About this vendor
A repeat winner of the Toast of Nashville’s “Best Places to Get Married” and The Knot’s “Best of Weddings,” Scarritt Bennett Center’s historic campus is among the most picturesque wedding venues in Music City. Scarritt Bennett Center also consistently wins Wedding Wire's Couples' Choice Awards, including in 2018, 2019, 2020, and in 2021.
Scarritt Bennett Center has three wedding venue options on our historic campus:
(1) Wightman Chapel: Built in classic gothic cathedral style in 1928, Wightman Chapel is a historical and architectural treasure. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached in Wightman Chapel in April 1957. The Chapel was also featured in “Designed for Worship” (PBS) as one of the finest sacred places in Nashville. Built for acoustics, music soars through its Gothic arches from the organ, vocalists, and instrumental groups.
(2) Skinner Chapel: Scarritt Bennett Center is home to one of Nashville's finest elopement and microwedding venues, Skinner Chapel. You can build a custom ceremony or destination wedding in Skinner Chapel and make your special, intimate day just what you imagined. Lined with wood paneling and stained glass windows, this beautiful, historic chapel seats just 20 guests. That's enough room for you and your partner, your closest friends and family, and your officiant. But don't be fooled by the smaller size—these intimate ceremonies still teem with breathtaking beauty.
(3) The Labyrinth Garden: The Labyrinth Garden is our beautiful, round garden containing one of only two permanent outdoor prayer labyrinths in Nashville. An international peace pole stands in the garden’s west end, with “May Peace Prevail on Earth” written in seven languages. Cherry blossoms and dogwood trees burst with color in the spring, ripen to a vibrant summer green, then transform into a rich, multi-colored canopy in the fall. Our historic bell tower creates the perfect, breathtaking architectural backdrop for your garden ceremony, and the space easily converts to an open or tented reception after you say, “I do.”
Looking for a place to host your reception? Under the direction of Executive Chef Jennifer Threadgill, Scarritt Bennett Center offers exceptional catering options for wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, wedding brunches, and more. Menus can accommodate brunch, daytime, or evening events. Serving option include plated-and-served for seated meals, buffet for seated or mixed seated/standing, and passed hors d'oeuvres for standing. Orders from our formal catering menu in any of our indoor venue spaces come with the use of Scarritt Bennett Center's linens and serveware. Scarritt Bennett Center is an alcohol-free venue.
At Scarritt Bennett Center, pride ourselves on being an inclusive wedding venue. All couples are welcome here. We are honored you would consider making us part of your special day.

My daughter's recent wedding in Wightman Chapel was beautiful and the photo opportunities in the chapel & on the grounds are unmatched in the Nashville area. I will say communication with the wedding events staff was difficult at times, but the wedding day itself was everything she wanted it to be.
Where Scarritt-Bennett really shined for our event was during our reception! Kudos to Whitney Klein, Chef Joe Irwin, and their entire waitstaff! Every guest commented on the delicious food (many said it was the best they'd ever had at a wedding!) and the kind and impressive servers. Each server went out of their way to interact with our guests, and make sure everyone was taken care of and comfortable. They even pitched in to help us at the end of the night when we had to load up in the middle of a thunderstorm! They made a lasting impression and we will be forever grateful for them making it such a sweet & special night for our family & friends. Thanks Susie Gray Dining Hall staff! You are THE BEST!!
LOVED getting married at Wightman Chapel! It was so beautiful and such a wonderful space. I will forever cherish those memories and am so grateful I had my ceremony at Scarritt Bennett.
Wightman Chapel at Scarritt Bennett is the most magical place we could have gotten married! The day was stunning and beautiful and everything executed flawlessly. The weather was perfect, so we had the sun beaming through the stain glass for our 3pm ceremony.
Meg was such a rock in our wedding planning, as we booked the Chapel before the pandemic, and then chose to continue with our original date, but much smaller group.
On the day of, we were able to get into the bridal suite next door right on arrival, where we took photos and waited for the time to ultimately come.
We hired a pianist who used the one available in the chapel. They do not lie about the acoustics in there, I could hear our beautiful music while hiding waiting to walk down the aisle.
We also got lucky that the spring blooms happened our wedding weekend so all our photos on the grounds afterward are breathtaking.
I couldn't recommend this venue more. It's worth every penny and more! Thank you Meg!
Scarritt Bennett was the most perfect and stunning location for our wedding! My husband and I got married in Wightman Chapel in December, and we were blown away. The beautiful and tasteful Christmas decorations and the gorgeous organ made for the perfect winter wedding ceremony. My bridesmaids and I loved the getting ready bridal area, and groomsmen loved theirs. The ground surrounding the chapel are beautiful as well and make for gorgeous photos. If you are searching for a timeless and classic wedding venue, I cannot think of anywhere better! Plus, Meg and the SBC team were so accommodating and easy to work with!
Wightman Chapel is an absolutely stunning wedding venue. All of our guests raved about the beauty and the history of the chapel, and Meg was a dream to work with. She helped everything run smoothly during our rehearsal and the actual ceremony. We are so grateful!!
Having my wedding at the Wightman Chapel made all of my dreams come true! I had been dreaming of a classic, traditional wedding in a large church all of my life and my sister found this chapel and I immediately fell in love with it. Nicole went above and beyond and was so helpful & kind and was able to answer all of the questions I had since I was planning from afar (literally counted the pews for me!) The church had great acoustics and the organ was so beautiful as well. Huge thanks for making all of my royal wedding dreams come true!
STUNNING. Our ceremony was beautiful in this space. I cannot wait to see photos! Thanks for helping make it so special!!!
This church is absolutely beautiful and the staff was easy to work with. The strict times and rules are annoying, but it's worth it to have your ceremony here because of the rich history and beauty.
Having our wedding and reception at the Scarritt-Bennett was like a movie! There are several rules you have to follow getting married on a historical sight such as it, but I was willing to follow them all for that beautiful backdrop. We also had more invited than they normally host, but they happily accomodated our reception in a new area they had just sectioned off. While not everything went perfect, I wouldn't change my decision to have it here! I definitely suggest checking it out.
I cannot say enough great things about Scarritt Bennett. Not only does it make for a completely dreamy setting but its long aisle is perfect for making the most of your bridal walk. Minimal decorating needed (we only decorated the alter) because the church is that gorgeous. We also were able to take pictures the day after all over the grounds. Do note mics for the minister are not included and a $100 charge will be added if you choose to use the lapel mic. Also, rehearsal times are very strict and are exactly 1 hour the day before the event and at a set time (check with the Wedding Coordinator before booking). Incredible areas for pictures both inside and out!
I truly think this is the best place to get married in this city.
Two things:
1.) Be aware that if your wedding is in the evening, you cannot access the grounds until 3:30. We had to get creative with pictures because of this! :)
2.) You also only have 1 hour for your rehearsal, so make sure it's ready to execute before you go. Or have a kick-butt officiant.
My October wedding ceremony here was on a beautiful, fall day in 2014 and my photographer was overwhelmed with options. It photographs perfectly, and is the perfect mix of new and old Nashville.
Scarritt-Bennett Center is a beautiful venue to get married. Our ceremony and reception were both indoors, which helped when the weather man told us it was supposed to storm on our wedding day; I had no worries. Sally, the SB planner, is very quick to answer emails & calls. The food is very overpriced for what you receive, and you must get them to do the food. NO food is allowed to be brought onto campus, which jacks up the price. Overall, the place is great. Just be ready to spend A LOT of money, especially if your guest list is high.
Scarritt bennett absolutely made my dream wedding come true!!!! The staff was great and the chapel was truly magnificent!!!!!!!
BEAUTIFUL! A bride couldn't ask for more. The grounds are exquisite. The have a bride and groom room. Also, the allow the bride to have a free bridal portrait session on their grounds.
The staff was excellent. I was on crutches on my wedding day and they were able to provide a wheelchair for me to use.
My husband and I were married in Wightman Chapel at Scarritt-Bennett Center in April 2012 and it was completely breathtaking. The setting is regal, yet warm and you simply can't beat the historic architecture. The booking process, rehearsal, and actual ceremony ran seamlessly thanks to the great staff. I would recommend this venue for ANY couple, no matter their taste!
After working for a wedding photographer in high school, I basically did my venue shopping then. So I essentially got a behind the scenes look at multiple venues years ago! I still shopped around a little and visited some other vendors... But even after looking elsewhere, my heart was set on Scarritt. Sally, the events coordinator, is an absolute joy to work with. And the rest of the SBC staff were just as wonderful!
Scarritt is not a cheap venue by any means but definitely worth the splurge because the facility is so BEAUTIFUL You can spend less on other things.
The staff at Scarritt-Bennett were wonderful to work with. They are very strict on some of the rules and regulations on how they schedule and run things. However, one of my other vendors was being difficult to deal with and Sally was so patient and went out of her way to work with me to resolve the problem. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting for our wedding!
I had heard Scarritt-Bennett was hard to work with, but I had a great experience. I wish we could have had more time, but otherwise it was perfect. My pictures turned out GORGEOUS! I HIGHLY recommend this place.
The Wightman Chapel is gorgeous. It's everything I've ever wanted in a sanctuary. It is like a miniature cathedral. We loved that Scarritt is a religious center and not strictly one denomination or religion. I loved everything except the amount of time we were allowed. We were a bit rushed with the allotted four hours. The price is pretty high for the little amount of time you are allowed there. Other than that, everything is wonderful, classy and elegant.
They were on a very strict time schedule, but they definitely get you in and out! The site was so beautiful, we didn't need any decor.
I went to school across the street from the Wightman Chapel, so it was a no brainer for me when deciding where to hold the ceremony. It is simple, beautiful, and truly classic. Saturday evening spots go quickly, so if you're thinking that's when you'd like to get married, call them ASAP! They are very strict about timing and no outside food, but everything ran smoothly and easily.
The most beautiful place in Nashville to get married! You do not need hardly any decorations inside the church it is so ornate! The staff is fantastic there.
I loved having our wedding at Scarritt-Bennett Wightman Chapel. My bridal portraits were beautiful there...so many places on the grounds to take photos. I received so many compliments after the wedding about how beautiful the chapel was and how it was so classic and didn't need hardly any decor. The aisle is long, too. I do not have any negatives about the chapel except that it is a short time frame that you are allowed. Gorgeous!
