I was a very non-traditional bride, we didn't get ready in matching silk robes in a hotel - we got ready at my house and drank a bottle of champagne, but I ultimately wanted the same kind of photojournalist style to our wedding day. We interviewed two other photographers, but ultimately there was no question about who I really wanted. The day of Joanna and Kim saved me from a thousand tiny spiders in a tree, fixed my hair, cracked jokes, fluffed my dress, carried my bouquet. I was DEAD TIRED and losing my ability to go through the motions, but the girls made it fun. They also paid very close attention to the kind of stuff that I liked. They knew I didn't want to be put in front the stadium, like the typical St. Louis couple for whom that has great meaning, and being connected to that, they found some really cool "hidden" spots in, well, the gutters of the city because they knew my husband and I would want a more urban setting. When we received the photos, I cried my eyes out. They were everything I had hoped for and more. Very few posed shots (if that is your thing, they will happily do it) and lots of captured moments of people that we love laughing and smiling and in one case, of a person who meant so much to me and passed away shortly thereafter. The price is 100% comparable to everyone else you are likely to interview in your range. Save the time - go with them. I will hire Serendipity again and again for family portraits, maternity, you name it. We love them and we know you will, too.

hen she suggested all these amazing ideas! I am not someone who loves having my photo taken, and yet she made every moment feel comfortable and natural. When I received my photos, I was blown away. She went above and beyond. Every picture was more beautiful and special than the next! Such an amazing photographer and I look forward to using her in the future!

She is very laid back, energetic, but organized and prepared. Not only did she do an amazing job capturing the highlights of our day, but she also stayed on top of our vendors at the reception making sure everything went smoothly. She is very passionate about photography and that is all we could have asked for. She genuinely loves her job, and it definitely shows through in her work. perfect balance between someone we felt totally comfortable around and someone we didn't even notice (no offense, Mel:). But let me tell you...she was there alright, capturing incredible moments throughout the entire day! We absolutely love ALL of our photos (which she got back to us very quickly). It's been over a year and we are still getting compliments on our wedding photos! Talented, dependable, professional... Amazing :)

ng. We met with her ahead of time and discussed what we were looking for in terms of style and kinds of images, and then she did her magic! She was a very calm, unobtrusive presence on the day of our wedding, recording all of the craziness and excitement for us. Mel was also very helpful in making sure I didn't freak out about our tight schedule ("don't worry, we have plenty of time"). We made it through all of the posed pictures we wanted, and had plenty of time to shoot at the Botanical Gardens, too. Thank goodness, because the candid shots from the gardens are our favorites. Mel has a great sense of humor, which really helped to keep us calm and relaxed for the photos. We are so excited with how everything turned out-- and Mel was kind enough to send us full-sized images via disk and the internet, so we can make prints from home (though we will be buying a few professional prints as well :)). Highly, highly recommended!

over the years, and her creativity continues to amaze me. She's done countless photo shoots for our family, so it was a no-brainer when it came time for me to choose a wedding photographer. Let's just say it didn't disappoint. My husband and I had a very simple affair. 30 invited guests, one attendant on each side, and a little luncheon afterward in which we toasted to life and success with iced tea and sparkling grape juice (I was 6 months pregnant, by the way). Mel did an awesome job capturing the event in the right light. It came across classy, elegant, yet laidback. Just the way the day flowed. None of the photos felt staged, stuffy or inaccurate. The day was just perfect for my husband and I, and the pictures helped make it that way :-) You will do your event a great justice by hiring Mel. So much to worry about- with Serendipity, however, take one item off your wedding day worry list!
