensive) and told me to add any personal songs, things I needed for My Day. They came through with flying colors. There was even some last minute switching, and compromising (mothers.) so I kept them on their toes until the very end, but they came through in every aspect. Right after gaining a husband, Brushfire was the best feature of my wedding.
I cannot recommend them enough
Brushfire Stankgrass played our wedding ceremony and reception at Claxton Farm in Weaverville, NC. The band brought a great vibe to our event with their diverse rock/bluegrass/jam sound. They have great original material as well as fun covers in their catalogue. Live music was very important to our celebration and Brushfire fit the bill perfectly. Our first dance was extra special with Brushfire playing Phish's "Light" for us! Our friends and family had a great time listening and dancing to the music. Brushfire was professional and friendly. We couldn't have been more happy with our band choice!
Brushfire Stankgrass was absolutely amazing!! Myself and everyone at our wedding just loved it, from the ceremony instrumental music to the reception party! My husband and I could not have been happier with our decision to use them, and we even heard surprise songs we didn't know they knew. They impressed us with their timing, style, sense of humor and friendliness/ease of working with. We had to coordinate details long distance, as we planned a destination wedding in Asheville in September 2012. It was beautiful, and all our guests agreed it was well worth the travel!
No possible better band could have played our wedding. We had a blast with Brushfire Stankgrass!
They did a quiet and pretty acoustic set for our ceremony and then brought out the boogie bluegrass for the reception. They learned a few songs per our request and played them perfectly. They were easy to work with and went out of their way to make sure we were happy and everyone had an incredible experience. All the guys were fun to hangout and talk to and were a vital part of making our wedding a blast.
We heard from multiple people that it was the most fun they had at a wedding! It was so perfect, and we have the band to thank for a good portion of it :)
