Sheraton McKinney Hotel

I normally don't leave reviews but feel it necessary to do so here, because of how poorly I was treated by this venue. We were in contact with Troy StJunior regarding booking a venue for our wedding reception. She initially responded after a few days, and we booked tours to see the venue. She came to the lobby and called us by the wrong name. Then when we corrected her, she said she double booked. This should have been our first red flag! The venue itself is pretty with a lot of room and lovely chandeliers. We were ready to book the venue! She said she would follow up with us after a few days about booking the venue, but never did, and we had to call her. Another red flag. She seemed very disinterested. We negotiated the price with Troy over the phone, and she said it was doable. Several days passed and she sent us a proposal with a different price and number of people. Repeat this a few times over the next several weeks (almost 2 months), where each time it would take her almost a week to respond. We liked the venue so much that we ignored how we were treated. After we kept getting different prices and quotes, we decided to just book it. She was initially very excited. Then emailed us back a few hours later saying her boss said the price was wrong. AND that another couple had been holding the venue this whole time and was first option. We were shocked!! How were we not told this initially? We had absolutely no idea. We called her, and called her boss, Donna Patterson, and did not receive any answers - just vague responses about how this happens with venues sometimes. Barely received any apologies and were told that we needed to ask for the contract sooner. Again, we didn't know we needed to ask for a contract, and even so, we couldn't since we kept getting different quotes. Donna said that there were multiple sales people working, and didn't always know if there was a date on hold. That is extremely unprofessional. We were told that the following week we would know if the other couple booked the venue or not. We started searching for venues again, which was very stressful as it was like starting all over! We thankfully quickly found another venue that we loved! 2 weeks later, we received a very generic email from Troy saying the venue was booked. Again, no apology. As lovely as this venue was, I would highly discourage using the Sheraton McKinney due to my experience with the sales team. We were not treated like a valued party, as we were at other venues. We spoke with countless venues- those we toured and not- who treated us with much better respect, so I know the Sheraton's behavior is not the norm. We expected a lot more from the Sheraton!
