We can't say enough good things about Shenandoah Woods. We got married there in September 2024. Jason is so communicative and easy to work with and he brought a calm and competent energy to the weekend's events. We had about 100 guests and loved that everyone could stay at the cabins on site -- it transformed the wedding into a full weekend getaway for our friends and family! The views from the Pavilion are unparalleled -- our photos are so gorgeous!
This venue was the only one my husband and I viewed. As soon as we saw the pavillion, the views over looking the shenandoah mountains and valley we were sold. Jason Cave (the owner) was available and flexibile when it came to communication and support.
Our wedding at Shenandoah Woods was everything we dreamed of and more. What makes this venue so special is having the venue for the entire weekend, not merely 12 hours on a Saturday. This allowed us to host a welcome party, wedding reception, and farewell brunch for all of our on-property guests. All of our guests have said this was so unique and it allowed us (bride and groom) to interact with more people organically as a wedding reception doesn't allow for as much interaction due to the time crunch. During the reception, Jason pulled out heaters at exactly the moment we knew it was getting a little chilly. During the afterparty, Jason shuttled guests back to their cabin from Somerset. Anything we needed, including extra time to get all of our belongings out of the pavilion, Jason did for us. The wedding venue is the most important wedding vendor and you can't go wrong with Jason and Shenandoah Woods.
We had our wedding here 6/36/2022 and it was the best and most funnest weekend with our families we all have had. To have the venue the weekend is great for othe uses such as brunches, rehearsal dinners, or game night! We utilized the picnic area, Pavillion, and the Somerset Cabin for our events with our families and friends. Loved that the cabins are blocked off for guest to book and they're handled by the venue. All issues our guests had at the cabins had them immediately resolved with a text to Jason or the number provided at booking. All the guests loved the cabins and everyone was in completely different ones. Ones for families, couples, adults only, or single, everyone had a comfy cabin for the weekend or longer. It rained on our wedding day and the pavilion was still cozy and comfortable. Guests loved the convenience of the shuttle on the day of the wedding and after the wedding. Each cabin has a beautiful view and will make you come back. We came back for our honeymoon and used the discount that was given when we booked the venue. It was a bit intimidating to have everything to your responsibility but it ended up being very simple and they work will all vendors! We loved having our wedding custom made to our desires and this venue is the perfect place to do so! The pavilion had everything needed for our wedding such as the bathrooms with changing areas, kitchen, yard games, tables, lights, mics, and ceiling fans! Even the sign with our names was our to keep! The vendors had a relaxing time at the venue. Jason was very helpful and wonderful to work with! We booked our venue 2 years out and in that 2 years he always kept communication and always answered any questions we had. The price of the venue was well worth everything we received!
We cannot begin to describe how wonderful this venue was for our wedding. Jason is prepared for every circumstance, is incredibly responsive, and went above and beyond to ensure our guests had a wonderful time. Absolutely stunning views of the surrounding Shenandoah valley and a truly picturesque place to get married. The Pavilion is an excellent size for a reception with great facilities and things to do. Another huge plus are the cabins, located on site, allowing your wedding to continue even after the dancing has stopped. We highly recommend Jason and Shenandoah Woods as a top-tier wedding venue.
We had our wedding weekend at Shenandoah Woods and could not imagine a more perfect venue. The pavilion is very well equipped and we used it for our welcome dinner, cocktail hour, and wedding reception. The views out onto the mountains are perfect for photos or a quiet moment away from the crowds. The built in sound system and lighting made throwing a party simple. The Chapel in the Woods is what truly sold us when Jason pointed out that the mountain we got engaged on in Shenandoah National Park was visible from where we'd be standing during our ceremony. The luxury cabins onsite and nearby provided plenty of space for our friends and families and let everyone stay longer than they might have otherwise to make it more than just a few hours of celebration. Jason, the owner, was always quick to respond to questions and offer assistance or additional decorations as he could. Everyone could not stop marveling about how perfect the venue was and we would highly recommend it to anyone!
Shenandoah Woods is the perfect place for a wedding in every possible way. It was truly magical to bring all our friends and family to this beautiful place for a woodland weekend. Our guests have raved about the amazing cabins, views, and amenities. We rave about the beautiful ceremony site, the local vendors that enjoy working here so much, the attention to detail that owner Jason Cave puts towards every detail of the Pavilion and venue - it's just a truly special place. It was the first decision we made about our wedding and it made everything else fall into place so perfectly, joyously and beautifully! This venue is worth every penny. And now, we have an amazing vacation spot to visit any time we want to relive our wedding weekend!
We got married at Shenandoah Woods almost two weeks ago and it was everything we could have hoped for! Jason was easy to communicate with and accommodating. We had to postpone our wedding for a year and Jason was wonderful to work with through that change. Most of our guests stayed in the cabins on site and loved the shuttle service that Jason provided, the stunning views, the hot tubs, and the wedding weekend getaway with so many loved ones. We were lucky to still have some fall colors on the trees and had some stunning backdrops all day. The Pavilion was warm and cozy with the heaters going, vinyl walls down, and fire pit roaring as it got down to the low 40s during our reception! We used the Pavilion for the rehearsal dinner and a Sunday brunch as well. I can't recommend Jason and Shenandoah Woods enough. It was all perfect!
I had my wedding on October 5, 2019 at Shenandoah Woods and could not have asked for a more perfect wedding weekend. While a bit more pricey than some venues in the area, it is perfect to ensure lodging for your guests, have it booked out for 3 whole days (helps with prep, cleaning up, and just spending time with people), and serving up one of the most beautiful views/spaces in the area.
Jason, the venue owner is on top of everything. We worked with him for over 2 years. He was always very responsive, helped provide recommendations on local vendors, and thought of tons of details for weddings.
The venue itself - - for the ceremony, it provides a intimate setting in the woods, simple in it’s beauty yet so expansive in focus of the couple. We had a beautiful backdrop of corn husks and mountains, and even had a bear go through our ceremony during my husbands vows!!!
For the reception - state of the art sound system, on demand heaters or closed pavilion should the weather change, beautiful lawn for games, and even holding rooms for the couple’s things or the bridal party. Despite being in the mountains, you feel like you are in a chic event.
The cabins - these are not your typical cabins. They provide hot tubs, wifi, flat screen tvs, expansive views, full kitchens, fire pits....and the lists go on.
I would HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone, especially if you are outdoorsy at all. We moved to Colorado and felt like this gave all of our guests a slice of us!
We just returned from a 4 day fairy tale weekend at Shenandoah Woods. We hosted our daughter's wedding here including a rehearsal dinner Friday and an brunch Sunday morning all at the pavilion. We did not want to leave.....Shenandoah Woods is paradise in the mountains. So beautiful and serene. It was the perfect...and I stress...perfect venue for our wedding weekend.
The views from the pavilion and the wedding chapel are breathtaking. I'm sure the photography from the day will be incredible given the scenery and views.
In addition, our guests rented all of the cabins and I heard nothing but wonderful comments about how beautiful the cabins were, the views, everything about them. I also heard regrets from a few guests who stayed in local hotels...regrets that after they saw Shenandoah Woods that they really wished they had booked cabins as well.
Jason Cave manages this wonderful place, a family business with a beautiful history. From the time we met him in 2017 through our wedding festivities this past weekend he was so helpful and attentive to our every needs. We couldn't of asked for a better host and I sincerely mean that. Thank you Jason so much for everything you did for us!
I want to make a note on the weather....we had fabulous weather for our ceremony and brunch but were challenged with a windy, raining Friday evening for the rehearsal. The Pavilion was more than equipped for this with heaters and clear plastic walls that can be put down on the sides, leaving open areas....preserving the natural beauty and views while keeping us comfortable under the roof. The rehearsal dinner was a big success and we were more than prepared for our plan B to do our ceremony inside if needed...it would have been as beautiful and successful if we needed to. Again, Jason was there every step of the way Friday evening making sure we were all good and that the Pavilion was properly setup for that night.
Again, thanks so much Jason, we really really could not say more great things about your wonderful wedding venue and your cabins. If I could give you 10 stars I would!
We can’t say enough wonderful things about Shenandoah Woods and Jason Cave – both the venue and Jason exceeded our expectations. Book Shenandoah Woods for your wedding or other event! The venue and ceremony site are beautiful and offer spectacular views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. The luxury cabins are unreal – huge private log cabins with gorgeous views. They have modern kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms, and most include special features such as hot tubs and/or gas fireplaces.
Throughout the process, Jason was highly responsive, flexible, supportive, thoughtful and calm. He has been supporting weddings for a few years and has seen it all. His experience and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated, and he offered some great suggestions that improved the wedding. A few days before the wedding, we were working with Jason on the logistics of picking up guests from the cabins and dropping them off at the ceremony site, and realized we had more guests that required transportation than anticipated. Jason was able to rapidly provide a solution – an extra van and driver for a very low cost to ensure our guests would be comfortable. He worked well with our wedding coordinator and our vendors, ensuring the day would be seamless.
The view from the this venue is gorgeous. The owner is a dream to work with.
Jason and his venue truly made our wedding weekend everything we wanted and more. He is literally the most responsive person ever. Gets back to you in lightening speed to emails, texts and phone calls making you feel like you are his only client (which clearly isn't true given he is booked out so far!). He is constantly making improvements to his properties and the venue. Most of our family, wedding party and guests stayed on site in the cabins and everyone was so impressed by the quality and condition of them all. Not to mention the GORGEOUS views. We ended up having our rehearsal dinner at the Keaton Ridge Cabin and was just perfect. The view were great and there was TONS of space on the bottom floor to host approximately 60 people. With the weather in flux that weekend, Jason was right there to make a last second ceremony change from the outdoor ceremony site in the woods to the reception pavilion and made it so it was not even noticeable that it was supposed to be different. He shuttled the wedding party around for pictures and guests home at the end of the night along with countless other tasks I probably aren't aware went on "behind the scenes". Overall we can not say enough good things about Jason and Shenandoah Woods. The BEST! We look forward to going back again to rent cabins in the wedding off season. If you are considering Shenandoah Woods, DO IT! It will be the best wedding decision you've made!
We got married at Shenandoah Woods on 04/21/2018 and it was the Best Day Ever, largely thanks to owner Jason Cave and this beautiful venue :) We live in DC and were originally planning a destination wedding - we wanted to keep it small and intimate. But the challenges of trying to plan a DIY wedding far away made us revisit the idea of sticking to the DMV area. After months of researching, visiting countless venues, and almost giving up on finding a place that would meet our needs AND our budget, we stumbled across S-Woods. The minute I visited the website and saw Jason's motto - "weddings should last days, not hours" - I knew this would be the place for us. I immediately contacted Jason and he let us come out that very week to see the place in-person. Jason was extremely accommodating, professional, chill, and responsive throughout the whole booking and planning process. He clearly takes pride in each of his cabins, as well as each of the weddings he hosts. We were very impressed by the fact that he is continuously making upgrades and changes based on feedback from previous weddings (for example, installing strands of Edison bulb string lights all over the place because he saw so many couples using them). The Pavilion itself includes everything you need to make a wedding perfect – from the sound system, to the firepit, to the heaters/tent walls (which we did use because it was chilly when the sun went down!) Jason even shuttled our guests to/from the ceremony and was on-hand to take care of any last-minute things that came up. His ‘go with the flow’ attitude, attention to detail, excellent communication, and assistance with our many questions and cabin bookings meant our wedding weekend exceeded our highest expectations. Cannot recommend Shenandoah Woods enough and we look forward to returning for relaxing cabin stays in the future!
Consistent with the other reviews, SW was above our price range but we fell in love with it and decided to splurge. It is a totally gorgeous venue and we loved that so many of our guests could stay in the on-site cabins. Jason was amazingly responsive to all our emails and questions, and went out of his way to make sure everything went smoothly. We had our welcome dinner and Sunday brunch at Somerset cabin, which was the perfect location and Jason offered to bring up extra tables and chairs from the pavilion. Our guests all commented on our gorgeous the ceremony site, Pavilion, and their cabins were. We couldn't have been happier with the venue!
My husband and I fell in love with this venue as soon as we saw it. Even thought it was a little bit out of our price range, we made it work and it was SO worth it. There is so much that this space has to offer - cabins to rent, ceremony space, reception space, rehearsal dinner space, plus you get the venue for the entire weekend, which made my life a lot easier. Jason was super easy to work with and answered all of my questions throughout the process. One thing we also loved is that once you send in your deposit, the cabins are reserved with a special password for your wedding guests (up until 60 days before the wedding) so they all get first dibs on cabins. Our guests were thoroughly impressed with the venue and kept saying how beautiful the location was. We also heard many of our guests say that they liked that they were able to make a weekend out of their stay (because of the cabins) instead of just a quick day trip or one night stay. We also loved that Jason gave us recommendations of vendors to use, but was also flexible with bringing other people in.
Two thumbs way up for this venue - it is completely worth every penny!
Shenandoah Woods was an amazing venue for our wedding 6-29-16! Jason could not have been easier to work with and the venue is absolutely top notch! My guests were blown away by the beauty that these spaces offer and how perfect it was for a wedding. Somerset cabin for the welcome dinner, the chapel in the woods for the ceremony, the Pavilion for the reception, the picnic area by the pond for a breakfast send off, and the additional cabins available for guests truly offered the perfect experience for our wedding! I was blown away with everything that was included in the wedding package and how much and for how long we had access to it all. I had so many people tell me that the venue could not have been more amazing. The view from the Pavilion doesn't even look real it is so beautiful! There are so many special details like the old truck, the beverage canoe, the fire pit, the brick paver aisle, the pews in the woods, the corn hole boards, etc. that help make the scene without the extra expense, planning, or rentals. It was picture perfect and even though it was insanely perfect weather on our day-it was really nice knowing that if it had rained the Pavilion still offers an outdoor experience that would have been covered. It was insane to think that my rain plan was many people's first choice as ceremony site. That's how awesome and picturesque this place is and how many ceremony site options there are! It really was amazing and we are so thankful to have found it!
This place is seriously amazing, it had everything we needed or wanted, all in one place! Jason (the owner) is incredibly responsive and totally has this down. The ceremony site is beautiful, we even had some local cows come watch our ceremony! It is a little bit on the expensive side for a wedding venue, but it is totally worth every bit because you have the venue for the whole weekend and we really had a 4 day wedding weekend and it couldn't have been more perfect.
This venue is stunning! My husband and I were thrilled to get married with such a beautiful view of the mountains! We unfortunately got rained out of the outdoor ceremony site, but getting married up at the “plan B” site at the pavilion was just as gorgeous. There is no such thing as a bad location at Shenandoah Woods. Pictures turned out amazing with the view. Jason was a very gracious host and put up and took down the temporary sides of the pavilion to help with weather issues like a champ! I am so very thankful for him! Our guests were in awe by the view and the details of the venue. Shenandoah Woods has definitely done the whole wedding venue thing right! Book it now while you can, once the word gets out, spots are going to go fast! Unlike other venues, your booking is from Friday to Sunday, so it is perfect for those DIY-ers who want to set up stuff themselves, you have the venue for plenty of time! I see Shenandoah Woods being the premier place to get married in the area in the next few years when the word gets out. Thank you again, Jason! You ROCK!
