It was the perfect money! The vendor was so accommodating and inclusive and excepting of ideas. Food was amazing as well.
We had our wedding/reception at Kellogg Hall and it was everything we wanted. The room is beautiful, the food was amazing, and Amanda is the best! Amanda (the venue coordinator) is so sweet and helpful, she helps make this venue even better. Our food was amazing, and their set up of the food was beautiful. Our guests were talking about it all night! My one tiny little complaint would be the bartending service they require you to use (Salut Market), he made me nervous the whole time and then I was not impressed with his final result. Other than that, everything else was perfect and my husband and I were so happy!
We could not have asked for a better experience for our wedding. The outdoor chapel is an absolutely gorgeous setting for a ceremony. There is nothing else like it in the area. Amanda was very helpful throughout the planning process and made sure all the details were thought through before the big day. In the days leading up to our wedding, Jenneil was also very helpful in coordinating the last minute details, and she kept everyone on schedule the day of. The food is delicious and we received many compliments (especially on the garlic brown sugar balsamic flank steak!!). Amanda helped us create menu that worked with our budget, including a gorgeous food-scape display for cocktail hour and delicious pizza for a late-night snack. All of the staff at Sherman Lake were kind, helpful, and professional. Thank you Sherman Lake for a wonderful wedding experience!
From our first meeting to the day of the wedding, Amanda was attentive to the details that make a reception special & reflective of the bride & groom. Her "foodscapes" were not only delicious but their presentation was gorgeous. The reception meal was not your standard "pick an entree" fare; it was unique with the menu decided upon by the bride and groom with Amanda's help. We had many compliments about the food.
The venue is beautiful... surrounded by nature with many lovely options for photos. Although we chose not to have our ceremony there, it is a pretty venue for an outdoor wedding.
The Sherman Lake Retreat & Event staff couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. The end result was a wedding reception that my son and new "daughter" will remember most fondly. It was the day they had dreamed of.
Warm thanks and kudos to Amanda, Jenneil & the rest of Sherman Lake Retreat & Events staff.
Amanda and Alan went above and beyond in working with us in the months before our October 2015 wedding and were very flexible around our work schedule, meeting us on Saturdays and Sundays when necessary. We planned to use the outdoor chapel for our ceremony in early October 2015 and the Kellogg Great Hall for our reception. Unfortunately it was cold and rainy on our wedding day, so we were unable to use the chapel, but the staff quickly moved the dining tables around in the Great Hall so we could hold our ceremony there...the room is so gorgeous, I didn't even mind! I can't tell you how many compliments we received on the food, as well as the venue and staff. The rain cleared up after our ceremony, so we were able to walk around the grounds a bit and get some photos in the gorgeous scenery. I would do it all again in a heartbeat!
We had the most amazing experience with Sherman Lake YMCA. Not only was it beautiful, but the staff went above and beyond for us. We used the outdoor chapel for the ceremony, which is set right on the lake and is surrounded by big, beautiful trees. The reception was located in the Kellogg Great Hall. We had just under 200 guests and they fit perfectly in the location. The patio around the hall was really nice to sneak outside for a couple minutes and look at the beautiful surroundings. The food was great (salad, redskin potatoes, caprese pasta, veggies, flank steak, lemon thyme chicken and pizza for a late night snack) and there was plenty to go around. A BIG thanks to the staff for all the help and direction they gave us. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat!
This is a YMCA camp that is a naturally gorgeous place to have a wedding and reception. The outdoor chapel is intimate and romantic with the lake serving as the backdrop. The Hall itself has high open ceilings with exposed beams and a view of natural on three entire walls! This place does not need a lot of decorating and the food and service were exceptional. I can't say enough good things about Sherman Lake, they made my wedding day!!
Had my wedding at Sherman Lake YMCA on October 7, 2012. Amanda Redebaugh was the most beautiful person and so easy to work with. She was great! She helped me decide the right food and the right way to do the ceremony and reception. She had great ideas and was so willing to talk whenever I needed...weddings are SO stressful when you are about 3 months out! Amanda eased my fears and was the best support I could have asked for. She also helped me pick the BEST Photographer, Chris McGuire, out of Kalamazoo! She and her staff made it the most beautiful day of my life so far. Alan was the one I worked with for the flow of my ceremony. The best thing about him was that you could tell he cared! He wanted it to be perfect for me, because he cared about me! Thank you all!! -Candace Lopez
The overall experience here was really good. Amanda, the event coordinator was so nice and made sure everything went smoothly. The food was good and displayed beautifully. A few minor imperfections but nothing to ruin the day
This is a beautiful location however, they were difficult to communicate with throughout the process. Emails were over a week to respond at times. Also, we just got our final bill and they included an $800 dollar charge that was not specified in our contract. They did remove the charge but when I was looking at the bill closers, they also over-charged us for the number of people that came and the price they gave me per plate was also increased on the final payment.
Amanda is outstanding and listens to what you really want. The foodscapes are just amazing and the service was exceptional, right down to the littlest detail. Thank you Sherman Lake for making our wedding so special!
We had our wedding at the Sherman Lake YMCA in June 2011 and everything was simply amazing. We used their outdoor chapel for our wedding ceremony as well as Kellogg Hall for the reception. Both sites are beautiful and led to many compliments and fantastic pictures. The Dogwood site was also the perfect setting for our first look and a great backdrop for our wedding party photos. The staff was great and helped keep everything running smoothly. Alan was a huge help carting around the bride and bridesmaids and helping to coordinate where needed. Amanda was also a huge help and the food spread she and her staff put together was delicious and a work of art. Overall it was just an excellent experience working with them and made our wedding day that much more special. Since we've been married (6 weeks) we've already heard of two other family friends getting married there. It seems to be increasing in its popularity.
One thing to be noted by potential couples looking to do their ceremony here, the chapel is about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot. If you're okay with walking the distance it is actually a beautiful walk through the woods and adds to the experience. Alternatively, they will also allow you to have friends or family drive a car on a separate path to the ceremony site for any guest who aren't comfortable walking that far. We used this arrangement with some of our grandparents and it was perfect.
Sherman Lake YMCA in Augusta was a perfect setting for our wedding ceremony and reception. We were married on the covered deck and enjoyed a wonderful reception in Kellogg Hall. The hall is surrounded by trees. The food was fantastic. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was and said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. The grounds are so gorgeous for wedding photos. We couldn't have been happier with our perfect day.
