Oh Shawn, she was so amazing! literally could not have asked for anyone better! when we did our engagement session with her, we immediately clicked and I knew we chose the right person! she not only is a great photographer, but really friendly and outgoing! and was able to keep my family in check for photos! love love love her! she made it such a great time and kept me laughing and smiling all night!

Shawn was so open and flexible with my ideas and vision for the day, which allowed us to try doing ALL of our photos BEFORE the ceremony! Even tho we were short on time, we managed to get it done so we were to spend cocktail hour with family and friends. Thats just one of the many things that made Shawn and Sam so great! Not to mention their personalities and talent!😍Everything came out amazing.. the little details, bridal party and family portraits, ceremony and reception..everything! The photos really capture how much love and fun our day was filled with and we are so thankful to have had them a part of our special day!🙏❤

Shawn Sawyer is a big personality, and let me tell you, that is a good thing when it comes to photographing a wedding! My family and my husband's family are not just big, but outspoken and energetic. When you combine those things, and then try to organize everyone into taking formal portraits? Wow, it is a lot of work. But Shawn was no-nonsense and was able to herd our families with no trouble. The resulting pictures are beautiful and have a great vibe to them. We had Shawn, and her assistant and 2nd cameraperson, Sam, for 8 hours on the day of our wedding, and they did an awesome job. We had an unusual timing for the day, with an early wedding (at 1pm) and a late reception (5-10pm). But they made the most of every moment they were there, and wasted no time when they arrived on the scene. I thought we wouldn't have time to get any photos before the ceremony, but they managed to get in a bunch, including a first look with my and my Dad, and some lovely candid moments of my mother helping me get into my dress and shoes. I love those photos. We also had some great sunset shots, delightful candids surrounding the ceremony and during the reception, and gorgeous detail shots of the flowers, rings, invitations, dessert table and centerpieces at the reception, etc. We were especially picky when it came to finding the right photographer, as my husband and I are photographers ourselves and work in the film industry. We definitely asked her more in-depth questions about every aspect of her approach and her business than I think most people have, and she handled us gracefully and with humor. We really enjoyed working with her and we'd recommend her to anyone, not just for weddings, but for any moment in life worth photographing.

I was looking for a photographer that could do it all: take amazingly beautiful candid shots, still portraits, action portraits, scenic, and whose style leaned slightly more photojournalistic and raw so as to truly capture the personality of our wedding. Shawn Sawyer Photography did all of that and more. She made everyone, bridal party and families on both sides feel comfortable and natural. It was as if we'd known Shawn our whole lives! I found Shawn through an online search, and she came highly recommended by my venue. She was so easy to work with, it still blows my mind. Her sense of humor and personality was a perfect match. My wedding was at the Williamsburg Winery, but I was planning it from afar (St. Louis, MO). Most of my exchanges with Shawn were over the phone, which is sometimes hard to get a gauge. When we met in person, it was a seamless exchange. I would recommend Shawn to anyone and everyone. She is versatile and very accommodating, and tough! She helped keep me on track and was very clear on what information she needed from me and when. Even with a family size of 46+ she kept us in line and took all of the shots I asked for with time to spare. We couldn't be more satisfied with the results and the service. Her photos speak for themselves, and truly captured the spirit of the moment (she made us look amazing too!). I've received countless compliments from friends and family, and couldn't be more happy with her edits, quantity, and variety.
