Sayville Bridal

ations by a seamstress associated with/recommended by the boutique. The owner acknowledged her noticeable decline in work recently AFTER the seamstress ruined my brand new dress. only days left, I was panicked. The owner stepped in and arranged for me to wear a sample gown from the store and set me up with a new tailor for alterations. I appreciated that she tried to find a solution. But the gown I was given was used, visibly dirty & damaged, with stains and holes. It wasn’t the new dress I purchased. My wedding days away, I felt I had no real choice but to make it work, so I accepted the dress & moved on. I then spent $978 on emergency alterations, only for the replacement gown to still fit so poorly that the night before my wedding, my family & I were desperately trying to tape me into it so I wouldnt be exposed. the morning of my wedding, my hairstylist had to sew me in my dress to keep it in place. as you can imagine changed the way the back of the dress appeared but it was a sacrifice I made to be able to wear it bc it otherwise, did not fit. Instead of enjoying those once-in-a-lifetime moments with my family, I was crying & embarrassed about the dress. Trying to alter the dress before the ceremony delayed my timeline & I missed out on photos with my mom and the broken bow is in all my first dance photos, my bridesmaids didn’t notice until after that a button holding it in place had broke & we had to safety pin it on. What disappointed me almost as much as the experience itself is how the situation was handled after. I reached out hoping for a fair resolution, the owner emphasized everything she had done to help and described the sample gown as having been provided "at no additional charge." it wasn't a complimentary 2nd dress, but an emergency sub for the new gown I already paid for & could no longer wear.  Despite the difference in condition and value between what I purchased and what I ultimately wore, the owner declined any reimbursement or accommodation. What I find most troubling is, even after I explained everything that happened, the owner stood by how the situation was handled & declined to offer any compensation. Rather than acknowledging that the outcome was unacceptable, she focused on the efforts she had made to help. I never questioned those efforts. But I find it incredibly disappointing that a business owner could hear a bride spent the night before her wedding crying, had to be sewn into a damaged sample gown, and ultimately received something so different from what she purchased, yet still consider the matter resolved. To me, that reveals the values at Sayville Bridal. I never expected perfection & genuinely appreciated the efforts made in the moment. What I did expect was accountability & willingness to make things right when the outcome was so far from what I paid for. What makes me saddest is that I will never get that experience back. The night leading up to my wedding was spent crying & hopeless instead of excited about my dress. I hope brides considering this shop thinks carefully about not just how a business treats you when everything goes right, but how it stands behind you when something goes so wrong. I’d recommend a more established business whose reputation means more to them than allowing experiences such as this.
