I cannot express how grateful I am for Mary Rita. I waited over 6 months for my dress to come in, and it came in completely wrong (3 weeks before the wedding.) Mary Rita got me in immediately and completely redesigned the dress as it should have been. She knew exactly what she was doing and was very helpful in decisions to make me look my best on my big day. Not only did she take care of me, but she allowed my whole family (10+ women each time) to come into her home and see the dress with me, EACH TIME I HAD A FITTING! She also altered 4-5 people’s dresses who were in my wedding and got everything done in such a quick time. I cannot rave more about her!! She is wonderful and ALL BRIDES should use Mary Rita. Wow I wish I had the words to describe how incredible Mary Rita is. She was my guardian Angel for my wedding dress. Not only did she see me in an absolute panic over a designer mistake on my dress, but she assured me it was all something that could be fixed. I had gone to a few seamstresses before who turned me away due to the complexity and nature of my dress (it is fully beaded) but Mary Rita was not concerned at all about the fabric and assured me it would be an easy fix for her. I am in the military and not home very often, but she told me she would complete it in whatever time frame I had, and she altered my dress over the course of 2 weeks, JUST 2 WEEKS!! She is incredible, she makes you feel like family and I feel so blessed to have had her as my seamstress. She even added a little something blue on the inside as a surprise. I seriously cannot thank her enough for the wonderful woman she is and the incredible job she did, she truly takes the extra steps to make your dress as perfect as possible.

Maryrita went upbove and beyond on my dress! I bought this dress off the rack in Arizona and had it altered by MaryRita she added pieces to the back of my dress and also on the side. She also added sleeves that I bought separately.. she is the BEST! I recommend her to anyone!!

One word, LIFESAVER! My wedding dress experience was a nightmare throughout the waiting process for it to be delivered. I received my wedding gown 4 days prior to my wedding. Mary Rita not only took me in as a bride but altered and perfected my dress in 2 days, TWO days! She even added a “something blue” to my gown for happy luck.. she went as far as creating another one for one of my bridesmaids getting married next month. Mary Rita treats you as family, she’s your one stop shop for not only bridal gowns but ANY thing you need!

Mary Rita was THE BEST. I can not stress enough how amazing her work is. It’s like she can talk to your dress and find out what needs to be done to make it even more beautiful. She was recommended to me by a friend who had gone to her for bridesmaid dresses before, and as soon as I texted Mary Rita a picture of my dress she said “I know what you need”. Our first appointment was so easy. I had no idea what it took to change a dress or where to start with my wedding dress and she walked me through the entire process, gave me so many options (all of them great ideas btw) and let me decide what I felt comfortable with. We had a total of four fittings, and each one left me amazed with all the work that had been done on my dress. She was so easy to communicate with through text if we needed to change an appointment day or time and with updates. She is punctual, kind and so much fun to work with. For my final fitting she even had me try on a veil (I had chosen not to wear one) just to make sure I got the full effect of different accessories. She explain how the bustle worked and even added the sweetest little details to my dress to make the day so much more special. Will recommend over and over and over to anyone who ever asks.

Mary Rita was amazing! She squeezed me in within 2 months of my wedding date…we planned everything very last minute but it turned out absolutely perfect! Choosing Mary Rita to alter my dream wedding dress was one of the best decisions I made during my wedding planning process. She is so thorough in her craft and it really showed the day of my wedding where my dress fit like a glove. She made me feel so comfortable and every single appointment we had together felt like I was catching up with an old friend. I couldn’t be happier with my dress😍😍 I originally got a dress that had a very deep v neck line with my back showing and thin straps and it was tight. It was not a dress safe for a modest wedding but I just loved how it looked on me and still bought it. I took it to Mary on short notice and she managed to turn it into a beautiful modest dress for me (and even gave me wiggle room) that made it look like it was originally tailored that way. Everything looked perfect and she turned my wedding dress into a one of a kind dress for such a reasonable cost. She even made beautiful undershirts for my bridesmaids dresses. Mary is absolutely fantastic!!! She took my dress and made it even more beautiful!! I had bought an outlet dress that didn’t fit just right and she added a whole back piece and added to parts I was uncomfortable with! I have a very odd shaped body with a big bust small waist and short torso. She made it fit perfect and made me feel beautiful! Hands down the best in the business. She even let us use a special mink coat for my big day. We love her and will definitely be back for formal occasions!

Mary really was the sweetest and very professional. I had several appointments with her for my wedding dress. She worked around my schedule and was very flexible! My wedding dress came out amazing :) She added sleeves that I had bought separately! Looked as if they had came with the dress after she applied them onto the dress. The bustle came out so nice! And she explained it very well to my bridesmaids on one of the last appointments. The day of the wedding the bustle was simple for my girls to put together. :)

Mary Rita is the sweetest and a very talented seamstress. Not only did she do an amazing job on my dress, she was very accommodating, able to get it done in a pinch, and very thoughtful. She turned an off the rack, formless dress, into my dream dress. She also added beautiful lace and beading on the sleeves and back that looked as though the dress came that way all along. Where did I even begin? Mary was amazing. I have a small bust and a big rib cage so fitting me is always difficult and I always end up with the bust being way too big and even with alterations looking the same way. Not with Mary, she somehow she made me dress fit every part of my body and fit like a glove. The bussel she did for my wedding dress was one of a kind as well. Not the normal just tack up busels. She made her own for my dress and was so pretty. She was kind, sweet, funny, personable, flexible and so caring. My dress was altered perfectly and enjoyed my experience with her and will only use her for all my alterations needs in the future. If I could give her 10 stars I would!! When I even asked around and on fb before I found Mary. All my friends recommended her with rave reviews. She is the best in town!! I wish I could post a picture of the amazing job she did, but she has many for you too look at as well!!

MARY IS THE BEST ALTERATIONS/TAILOR/SEAMSTRESS IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY!! I reached out to Mary in February 2020, my wedding was supposed to take place in June 13, 2020 but the date had to be pushed back twice due to COVID-19 and the gathering restrictions. Throughout the process, Mary has been extremely supportive and patient with me. I ordered a Vera Wang wedding gown on an online sale through Davids Bridal, the dress was an ivory one-shoulder a-line with a back keyhole design in a size 8, my regular dress size, and it didn't fit me at all. Mary put on a back corset for me and when I was finally able to see how it looked on me, I didn't love it. Also, my mom had never like the dress thinking it was too simple. For my first fitting I took my mother and sister-in-law with me and I could tell they didn't love it or how it looked on me so I started to doubt myself and whether I made the right decision. Mary looked for different fabrics and materials that would add bling and flair to my dress. She could tell I was having doubts and recommended I visit a bridal salon and formally try on dresses. I managed to book an appointment with What's Up Europe that same Saturday morning and found the perfect dress (off the rack) for me. Even the employee of another salon in Visalia was extremely impressed that Mary was able to put in a corset to my original dress. Mary handed me my original dress neatly out together in a garment bag packaged with with the scraps of fabric she used. I cannot express greater words about Mary and her work. Mary genuinely connects with the brides she works with and does everything she can to make their wedding as special as it can be. No matter what project big or small, reach out to Mary, she is amazing!

Mary Rita was amazing and took the several changes to my wedding date, location, and size like it was nothing ! Mary saved my wedding!!! I had bought my wedding dress a year and a half before my wedding date, but then Covid happened and it never shipped. So I bought a 99 dollar dress online and took it to Mary to alter. She took one look at the dress and said oh honey no, you can't wear this dress on your wedding day. So she called the Owner of the shop i bought my dress from and got me all set up for an apt the next day to get me a new wedding dress in place of my original. She had my new dress all done in time for my wedding that was just a two weekends away. The whole experience was delightful and heart warming. I was very hesitant in finding someone to alter my wedding dress for me. I found Mary Rita and I am 100% glad I did. Each time I went in for my dress fitting from day one she was absolutely amazing. She made my experience so much better. I’m sure she has many clients and many dresses to alter but she actually remembers your story and the things you have planned. I love Mary Rita. She’s professional but her personality makes you feel like you’ve known her forever. I had some issues with my dress to tight and not closing after having it put away for a while. But she helped me stay calm and not stress. She assured me everything had a solution! And she could fix it. Fortunately i was able to drop some pounds and it fit perfectly she even took the waist in! Mary Rita saved my wedding dress with just one day. My dress came in a week before my wedding and was altered right when it came in by someone else. When I went to try it on, they told me it looked great and there was nothing else they could do for the bodice of the dress. Totally upset, I went to try and find a bra or other undergarment that would make my body fit the dress. Mary Rita found out what was going on the afternoon before my wedding. She completely fixed the bodice and also altered the bra to fit me and the dress... in less than 24 hours. I owe all my beautiful pictures and how great I felt that day to her. Throughout the process she did everything to make me comfortable and calm and that she would handle it. She went above and beyond for me and that is just the amazing person that she is. I know that she gives that same treatment to everyone who walks through her door.

Mary Rita was awesome to work with. My dress fit perfectly when I tried it on in the store, but the dress that I received fit nothing like the one I had fallen in love with. Mary fixed the bodice so that it fit perfectly and made it work with a bra that I already owned. She also hemmed the dress so that it would work with my mountain wedding location. She was very professional and gave me several options for how I could alter the hemline. She was very good at figuring out exactly what I wanted and then she made it happen. I sew as a hobby and her work is great! In the end, my dress fits like it was made for me and looks even better than I had hoped. Mary got the dress done in under a week so that it would be done in time for my wedding. I felt very lucky that she was able to do it so quickly and with such fine quality. I cannot speak any more highly of Mary Rita; she is absolutely amazing! I went in as a bride from Enchanted Boutique with a just a few weeks shy of my wedding. I was grateful she was able to take me in considering how many other bridal gowns she was working on. As a 4’11” petite woman who ordered a gown two sizes up and made for tall brides, Mary Rita fixed my dress to fit me like a glove. It accentuated my body and hugged all areas I requested to be hugged just perfectly. I received so many compliments at my wedding. I must add, that just a few days before the wedding, I asked for a last minute plunge to be CUT that I ended up not liking, and Mary Rita used her magic to reverse the change in just one day! I had ordered my gown at Bella Couture at Thousand Oaks and was extremely excited to pick it up after 8 months of wait, it was beautiful but seemed somewhat plain without much detail, not how I had a imagined from the beginning of choosing it as it was being put together as a customized dress, and designer brand. I took it as is but somewhat not happy with what I wanted to wear as my wedding gown. I looked on the knot and was so lucky to have found Mary Rita. The very moment I met Mary Rita I felt so welcomed and comfortable and at ease that I had found the right person to trust fully on my wedding gown.. She is the ultimate fairy god mother of gowns. Immediately she started with my vision on my gown and created every details and made my gown one of the most stunning gown and became the new designer, the beautiful lace sewn on by hand and beautiful removable sleeves I had on my gown that I wore for the catholic ceremony, I had to leave them on longer for the reception because they were so beautiful with fine lace on the mesh, Mary Rita did more and beyond on making my dream gown. My moment came back. Tears came out of happiness as soon as I wore it the day of my wedding. So many compliments on my dress. After buying my wedding dress I lost so many inches that my dress was just not fitting as good as when I bought. I needed alterations and was very nervous to trust someone with something that meant so much to me. Thankfully I found Mary and let me just tell you she did such an amazing job with my alterations that my dress fit absolutely amazing!! She even use some of the lace that had to be removed from my dress and added it to my veil and oh my what a difference did it make. I know it’s a little scary to trust someone with something so important to us as our wedding dress but let me tell you Mary knows exactly what she’s doing she has so many years of experience and is absolutely amazing at what she does. Mary-Rita was beyond amazing to work with. She made room for me in her very busy schedule and every time I saw her she was calm and happy as a clam. (like she didn’t have 37 dresses to finish in a week!) She went above and beyond to help turn my discounted dress into my dream dress! She sewed extra material inside so it wasn’t see through (after David’s Bridal SWORE they had a slip that matches my dress shape..) she had an amazing idea to open up the side slip and do it on both sides when I mentioned top priority was to look SO GOOD all while being able to “get down” and dance all night. This woman is a saint and a godsend thank you for everything you did to make my special day that much more magical!!

I am so happy that I chose Mary Rita to alter my wedding gown! Mary Rita is so kind and warm, and I felt comfortable during my fittings! I never felt rushed and always felt like a bride! She put in so much time making sure that my dress was absolutely perfect for me! We added gorgeous lace straps to my gown and she sewed in the perfect bra so that I would be comfortable on my wedding day! Mary Rita was wonderful throughout our 4 month alteration process. She is very personable and wonderful to work with. She will have your dress fitting like a glove. I had unintentionally lost weight and my dress had to be taken in significantly. With all of the intricate lace I was nervous but she pacified all of my fears. My dress looked perfect and I felt absolutely stunning. I would recommend Mary Rita to anyone needing wedding dress or formal gown alterations.

Mary Rita is very nice lady and her suggestion of adding covered buttons to my dress was spot on. Unfortunately, I cannot say I was happy with the final product. My dress was still being worked on when I arrived for my final fitting. Another lady stitched the bra into the dress while I had it on. Admittedly, I wasn't paying close attention to her work because the person who had offered to drive us to the airport (2 hours away) kept texting me asking if I was finished yet. Some additional work was done on the waist and it was packed into the suitcase. Looking back, I should have brought someone with me to really inspect the dress and the work that was being done as I was just too stressed to focus. When I pulled the dress out again at our venue, a piece of lace was loose on the back of the dress and the bra band kept showing no matter how low we pulled, hooked and zippered the dress. My sister in law was able to sew on the lace, but I wish we had just torn the bra out completely. I opted to leave it unhooked which gave me a bit of support but caused a slight bulge in the pictures because of the loose band. If the alterations on my dress had been completed before I arrived, we could have focused on any needed tweaks to the finished product instead of getting it done as quickly as possible so I could make my ride to the airport.

Mary Rita was our fairy godmother. My DIL had her dress and and since I sew, we thought I would be able to handle the hem. We never thought about a bustle! We learned of Mary Rita and she was willing to work with our tight schedule. She did things to that dress that we didn't even know needed to be done! She was very flexible with her schedule, and made time for me to go in the evenings. My dress required several alterations, and Mary Rita was very focused on every detail and concern. I bought my dress in Reno but live in Ridgecrest. I had no idea where I would get alterations done until I found Mary Rita! My dress was very difficult to work with as it was a gauzy/lace gown that was sheer, draped over a white silk slip. Oh yea, it also had a really low back. Mary Rita was able to sew a bra into the front which made the gown so comfortable I felt like I was wearing a beautiful night gown on my wedding day! For the bustle she was able to hide the hooks & eyes to exactly the lacy pattern so none of it shows when down. She's a fun lady to talk with, easy to schedule appointments and definitely knows what she's doing! Even if you don't live in Bakersfield, it's worth the drive to Mary Rita's if you want it done right:)

Mary was wonderful through the entire process. She listened to my needs and gave me suggestions. My dress had a lot of lace and beading, but she worked through it perfectly and was able to alter my dress perfectly. She even managed to help create curves in the back that I don't have. Miracle work. See changed my straps so they wouldn't be sliding off all night while I was dancing and added beading that had fallen off. Because it had a long lace train, she put buttons and ties in to bustle it up for after the ceremony. I strongly recommend her.
