Marilyn was very personable, efficient, and thorough. She did an amazing job altering wedding dress! The bustle that she did was gorgeous! She even made sure we took a video of her while she showed us how to bustle my dress, so we knew exactly what to do on the day of the wedding. She also altered some of my bridesmaids' dresses and every dress turned out perfect!

Marilyn was so sweet and had excellent communication. I felt her price was fair for what she had to do with my dress with a quick turnaround. Highly recommend Marilyn for all alterations.

Marilyn provided alterations for my daughter’s wedding dress. Her workmanship and fitting skills are superb. The scope of work included the hem, bodice and illusion neckline. The hem was raised about 6” and required removal of all the bottom appliqués. The train lace was quite detailed and went all the way up to a point at back hip line. Marilyn is a joy to work with and I highly recommend her boutique for all wedding and formal wear.

My husband needed a suit altered for an upcoming wedding. Marilyn made an appointment promptly, we were very satisfied with her knowledge and professional attitude. The quality of the sewing was outstanding and the garments were ready for pick up as promised.

I needed a last minute hem and Marilyn fit me in and turned it around in less than 24hrs! She’s extremely friendly, professional, and can’t beat her prices!

I had originally posted in a Clermont/Minneola/Groveland Facebook group asking for recommendations on a seamstress that could alter a wedding dress and 80% of the comments recommended Marilyn and I’m so glad I listened. Working with Marilyn was so much fun! She did the alterations for both of my daughters wedding dresses, the maid of honors, the mother of bride and for about 5 other women in the wedding. We loved going together and making this daunting task something enjoyable. Marilyn is so skilled and had great suggestions on how to make our dresses look the best. The wedding dresses were not easy either and Marilyn’s talent was evident that special day.

I wanted to share my experience with this seamstress, so others do not have to go through the same issues we experienced. My two wedding dresses and over skirt were entrusted to Marilyn and staff to be altered. The first dress was to be slightly taken in at the waist, and all three pieces were to be hemmed and bustled. When I dropped them off, we set a date to have the alterations completed for pick up. A few days before that appointment, she messaged me to change that date that we had agreed upon weeks before. My mom and I met at the shop to pick up my gowns only to find that they were incomplete. We were then asked to give Marilyn an additonal hour to complete it or come back another day. We decided to wait the hour. When we returned, she still had not completed the alterations we had paid for and finished them while I was wearing the dress. Both dresses were also given back to me a complete wrinkled mess. I would think with the cost involved, a professional seamstress would give it back steamed and presentable. She said that would be an additional charge and that I would, again, have to leave my dress and return at a later date. I took my dress home and steamed it myself. About 2 weeks before the wedding I tried my dress on again. Only to find that it still had a row of pins and another layer that had not been hemmed. So when I left it for that additional hour to be finished, she rushed through it and missed a complete section of alterations. I mesaged Marilyn photos to immediately make her aware of the situation. She wanted me to bring the dress in, yet again, so that she could fix it. At this point I definitely did not feel comfortable returning my dress to her. We found another seamstress to finish the job at an additional charge, and I requested a refund. Marilyn expressed at that time that she would take care of it. After three weeks passed and I had not heard anything, I reached out again (aftet my wedding date had passed). She is now stating that there was an open balance when I picked my dress up, but did not mention it either time we were there that day. And she feels that the remaining balance she has now waived is more than enough compensation for my multiple trips to her store and unfinished work. Our experience working with Marilyn has been completely unorganized and unprofessional, and I would not recommend this business to anyone.

Marilyn saved my wedding day! I purchased my dress before I lost weight and when it arrived I was afraid there wouldn’t be enough time to alter it. Other places I called couldn’t have it ready for up to 2 months and I only had 2.5 weeks. I called Sewing by Marilyn and she was so friendly and sweet and said she could have it done on time. Marilyn came through with a few days to spare! She is such a professional and I absolutely love my dress…I truly felt like a princess!!! And everyone loved my dress. If you need anything altered choosing Sewing by Marilyn is a must!

I was a bridesmaid in May 2021 for a rescheduled wedding and had not tried on my bridesmaid dress since I purchased it in January of 2020. Well, I needed my dress altered for the May 2021 wedding because I was pregnant and expecting my first child! I contacted Marilyn and she was able to meet with me and I was hopeful she could alter the dress to fit my growing stomach. She was kind and professional, and gave me confidence that the dress could still be used for the wedding. We met several times for alterations and the end result was excellent! The dress alterations turned out great and I received several compliments on the way the dress fit me. Marilyn did a wonderful job and I would recommend her for alterations.

Marilyn is so sweet and did such an amazing job on my wedding dress! I would much rather support a small business instead of a box store. She did the hem on my dress which had a very intricate design, shortened the shoulder straps and added a bustle. The dress was perfect!! I highly recommend her for all your tailor needs!

I am so thankful that I found Marilyn. I found her business per a local FaceBook group where members recommended her for wedding alterations. I sent a message via her website and shortly after she contacted me to schedule my first appointment. First off, Marilyn is extremely friendly the second you meet her. She has a warm welcoming personality and makes sure her clients feel comfortable. My initial appointment I brought in both my reception & ceremony dress to get quotes on the work that needed to be done. I was excited to find out that Marilyn even makes custom veils for a reasonable price. Marilyn ended up altering both of my dresses and making me a custom veil. The veil was stunning and everything I could’ve asked for. Both of my dresses fit me perfectly after the alterations were completed. Marilyn was even able to give me a bit more breathing room in my dress, after some weight gain. I always felt she was understanding and truly there for me in the process. Not only did Marilyn help me, but she also altered my husband’s pants for the wedding and my mother n law’s dress. I also hired Marilyn to steam my dresses and my bridesmaid dresses. The girls were so thrilled about this and it looked great. I am so thankful I found Marilyn. Her prices are reasonable, she’s extremely professional/friendly, and her work is truly amazing.

If you’re a nervous bride looking for the right seamstress look no more! My gown was two sizes too big on me and she knew I was nervous about getting the whole alteration process started. Marilyn is amazing at what she does. She is super sweet, extremely professional, easy to reach and flexible with your time and schedule. She had the torso altered to fit, hemmed and added a bustle. The dress fits perfectly and even though I was not in a rush to have it done her turn around time was less than 2 weeks for every request. I am sending my bridesmaid and all future alterations to Marilyn!

Marilyn is so kind and very responsive in email and text! My dress alterations were perfect, so fast and so inexpensive for what I needed done! She also made me custom tablecloths which stole the show at the reception for sure! The only reason she didn’t get the full five stars is because we had a bunch of last-minute reschedules to pick things up and the alterations she did on my fiancé’s dress shirt fell apart on the day and he had a hole in the wrist (which you couldn’t see on the day under the suit so it wasn’t a terrible issue but we will get it fixed so he can wear the shirt again!). I would definitely, definitely use her again.

Marilyn was absolutely amazing! I hired her to hem my very heavy wedding dress as well as add a bustle to the back. She did amazing!! She is always very communicative and took what seemed like no time at all to do the job. She’s also very personable. I highly recommend her for any alterations!

Marilyn had been highly recommended by many people on a local FB group, so we took my daughter’s wedding dress to her for alterations. I am so glad we did! She did an amazing job! She also helped me create an embroidered piece to put in my daughter’s dress from my wedding dress, an embroidered handkerchief, and I had her insert a zipper in my MOB dress. Her work was quick, reasonably priced, and impeccable!

Sewing by Marilyn did an amazing job on perfecting my wedding dress which was about 2 sizes too big. She was able to take it in at all the right places and keep the beading as if nothing had changed. She was very easy to communicate with and quick in her return of the dress. About a 2 week turn around period so it was nice knowing I had plenty of time between the wedding and the final fitting to see where my weight would be and get the fitting just right. Her prices were also unbeatable after shopping around the Orlando area! Would highly recommend to future brides and anyone looking to get something altered :)

As the mother of the bride, I was looking for the “best “seamstress for my daughter and her wedding party. I found her! All of us could not have been more pleased, including the groom and groomsmen!
