A nine-time winner of the Best of Weddings Award, Shelley Otis is a Boston-based full-time professional harpist with over 15 years of experience and more than 1,100 weddings performed locally as well as destination weddings in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Europe. Her catalog of over 500 songs allows for flexible, personalized music choices: couples can choose from a variety of genres including popular, classical, jazz, and various world traditions, with the option to request additional songs she doesn’t already play. She enjoys the artistic challenge of arranging music of all types for the harp, and is happy to put that skill to work in order to accommodate your personal wedding vision.

As a full-time professional harpist, I perform regularly throughout the greater Boston area, providing music for weddings, elopements, showers, and corporate events, both as a solo harpist and with my band, the Boston HarpBeat.
What do I love most about my work? My relationships with my clients and getting to be a part of so many special moments! That connection is what keeps me inspired. I also enjoy the artistic challenge of adapting any kind of music to the harp. I create almost all of my own harp arrangements, and I find it rewarding to be able to use that skill to help make someone's day special.

She also learned a special song for the bridal entrance from the musical "Hadestown" without hesitation. Shelley always said yes and was extremely organized when planning. She made us feel very comfortable and well taken care of. The ceremony was our favorite part of the day and she helped to make it so. We are SO happy we found Shelley -- she and her colleague Fabio made our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour incredibly special. Shelley and Fabio played a harp and cajon/percussion...
combo for our day, which so perfectly encapsulated who we are are a couple ("sophisticated spice!"). All of our guests loved the fun elegance that the music brought to our day. Shelley and Fabio learned two songs for our that made our ceremony so personal: "Backpocket" by Vulfpeck and "Dos Oruguitas" from the Encanto soundtrack. Both songs sounded incredible and brought tears to our eyes.
Shelley is responsive, an excellent communicator, and perfectly delivers the vibe you envision for your day. We were a mixed-ethnicity wedding (Latine + white) and she and Fabio played a great combination of Latin- and pop-based songs. Apart from getting married, Shelley and Fabio were easily one of the top highlights of our wedding day. I strongly recommend Shelley Otis and her team for your wedding or event.

nt the live music, and say what a difference it makes (compared to a DJ with speakers) when the bride is walking down the aisle. It creates this intimacy that is unmatched. I remember feeling so nervous during the ceremony, standing in front of all of our guests, but Shelley's soft harp music in the background completely grounded me, and I found myself listening to her music every time I felt nervous. After the ceremony, Shelley seamlessly began playing fun upbeat jazz music for our cocktail hour, which I found to be so much fun and really create that easy and relaxed vibe after the "I do" that we were going for. In addition to the harp just being absolutely amazing, Shelley was also so fun and easy to work with. She is one of the most centered and calm people I've ever met, and definitely a personality that I needed on my team as the big day grew closer and the stress increased. Her communication is excellent, and she has the ability to put all of the jumbled ideas into a solid plan by using her knowledge, experience, and creativity. I recommend Shelley 110%, this is definitely a service to include in your wedding; it's a small unique touch that makes a WORLD of difference on your big day.

process so easy. She took all of our song choices into consideration and was extremely helpful when we asked for recommendations. Her song choice library is extremely extensive, she was able to play everything we wanted. And, she even learned to play a song that wasn’t in her repertoire. A song that was very special to us, so we were so grateful that she was eager, excited and willing to learn it for our ceremony. She did a phenomenal job. The music was completely beautiful, we couldn’t be happier with Shelley and her beautiful work! Highly, highly recommend!!
