ncredibly sweet. I really felt that her number one goal was making sure I was happy, and when hiring a vendor for your wedding, you can’t ask for anything more. When it was time to send out our save-the-dates, we knew we didn’t want a standard engagement photo announcement, so we started looking for calligraphers. I had something specific in mind and was looking for someone to create it for us. We wanted our printed materials to be elegant, classic and beautiful, and I felt Katelyn’s style matched all of those qualities. From the first time we spoke, I just felt like Katelyn understood my vision exactly. She asked the right questions, offered helpful suggestions, and provided clarity to me where I was struggling to explain my ideas. She ended up creating an incredible sketch of Chicago’s skyline as the main focal point of the invitation, which we were blown away by. Besides loving her calligraphy, her sketching and drawing work was beyond what we had imagined. When we sent them to friends and family, we received a ridiculous amount of complements and praise on them. Mostly people wanted to know where we found them online, ha! We loved the save-the-dates so much we ended up hiring Katelyn to creative our invitation suite and the remainder of our printed materials / wedding extras. We decided having a beautifully designed, hand-written invitation that you can’t purchase online made us feel like we had something that was uniquely ours. Again we met to discuss our vision, and she provide recommendations on incorporating wax seals, ribbons and liners - which I really needed help with. For the invitation suite, she provided three different options for us to choose from; I was impressed that she even showcased three different writing styles. Honestly it was hard to choose just one - we loved them all that much. Between myself, my mom and my fiancé weighing in, we decided to merge two styles together. In terms of our feedback, she listened to our changes and made them in a very timely fashion. For our other pieces, Katelyn drew inspiration from our invitations, so it was wonderful to see how everything fit together perfectly. She even hand-wrote all of the escort cards and table numbers which really took our decor to the next level. Everything she created looked so elegant and complemented our formal venue perfectly. Even the typically boring card box she crated was nicer than anything I could have imagined. My favorite piece she created was probably the welcome sign. My mom found a vintage picture frame from my grandparents house and we converted it to a mirror for her to write on. It meant so much to have a personal item incorporated into our day, and Katelyn’s calligraphy was the perfect addition to it. Overall, hiring her was the smartest decision we made during our entire planning process and we could not be happier. If you’re on the fence about getting a calligrapher, it’s really a no brainer, you NEED to hire her for your wedding needs. Besides being such a wonderful person to work with, all of our materials could be described as truly beautiful. We actually framed some of her work hung it in our new house so we can cherish it forever. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Katelyn!!

t the tone for your wedding and having a beautifully designed and hand-written invitation sets the tone for a beautiful wedding. As soon as our guests began receiving our invitations, we got so many calls and texts just raving about the invitation. So many of our single friends said they were keeping ours so that they would have a reference for when they got engaged (the men, too)! Her work is top-notch and working with Katelyn was such a joy. I was recommended by a friend that used her to design custom save the dates (and I just fell in love with them). After talking with Katelyn, hiring her was a no-brainer. She is so sweet, so professional, so detail-oriented and her work is absolutely stunning. We hired her to design our entire invitation suite along with all calligraphy for our invitations. I went to her with a budget and she was so helpful in finding ways to save money through the process (for example; she made a stamp for us for our return envelopes rather than charge us per individual envelope - and super cute to have after your wedding!). She designed three different invitation suites and was so patient with me during my decision process. We ended up hiring her to print them as well (letterpress). Once I saw how gorgeous everything was printed, we decided to have her also do wax stamps for us. I can't describe the response we got on our invitations when people started receiving them; they were in such awe and were so impressed by them, that my mother-in-law made the decision that we needed to hire her for absolutely everything. She said now that we set the tone for this insanely gorgeous wedding, everything related to our wedding had to match. We extended our contract and also had her design all wedding signage (welcome sign, instagram sign, program, escort cards, table numbers, gift card sign, etc). I was probably a little crazy, and never once did she make me feel like I was - Katelyn is so patient, so understanding, so professional and beyond talented. My advice is that you only get one day. Make it your dream wedding and skip the online invitations that all your friends are doing and announce your engagement with custom save-the-dates and invitations by Shaye Calligraphy and Design. Her talent is truly unmatched. If you live in Minneapolis, she is even willing to meet with you in person to discuss the design; her creative mind will absolutely match your vision and I assure you, she will design and create the most aesthetically gorgeous save-the-dates, invitations, thank you cards, escort cards, favors and all things wedding signage! We are so excited to get our wedding pictures back to post and share all her work with everyone! Thank you so much, Katelyn for all your hard work the months leading up to our wedding.
