I lost an earing that was given to me by my grandmother. The pair are over 100 years old. I was devastated, until I met Julie. Her crew created an exact duplicate, with outstanding workmanship. The earings are a pair now, and I am very thankful.

I first met Julie through my wife Bianca a few years ago. I knew I was going to propose to Bianca and started spending some more time with Alex, Julie's husband. I got to know Julie and her business and knew right away we were going to create a custom wedding ring for Bianca. I inherited my grandma's wedding ring 10-1/4 carats, when she passed away as I was the only grandson that was not married. I knew I wanted to use that ring for my wife and Bianca was the girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I went to the mall with Bianca several times to see what she liked. I was texting Julie the entire time as I learned Bianca wanted a geometrical Brilliant Cut ring with rose gold and platinum bands. I brought my sketch to Julie, and Julie took it to the next level. In less than a month, Julie produced CAD drawings of the initial ring design. We sat down and made a couple tweaks and then Julie produced a mold which helped the whole process tremendously. I learned a lot throughout the process and I was completely floored when I saw the ring. From beginning to end, I was so impressed by Julie and her team of professionals that produced this unique and handcrafted ring. A precision cut is hard to do, and the workmen in Julie's shop are incredibly talented. The final ring features 133 small stones and I was so impressed with the amount of detail and time the team put into it. Julie was helpful, professional and delivered on time. My husband was blown away by the attention to detail and craftsmanship that he said is only obvious after looking at many rings in person. Julie was wonderful to collaborate with my husband to create a design unique to us. As the recipient of this glorious work of art, I have to say it is absolutely PERFECT and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Everyone that has seen my Wife's engagement ring told me "good job!" Julie's design process is very open and she will not move along without making sure your vision is achieved. Julie is a hardworking and talented artist who helped me create an engagement ring that my fiancé and I will cherish forever. The ring shines so wonderfully for two reasons- 1) beautiful diamonds (that were handpicked by Julie and all within my budget) 2) a gorgeous setting that allows the diamonds to interact with light. Of note, the setting is based off a classic art-deco design, but Julie’s interpretation is the best I have seen (Grace tapered baguette). Julie helped make this experience almost completely stress free- something that I have heard from friends and family is hard to come by! I had admired Julie's artwork (in the form of jewelry) for a long time and so when it came time for us to purchase a wedding band I knew Wanted it to come from Scout Mandolin. Julie listened and advised and came up with the perfect band for me. She focuses on creating personalized pieces with the highest quality diamonds. I am in love with my ring. I wanted a simple diamond infinity band style ring which isn't a tall order for Julie as she designs intricate detailed pieces but she took my small request seriously and made the ring personal to me placing the diamonds just as I had pictured. Julie and her team at Scout Mandolin are nothing short of amazing (something I never fail to tell anyone who will listen). I get a lot of compliments on my ring and I immediately mention Julie because I feel like I’m wearing a commissioned piece of art on my hand and not just a ring. I’m going to be honest, I'm not a girl that fantasized about my ideal engagement ring. In fact, I dreaded the idea of “shopping around” because I only knew what I didn’t want, as opposed to what I did want. I also knew close to nothing about diamonds. When my fiancé and I got engaged, he proposed without a ring because he wanted me to have exactly what I wanted (which would have been great if I knew that that was!). I started shopping around and become so overwhelmed with all the options it quickly went from a fun task to a stressful burden. So when I randomly fell in love with an estate ring that was unavailable, I found myself defeated and lost. It was suggested we get a replica of the estate ring made, but I was hesitant because I have witnessed friends have utterly disappointing experiences trying to replicate rings and the end product is less than ideal. With some hesitation, we approached Julie with a picture of the ring and she immediately said, "We can absolutely do this!" Even though we were getting the a ring replicated as opposed to designing from scratch, she still met with me to talk about the ring, brought me incredible diamonds to pick from while educating me on the different aspects of each stone. She made me feel completely at ease and validated when I would get overwhelmed with the “4 Cs”. Most importantly, and something I truly cherish in my ring, is the personalized changes she made from the original ring. The original ring had small details I did not like and I casually mentioned it to Julie when we met. Julie's eyes got big and she enthusiastically said "Well then, let's change it!" She used her outstanding design ability to take a very vague suggestion from my fiancé and completely personalize the gallery of my ring. She was also very patient and never made me feel ridiculous with the many minor changes I requested during the design process.  I also love that I have diamonds in my ring that were made in San Francisco by the Diamond Foundry, cutting out the human and environmental costs that diamond mining causes around the world. Who knew you could “go local” with diamonds!?! I truly cannot recommend Scout Mandolin enough, without them there's no way I would have this beautiful piece of personalized art on my hand, or have enjoyed the process of it all.

Working with Julie to customize my wedding band was exhilarating and so much fun! My engagement ring is round and I needed to have my wedding band customized to fit just right. My new last name is Oranges and thus Julie had the idea of creating a wedding band that incorporated orange blossoms and leaves. It was something unexpected and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. She took her time with me and sent me designs prior to creating the band. I knew exactly what the ring was going to look like and it turned out better than I imagined.
