My sister used Shaw and Boehler for her wedding. The owner, Vicki, immediately had some attitude but I disregarded my sisters impression as maybe just Vicki having a bad day. Her order ended up having various issues between poor customer servic...e, multiple pages of the proposal changes lying around the florist shoppe, and she was never shown her stock, as promised, beforehand. Vicki used these cranberry-looking items that my sister would not have wanted for a July wedding but by the time the wedding came, it was too late. She only saw them the day before.
When it came time to plan my wedding I decided to go with them anyways thinking that maybe it was just one not-so-great experience. I was disappointed when I saw my paper work after explaining what I wanted to Vicki. For instance, my phone number had approximately 13 digits in it (not sure how they ever planned on calling me) and the description of my dress and the description of what I wanted my bouquet to look like were reversed. Vicki also told me numerous times that our order seemed small, we was her "small wedding" making me and my fiance feel slightly insignificant and unimportant. But again, we tried to ignore this.
I corrected the issues calmly and asked my mom to go deliver them since I am planning the wedding from 5 hours away. When my mom called to schedule her appt. Vicki brought up that my sister was "difficult to deal with" and our orders were so small it really wasn't worth my sister getting upset. Mind you, my mom was just calling to schedule an appointment to discuss an entirely different wedding.
Naturally, my mom's feelings were hurt and she was taken aback, even after knowing Vicki for years. After seeing how upset my mom was, I called to fire the vendor. Vicki insisted on telling me that everyone loved her and she didn't believe anyone thought otherwise. I told her I am firing you not for your quality of work, but for your customer service. It is never okay to tell someone's mother bad things about their daughter or my sister.
Not once did she apologize for hurting my mother's feelings. What an awful way to run a business. Really a shame. Poor proposal process, and talking poorly about customers to the customers- Making them feel small. I can't imagine how the guy simply buying 24 roses gets treated.
There are many other amazing vendors in the area! Anyone but Shaw and Boehler will do.
