So many guests commented on the bar staff remembering their drink order, and bringing such a bright energy to the day, which is beyond anything a bride could ask for. Beyond this, the venue is beautiful. The grassy area was perfect for our ceremony location and the chairs were seamlessly transferred to their barn for the reception, where the lighting, furniture, and draping offered by Michelle and the Grunch team looked beyond stunning. I cannot recommend this venue enough, thank you Michelle and all the Shanahan people!

e until June 2022 and we never felt any pressure to not postpone from the Shanahan’s team. On the day of our wedding the bar never had a line because Michelle’s team is so efficient. People raved about how kind and fun the staff were. Michelle and Keith were with us throughout our whole weekend making us feel special whether we were golfing or a getting out the pre-ceremony jitters. Everyone also raves about how nice the restrooms were! We chose to have our rehearsal dinner at Shanahan’s pub which was also managed by Michelle and Keith’s team and that was amazing too. No one’s glasses were ever empty and the food was great too! We toured several venues throughout Northern Michigan and while I’m sure they’re all great, the attention to detail, the communication, and the team that Michelle and Keith have created make all the difference and I will sing their praises forever. Here are the things that originally made us choose Shanahan’s Barn: - it’s large so we knew we wouldn’t feel cramped no matter how many people could make it - we would be the only couple there that day. We wouldn’t hear another party down the hall. - we had the freedom to choose our vendors with suggestions from Michelle. - there are SO many beautiful spots for pictures, down by the water, in the beautiful landscaping at the golf course or with the barn in the background. - I wasn’t at all worried about if it rained on our day because there was a PERFECT backup location inside the barn a beautiful ceremony, but the outside ceremony space is perfectly manicured too. - it has a rustic feel but it’s beautifully restored and renovated with heaters and other tricks to protect you from the elements, if needed. -once your guests arrive, they don’t have to leave until the party is over! -there are a lot of hotels nearby, so no long shuttle back to a hotel 30+ minutes away - we met with Michelle and immediately trusted her and felt comfortable with her! I cannot recommend Shanahan’s Barn enough, take it from me, a bride who planned her wedding three times but never thought twice about the venue we picked!

The venue itself if stunning and has several options for pictures on site. The inside is gorgeous with the lighting & drapes, making the rustic barn absolutely magical. Thankfully weather cooperated during cocktail hour and our guests were able to enjoy the outdoor “patio” space for drinks/apps while we took photos. It is incredibly spacious - especially accommodating during “COVID times” to allow to spread out if they wanted to. The bar staff was efficient & our guests enjoyed drinks all night… a bonus not having to worry managing the bar ourselves. Again, I cannot thank Michelle and her crew for making our wedding day absolutely amazing.

Shanahan's - they were steps ahead of us through the whole planning process and the day of the wedding, all the vendors were spot on. We ended up with a rainy day and had planned the ceremony outside, it was moved inside, upstairs and couldn't have been more lovely. We would have planned the ceremony indoors from the start if we knew the barn would look so amazing - an 'intimate feeling' for 250 people - just lovely! Hosting any party at Shanahan's would be an excellent time! Michelle and her staff went above and beyond with every detail; they were all very accommodating. Our wedding was in September and we're still receiving wonderful comments - a very good time was had by all who attended.

Besides being stunning, the barn gave us amazing photos, enough room for all of our guests and provided an inside and outside ceremony option. That was very beneficial for us because it was down pouring the day of the wedding (I hope it was good luck)! Out of all the barns we toured, this one really stood out to us! Alittle pricy, but SO WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! Our wedding was phenomenal not only for us, but for everyone that attended! The bathrooms are spacious, the bar is huge, and the dance floor is perfection. If you’re having a barn wedding and are a little bougie then this location is perfection! Michelle and her crew are amazing to work with and the location is absolutely perfect!! As soon as my then fiancé and I stepped into the barn it instantly took our breath away and gave us chills. We knew that is where we wanted to become husband and wife and start our new beginning. It was a night to remember and a night we can’t wait to tell all of our kids about!! I wish I could give Shanahan’s Barn more than 5 stars!! Book your tour, because when you walk into the barn you will fall in love!!

great to work with. Michelle was amazing through everything (including rescheduling due to Covid). We had a large band and the sound set up was completely seamless - the dance floor was packed all night! We had so many visitors from all over and many first timers to northern Michigan - the barn is a truly unique venue that really highlights the area. My husband also loved having a golf outing the day before, thanks to Keith for setting that up! Cannot recommend highly enough :)

here! Unfortunately, we had a 2020 wedding date set and Covid did affect our day. However, even with all the uncertainties, Michelle remained patient, calm, and understanding. We changed our wedding completely, and she worked so hard to accommodate our changes so we could still have a wedding. I'm beyond grateful that I was still able to have my wedding on our original date and that the venue remained flexible with us. I was able to have my dream ceremony!

impressed by the small, but dedicated team running the weddings. The set-up crew and bartenders are so friendly and will help with anything at the drop of a hat. The venue's wedding manager is genuinely invested in each wedding, wanting to make sure everything is just right for the couple. They always have the ceremony, reception, bar(s), etc. set up on time and they take care to do it well. They have their whole operation down to a science, which helps things run smoothly each time. Also, their new draping service takes the look of the barn to a whole new level. Shanahan's Barn is a GREAT place to have a wedding!

The space also works really nicely for wedding transitions - the loft is absolutely beautiful for the ceremony, there is ample space on the the main floor for a cocktail hour and dinner, and the loft makes a great dance floor! Michelle and her team were so helpful and went above and beyond to make sure that our day went smoothly. Charlevoix is also a beautiful town; we had beautiful spots around town and around the barn for photo-ops, and our out-of-town guests fell in love with the area! Absolutely recommend the barn to anyone looking for a venue in Northern Michigan!

I do wish there was a building / home to rent on the property at an additional cost as it would have been nice to get ready on the property. There are homes to rent out but they go so quick and even at a year and a half out we couldn’t find a place there! Beautiful venue and I am sure it will only grow more. I would get married at this barn again and again!

We were planning our wedding from California without a wedding planner but Michelle played a huge part in making everything go smoothly (the day was perfect) and kept our (meaning my wife's) stress level to a minimum through it all. She was super responsive and had a lot of great advice for us from start to finish. It could not have turned out the same way without her help. The day of the wedding the staff members at the barn were all very friendly and made all of our guests feel welcome. The barn and the surrounding area are beautiful and everyone who attended was impressed - especially those attending their first barn wedding. To get an idea of just how impressive Shanahan's Barn can be I suggest looking at Michael Murphy's photography. The space can hold 300+ people but even with about 75 it was lively and didn't feel empty. I want to say thank you very much to Michelle and Shanahan's Barn for helping us have the perfect wedding! wedding planning process a breeze. During what could be a very stressful time, Michelle's positive attitude and high sense of urgency really set the management apart. People are still talking about how beautiful the barn was, and I had a ton of people ask where this was when I posted our wedding pictures on Facebook. Having our wedding at Shanahan's barn was honestly the best decision we could have made. It was truly a fairy tale wedding. I wish I could attach pictures here.... but just trust me!

I utilized the newly renovated restroom lounging area while waiting for the ceremony to begin/for touch-up sessions during the reception, and it was very comfortable. The upstairs loft space for ceremony was breathtaking; our families & guests were very impressed. We also used Michelle’s services in organizing/coordinating our rehearsal/ceremony, and with her amazing guidance everything went flawless. We can go on and on, but hope you would do yourself a favor by not looking further. Shanahan’s Barn is the dream place to get married & Michelle is the best coordinator you can ever imagine! ctober 20th 2018, it was so cold! Michelle and owners helped us get so many heaters during the week of the wedding. They worked so hard to make sure we were going to be comfortable. Michelle was already right there to talk when you needed her at any time and could answer any questions! We now have guests writing us thank you notes saying how amazing the venue was and how everything was just perfect. Gray Gables catered and I don’t think there was a plate left with food on it. The bathrooms were great for final touches and getting my dress on. The dance floor was great and really brought everything together. I can’t wait to see our pictures!

When we back for a second visit, Michelle ran out of the barn and gave my daughter a big hug. At that moment, I looked at my daughter and said this is the venue for your wedding and your mother would approve. Michelle was amazing and helpful planning the wedding with my daughter who lived in Florida. The caterer Michelle recommended was outstanding and we couldn't have found a more perfect and beautiful venue. Michelle and her husband were there throughout the entire wedding to make sure there were no issues. Shanahan's Barn is awesome and my family and friends are stilling talking about the wedding and ceremony.

I got married on 9.21.2018, and four days later, my guests can't stop gushing over the venue. This is not a normal "barn" wedding - it is an elegant and creative space that you will absolutely love to decorate and make your own!
