t) but neither of us felt comfortable ordering something that pricey online. We went to the same jeweler (a large chain that shall remain nameless) we had been using for years to get a quote and start the process of designing the ring. However, my husband quickly decided not to order the ring through them because they started trying to pressure him into a bigger diamond (we wanted ~0.75 carats, but they kept trying to sell him a diamond over a carat, one of which was 1.25 carats)as well as a diamond in a much higher grade than what we were looking for (SI1 or SI2, but they were insisting we really wanted a flawless diamond). When he asked to see a particular diamond before deciding on it, he was told they couldn't do that - we needed to purchase it first. He decided to go to the jeweler his brother and sister-in-law used for their engagement and wedding rings (Schmitt Jewelers) and was sold from the first encounter. They listened to everything he said about what we wanted and selected 3 diamonds that either matched our criterie or were as close to it as posible and had all 3 of them brought into the store for him to look at. He ended up selecting one of them, but they told him if none of those were acceptable, they could search for others. They also made the design process an easy and enjoyable process and the final product is absolutely gorgeous. Needless to say, we knew we would be going back to them for our wedding rings. I knew I wanted either a ring jacket or a ring shadow for my wedding band which would absolutely have to be custom made to fit around the heart-shaped diamond. They helped me choose a design that is both beautiful in itself as well as complementary to my engagement ring. The design process of my engagement ring took about a week from what my husband told me, but the design of my wedding ring took about 3 weeks because a piece of equipment they use in the design prcocess was broken for a week and then the shape of the ring didn't line up with my engagement ring. However, they redid the ring until it was perfectly aligned with my engagement ring for no additional charge. My husband's ring was much simpler and only needed to be sized which was done the day after he picked it out. We were extremely pleased with Schmitt Jewelrs and will continue to use them in the future for any jewelry needs.
