About this vendor
Located in the heart of Fairfax, VA, and Maintained by the City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation, lies the historic Old Town Hall. For over 100 years the hall has hosted all kinds of soirees, feasts, and wedding receptions. The venue continues to host numerous weddings and celebrations every year.
Framing the main entrance of the white building are large Tuscan columns stationed on the front deck. Surrounding the hall lies a twinkle-lit patio, great for cocktail hours and ceremonies. There is also a garden oasis adjacent to the hall with perennial flowers and trees. Inside, brass chandeliers, and a wood ceiling and floors provide a warm ambiance for guests to relish in.
The venue is dedicated to working with couples and providing indoor and outdoor locations for their celebration. The City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation can prepare the venue with seating for up to 150 guests, tables, and a stage. For the outdoor locations, patio furniture and a pergola can be provided for your wedding ceremony. The venue also offers a variety of catering packages designed by local restaurants and has a fridge available for preserving your cake.

AMAZING!!! The staff at Old Town Hall were so accommodating and answered all of our questions in a timely fashion. The building has two floors and we utilized both. The front entra...
nce of the building was under construction but we were offered a generous discount for this. The inside of the building was totally accessible. This place had a warm cozy feel to it with beautiful lighting. We got married in the upstairs library area and had our reception downstairs. I can't recommend Old Town Hall and there amazing staff enough.
My wedding at the Old Town Hall last weekend was everything I could have dreamed! The venue was such a perfect fit for our personalities. I feel like so many other wedding venues s...
eem really fancy and nice but have a... coldness to them. This place felt warm, cozy, inviting, and historic in an accessible way. The big appeal to having a wedding here? GETTING MARRIED IN A LIBRARY! The ceremony space is stunning with so much natural light.
The front of the building is currently under construction. When we toured the venue, Brianne (who was lovely) told us that it may still be under construction when we had our 2022 wedding, but that if it was, we could get a discount on the space. We went ahead with it and we are glad we did. The construction just blocked off the front entrance, but all of the interior space was usable, and there was a beautiful garden and patio for outdoor photos. The discount they gave us more than made up for it!
The building is accessible for people with disabilities-- there is a ramp at the back entrance and elevators inside. This was a concern of mine when touring a historic building, so I was happy to learn it was updated. There are a few cool little treasures in there: the gorgeous baby grand piano and the buffet table that was said to belong to President James Buchanan. The oval shaped windows are so gorgeous and unique. And of course, all of the antique books! I cannot wait to see my photos.
Kaveh was the main person I communicated with when planning the wedding and he was wonderful-- attentive and kind and clear about how things worked. The staff at the venue was great, setting up and taking down all the chairs and tables according to a diagram I sent them the week before. We had about 90 guests and that seemed ideal for the space. The whole center of the reception room was a dance floor with 5 tables on either side and a buffet table at the head of the room.
A few things to take into consideration if you get married here: If you don't have a DJ, there is an audio hookup in the reception space but it's not great sound quality. We rented some speakers from Guitar Center that were not expensive and played the music off of a laptop and it sounded great. There is a catering kitchen, but talk to your caterers in advance about if they'll need you to pay for 'early dropoff' at the venue because that's an extra charge that needs to be booked in advance. I didn't and the caterers made it work but it wasn't ideal for them. Also, don't use any tape or tacks when putting up decorations and don't use real flower petals for the flower girls, but they're very clear with you about that stuff.
Our wedding was very DIY, but the comfortable elegance of the Old Town Hall meant we didn't need much in the way of decor. The whole day was a dream come true and I hope to attend (or book) another event there some day!
We got married at Old Town Hall last summer (well before COVID, thankfully) and we cannot say enough good things about the venue. First of all, it is stunningly beautiful – the woo...
d floors and antique windows make the entire space feel light and airy, and the wood beams, pillars, and chandeliers add elegance and grace. As if that weren’t enough, the upstairs where we had our ceremony is a beautiful little library (*swoon*) with a small, private room in the back, all of which gets incredible natural light. There’s also a great courtyard with a gazebo and a sweet garden in the back, which were lovely spaces for our cocktail hour. All of these spaces provided stunning background for our photos. Because it’s a historic building there are some restrictions with decorations, but the staff were super helpful throughout our planning process and on the day of our wedding, so we were able to make the space look exactly how we’d hoped. The staff themselves were also all superstars. We visited the space four times, including during a very thorough walk-through, and the day before our wedding day to drop off supplies. We also emailed them with questions about our alcohol permit and vendor inquiries. Each and every time, Old Town Hall staff went above and beyond to make sure we had what we and our coordinators needed to make our wedding go off without a hitch, and they did so with incredible hospitality and kindness. And on the day of our wedding, they worked so hard alongside our coordinators to make sure every transition was seamless and every item we needed was available to us. The staff really blew us away. We absolutely loved having our wedding at Old Town Hall and we highly recommend it to anyone who’s considering it as their wedding venue.
Fantastic! Great service, great value, absolutely gorgeous!
The personnel here work with you to ensure they arrange the rooms the way you want.
We had an open bar with cocktail hour on the first floor; went to the 2nd floor for the event an...
d then back down for dinner; meanwhile the DJ set up for dancing until closing. Great location, plenty of parking, a kitchenette, a room to get food dressed, plenty of restrooms, an elevator and ramp access to the building, personnel helpful. All produced a very successful event. I highly recommend them.
We loved the Old Town Hall as our ceremony and reception venue. The building is not "fancy" but is historic and beautiful. The Fairfax parks employees who worked with us to do our ...
reservation and table/chair layout really took pleasure in their work. It was definitely DIY so keep that in mind (they set up tables, chairs, and tablecloths, but everything else is up to you). We had friends not in our wedding party do our more personalized setup and it worked out great. Overall OTH was the perfect venue for our wedding!
We held our wedding at Old Town Hall in October 2018. We used upstairs for our cocktail hour and ceremony, and we used the downstairs for our luncheon reception. All of our guests ...
raved about what a beautiful venue Old Town Hall is.
We cannot say enough amazing things about Brianne, Noah, and the entire team at Old Town Hall. They were incredible leading up to the wedding and were very prompt to respond to our calls and emails. Brianne gave us lots of great ideas and guidance to make the rooms work for our vision. The staff was wonderful on the day of our wedding when dealing with one of our vendors who caused a number of issues. We highly recommend Old Town Hall.
This venue was the perfect choice for my wedding! I am so glad I found them early on. They worked well with us and helped plan out seating. The day of staff was helpful and all the...
tables and chairs both up and downstairs were set up upon my arrival. Everything flowed so smoothly and I loved every second of it.

or for a cocktail hour and the lower floor for the dinner and dancing. All of the employees there are great to work with and helped us figure out how to lay out the tables on both floors. We were provided with a computer drawing of how everything would look so we knew what to expect. We would definitely recommend Fairfax Old Town Hall to anyone getting married in the area!
The Old Town Hall is an absolutely adorable venue that I would recommend to anyone! We worked mostly with Brianne, who is extremely experienced, professional, and helpful in every ...
way. She answers emails promptly and immediately. She just understands stressed-out brides and knows how to handle them. Better yet is that all of the staff is extremely kind and helpful.
The things I loved about the Old Town Hall was the vintage and historical feeling of the building- wooden columns, creaky old stairs, bookshelves lining the upstairs hall, etc.- it has a charm about it that all of our guests adored!
Another positive was that the Town Hall had it all- a garden/lawn area out back for photos or lawn games if you want (no croquet, you aren't allowed to put stakes in the ground), and an indoor space with excellent air conditioning (when the big storm blew out all of the generators, the Town Hall was a "cooling center"- this is how we know we chose the right place for the hottest summer ever!). It is a lovely little haven of a venue in the midst of a bustling city and area.
Drawbacks were only the size of the place, but that was because we tried to accomodate 160 people in a buffet-style dinner. It was a little awkward handling the lines for the buffet, but our guests were happy as clams and didn't seem to mind. We seated younger guests upstairs during dinner, and they stood along the wall downstairs during the highlights like dancing, cake cutting, etc. If your guest count is under 100, its the PERFECT venue for you- you can have your cocktail hour upstairs and move downstairs for dinner. They can fit 150 seated dinner style, but there's really not enough room for servers and no dance floor. We had 100 downstairs and 60 upstairs and kept the dance floor and it was a great idea! One idea is to have dancing upstairs- we didn't do this, but I almost wish we had so that that would leave the downstairs for a noise-free environment to chat. That's what the garden could be used for, but people didn't really know about it.
The bridal "suite" upstairs is just a tiny room, so keep that in mind when you plan to change- there's really only room for the bride and all of the bridesmaids "stuff". I brought my own mirror for photos. I didn't have my ceremony there, but I took my pre-ceremony photos there and the windows upstairs provide such lovely lighting that we didn't have to even go outside where it was hot to take our photos.
Two last drawbacks: paying by the hour after the 6 hour downpayment gets expensive fast. Also, there are a lot of other small fees that can get you if you aren't careful, like the piano being uncovered. Lastly, the historical setting limits how much you can do: no sparklers, candle limits, decorating limits, and these ugly paintings and curtains can't be changed. However, we worked around it and it looked GREAT, so just get creative! Google images from Town Hall weddings and enjoy!
These adorable art flats are also upstairs, and in my opinion you can be very creative with them. We used them to string family photos and also made a photobooth.
Overall, I was so happy with our choice. Adorable location. You can't beat the AC. I was sold when I visited in December with the twnikle lights, snow, and Christmas decorations- so it would make a great winter wedding location as well!
This is a fabulous venue if you want your ceremony and reception all in one place. Upstairs has a library of sorts and art pallets that can be strategically moved for decor. Downst...
airs has a beautiful room with plenty of space for a Berger table, dance floor and seating for 100 guests. All of it has wooden beams an a warm cozy feeling. BEWARE, however, to be very clear on the times you can access the hall for set up, and unfortunate they rent upstairs and downstairs separately, so be cautious on timing for coordinating things.
This venue was great! Brianne was incredibly helpful throughout our planning. Be careful with your guest list, though - you can really only have about 100-108 for a seated dinner i...
f you want a dance floor. We ended up with about 108 and it worked fine - any more than that and it would have been too tight. The accoustics were a bit of a challenge - it was difficult to hear the music during dinner, but once the dancing began it was no problem! I would also recommend to pay the extra to book the upstairs for cocktails - having separate areas for appetizers and dinner made the event all the smoother. Having our wedding in December was also great - the city and the hall were decorated very tastefully and cost us nothing!
The Old Town Hall in Fairfax is a great place to hold a ceremony! They were very helpful and it's such a beautiful historic building. You have your choice depending on the size of ...
your wedding if you want it in the upstairs library or the downstairs hall. I highly recommend this place!

h is called the Huddleson Memorial Library, and was just so beautiful with its shelves of books, hardwood floors, cathedral ceiling and tall windows. Laura Lister is the contact person at OTH and she is absolutely wonderful to work with -- very professional, timely with replies and information, accommodating, and just such a pleasant person to deal with.
I cannot say enough good things about this venue. One thing to note is that this venue is actually located in Fairfax, VA and not in Alexandria as the above information may suggest.
It is a historic building that set such a beautiful setting for our wedding. High ceilings original look of a 1700's building it was gorgeous. The staff is untouchable they made...
