Shanty Creek Resorts

le, with a water view, in a resort setting that had that relaxed "up north" feel. We wanted a place everyone could get away for the weekend, yet not be too far away from home. We chose the Bellaire Ballroom and Terrace as our venue site, and held a welcome party the night before overlooking Lake Bellaire at Helm's Gate behind the Lakeview Hotel at Summit. Jenna and then Rachel were both fabulous wedding coordinators who were extremely organized, patient and calm. The views were beautiful, the accommodations for our guests were lovely, and our welcome party, the cocktail hour and reception ran so smoothly. Every trip we made up to Shanty Creek to prepare for the wedding exceeded our expectations and the staff was always friendly and accommodating. I was initially worried about the Bellaire Ballroom looking a little outdated, but once it was decorated (Custom Creations by Sandy Doran), it was perfect and just as I had hoped it would look. The food was amazing, and we received so many compliments from our guests about the venue overall. We would have our wedding at Shanty Creek again in a heartbeat. We and our families felt it was worth every penny!

ght the place was beautiful, the staff helpful, and the coordinator amazing. I also have to tell everyone that I once use to work at Ivan's in high school so I knew the area well. My only complaint would be, if I was an outsider, I would be so lost trying to use their website, or finding a good location at Shanty for a wedding. There are not any good pictures of anything, the website doesn't provide a lot of information, and the directions are horrible. GPS doesn't work there either, so trying to give directions to this place is difficult. Like I said, the only reason I knew about Ivan's and how beautiful it is, is because I used to work there. There are many other areas in Shanty Creek that are beautiful too but they definitely don't advertise it well. They really tried to push me into using one of their ballrooms or conference rooms which I don't think are suited for weddings at all. They should have been pushing me to one of their more prettier locations. It's a great place, and a hidden gem, but again, they just don't advertise their options very well. It would be hard for outsiders to get their foot in the door, but once you do, it's amazing!!! They had a professional pastry chef make the cake, a full service bar inside and I added another cocktail bar outside on the deck, single plate service, amazing food, a big dance floor and stage, and lots of extra options if you want. They even have an ice sculpture guy on hand so he can sculpt your own ice sculpture! They truly think of every detail even down to the place settings! They also offer you a list of trusted vendors that they've used in the past for stuff like photography, flowers, etc. They had a honeymoon room included in the package too that had complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in the room. Overall, the night went flawlessly, so I would highly recommend using Shanty Creek for you wedding or wedding reception!

sit due to the age of the resort, some items are outdated, but after meeting with the wedding coordinator and checking out some rooms as my husband said "you know they will give you a great wedding"! Of course, he was right! I was impressed with how quickly all questions were answered. It was fabulous to visit for a taste testing! All of the items were delicious and it was not an easy decision. All details were reviewed several times, sent in writing, discussed on the phone....whatever method Jenna was completely flexible with communicating with me in any which way. Any issues that arose were immediately addressed and resolved....in all aspects, lodging, wedding, food, housekeeping, wait staff....just a bunch of friendly folks at Shanty Creek! We would love to do it again and would do it there again in a heartbeat! It was a perfect spot to hang with our family and celebrate our wedding weekend!
