very helpful! Overall a great experience working with them beforehand. For our wedding weekend the weather was calling for sunshine up until the day before, changed to rain/maybe an inch of snow, but then on the wedding day it ended up snowed 8 inches! The video team drove up in the snow and made it on time which was amazing. We had to move everyone inside a tent which made things feel a bit more claustrophobic. Unfortunately my husband and I felt like the video team felt intrusive at moments during the ceremony, which was no doubt partially caused by us being inside a small tent (2 of the 3 videographers were men above 6ft tall). If I could do it over again, I would have chosen the package with only one person because, for us personally, 3 people felt like way too many. Our wedding day was our first time meeting in-person, and I had requested via email to only have our photographer for the first look to help it feel more intimate. This information was clearly not communicated to the team because all 3 were standing there watching, only one taking video, the other 2 men just standing there which was uncomfortable. I had discussed with Scarlet Oak ahead of time that we don’t feel super comfortable in front of the cameras but I’m unsure if this information was passed along as well. Because of how intrusive the ceremony felt, I went up to one of the videographers before our first dance and asked them to stay far back during the dance, so my husband and I felt more comfortable. They respected this request and we were very happy with how our first dance felt. At the end of the night one guy pulled me off the dance floor wanting to get a final shot for the night. My husband had just gone upstairs in the hotel to use the bathroom, and he asked if we should chase him down. Gratefully my photographer stepped in and said, “I think the bride just wants to dance.” It felt like the desire to get a specific shot was impacting my experience of being in the moment and celebrating with my friends and family. Overall, I would recommend this company to anyone planning their wedding! I would just urge you to consider how you’d like the day to go and clearly communicate any boundaries you’d like to set with the team. For my husband and myself who don’t feel super comfortable in front of the camera or as the center of attention, there were moments that felt intrusive and too much. If we had known, we would have requested that they stay in the back of the ceremony to get footage the entire time and not pull us off the dance floor for any shots! I emailed the team with this feedback and they were incredibly respectful, thoughtful, and open to my feedback which I really appreciate. I believe if I had known to set more direct boundaries regarding behavior, they would have definitely been respected (but you don’t know what you don’t know!). The team of Scarlet Oak clearly care a lot about what they do, they are very passionate about capturing your day, and you will be getting great footage. They are very reliable and produced a beautiful video that we will cherish forever. Just take time with your partner to discuss how much you care about getting certain shots, and how you’d like your day to go to avoid any mismatch of expectations.

r! Our team was Amanda, Dalton, and Elli, and I loved having each one of them there to capture our day. Their energy and approach were exactly what we needed and what they delivered was beyond that and more. The way they shot during the actual day made us feel comfortable and calm. Their energy and professionalism was exceptional! I can’t say enough great things about this team. I would 1000% recommend hiring Scarlet Oak Studio for any event you want captured perfectly! 😊

wow the final edit of our video was incredible. He captured the day better than I could have imagined. He is sooo much fun and made the day incredible!!!!
