Within hours, I received an email with detailed information about her services and options. For my hair and makeup trial, I initially wanted the "glow glam" sleek bun look that was trending on social media. However, after Tina perfected it on me, I realized it wasn't quite the right fit. Instead, I opted for a more natural, understated look that felt truer to myself for the big day. Tina was so receptive to feedback, offering valuable advice on what would work best. Logistically, the schedule was tricky with a tea ceremony in the afternoon and our wedding ceremony later that day. But Tina ensured everything ran smoothly by sticking to an early morning start time (6:30am!), with buffer time built in, so we were all ready for the 1pm festivities. My bridesmaids and moms couldn’t stop raving about the attention to detail and how thrilled they were with their makeup! I was beyond happy with my final makeup and hair. Both stayed in place beautifully all day, even through the emotional moments. I only needed to touch up my lipstick a couple of times. to describe it is pretty difficult. Let's just say she has been part of different weddings parties and the look she was provided was a bit off. It was heavier on the make up and it felt ' caked on' and where there was too much product. She didn't have a great experience, so trying to find a HMUA for our wedding make it a bit more stressful to find someone who 1) matched our style 2) understood asian skin tones and 3) matched our vibe. My wife's skin is pretty much perfect to begin with, but we wanted to make sure to enhance certain parts without it feeling heavy. I, on the other hand, have terrible skin (sorry!) so I felt like that was going to be the major challenge for them. Leading up to the day, Tina was very professional: she provided true insight, gave us prompt responses, and reassured us on how much coverage was actually needed. I was a bit focused on the logistics and all the timings she provided were perfect. We ended up with 2 HMUAs for the bride, sister of the bride, mother of the bride, and myself. On the day of, Lyndsey and Heather arrived 20 minutes early to make sure they could set up and we ready for us at the exact time. No one was running late, but even then, we had buffer space to work with - we were actually 20 minutes early for our ceremony! They were also matching our vibe and we felt reassured. We started the day off perfectly and in a good mood and that carried us through to the ceremony and reception. I can't thank Lyndsey and Heather enough. Normally, one would talk about how beautiful the dress / suit / decor / florals were, but I think both my wife and I were just incredibly impressed with how our hair and make up came out. We were partying and sweating and none of it came off! My wife still talks about her make up to this day! LOL! Again, I will die on a hill and say Tina and her team were the best part of the day and were 1000% worth it. We know how important the role of a HMUA is, but they went above and beyond for us.

After we had to tweak our wedding day timeline a few months before the wedding, there were some time conflicts that I did not catch but Tina immediately alerted me and suggested to start the session earlier to make sure we had enough time to finish in time for pictures. Tina was so meticulous and detailed about my makeup & hair and asked questions about things I never thought of to make sure she provides the best final look I’m looking for. Even when I sometimes didn’t know how to explain exactly what I wanted, she was able to match the exact vision (honestly even better) than what I was looking for. She made sure to spend enough time on both my makeup and hair to make sure I was completely satisfied. She’s truly a magician because she knew how to naturally enhance my features and made me feel confident and beautiful without feeling like I was caked in makeup. Her makeup and hair lasted all day and night, and I was shocked how well my updo held up because I had to insert and take out a large hairpiece straight through my bun multiple times for our Korean traditional ceremony outfit change. Tina also did my husband’s hair and he was absolutely satisfied with the result which was a huge compliment from someone who’s so much more picky about hair. My mom, my mother in law and all of my 6 bridesmaids were very content and happy with their makeup and/or hair by Tina and Lyndsey. Even with so many people, Tina and Lyndsey finished perfectly in time. It definitely relieved a lot of stress for me on my wedding day having such a reliable artist. Tina and her team’s services are 100% worth the price and I highly highly recommend them to everyone! After our wedding, one of my bridesmaids decided to book Tina for her own wedding next year so I’m so excited to see Tina and her team again but as a bridesmaid this time!

It's highlighting your best features and minimizing flaws without getting too overboard. I felt very good during the wedding day, and the makeup lasted through 95 degree weather and up to midnight. My mom, mother in law and bridal party were also very pleased with the results. They had all praises for Heather and her technique. I rated them a four because of overall affordability, they are NOT cheap! But I will say worth the money for the results!

They also did an amazing job doing make up for our mother's and friends - subtle but again, picture perfect. Although these women are the “junior artists” of the studio, they are seasoned pros who know exactly how to make their clients… shine lol. The booking process was easy because the team was quick to respond to our questions about what each service included/didn’t include and was transparent with prices, timing, and realistically meeting our needs. On the day of, Heather and Lindsey arrived at the hotel 15 minutes early to set up and promptly begin at the scheduled time. They were just the right mix of friendly and professional to make us feel comfortable and taken care of. I’ve had my hair and makeup done professionally countless times for friends’ weddings and it has never been good, so I was nervous, but boy did they deliver. None of us put on makeup or do our hair regularly and none of us had any ideas as to how we wanted to look, so we were grateful for their expertise and guidance. Both Lindsey and Heather provided helpful suggestions but were also open to our deviations. None of us were used to the amount of makeup and hair products required and were therefore hesitant at first, but after a while we got used to the feeling and it was worth it for the photos–I have never looked better! My mom speaks primarily Korean, so it was a treat for her to be able to speak with Lindsey and Heather in her native tongue; my mother in law is Chinese, but she did not feel any less comfortable or welcomed by Lindsey and Heather. My hair was medium length and thin, my mom’s hair was a permed mass of unruly curls, and my mother in law’s hair was thick, long, and straight–all three of the low buns that Lindsey adorned on our heads were classy and clean. I asked for a few wispy bangs down the sides, and Lindsey cut my hair to give me just that (a gift that keeps on giving as they add a little flair to my usually plain hair today). My sister has long, wavy hair, which Lindsey groomed into perfectly voluminous and non-frizzy waves. Aside from one of my fake eyelashes fighting for its life at the end of the night, all of our makeup and hair stayed put–and that’s even with me crying like a baby during the hot outdoor ceremony!

e is scary as someone who's never had it done before, but she really calms you down during the trial session. You can tell that she's a professional at what she does and knows exactly what she's talking about, and she personalizes everything exactly to suit you. I recommend doing the hair and makeup trial! Tina also offered tips on what to prepare for for the wedding day so you'll know exactly what to expect. On our wedding day, she and Linda set up so fast and got straight to work (so professional!) Even after not seeing me for a year, she knew exactly what I needed. TRUST THEIR TEAM! It was a rainy day and they talked me into an updo which was the best idea ever since it stayed all day and night and looked sooo elegant. She and Linda was able to prep us, our parents, and our MoH who was Indian, so they're able to work on not just east Asians! Our parents are also new to makeup and don't speak English well, but Tina and Linda were so patient and great at communicating with them so I didn't have any worries about that at all! Our makeup stayed on all day, showed up really nicely on pictures, and all we needed was a lip touch up. Tina and her team will make you feel absolutely gorgeous! Also, as a very acne prone person, I had no breakouts after the day!!

and boy, did she execute everything perfectly. My 7 bridesmaids were all of different ethnicities (Caucasian, East Asian, and South Asian), with different features, but they made them all beautiful. Tina and her team are a very well oiled machine. I could not believe in less than 30 minutes, they set up 4 stations and also breaking down. Her junior artists are by no means junior either. They are incredibly talented. Tina and her team are 10000% worth it.

The team was working on quite a short timeline, but was so calm and collected that what could have been a stressful morning ended up being a bit more relaxed and definitely fun. We were especially impressed that the hairstyles lasted the whole wedding day through dancing and everything! If I could make a recommendation to anyone thinking about Shine, Tina! studio for their wedding, it would be to definitely do the hair/makeup trial in advance. It's objectively a little pricey, but so worth it. During the trial Tina and Linda discussed what styles I would want, tried out different products, and took into consideration any likes/dislikes and even skin sensitivities that I have. I was surprised at just how many details they remembered the day of! Lastly, I would say my favorite thing about working with this team is that they will offer their professional recommendations if you need, but they're also so dedicated to creating a look that you love. When I brought up questions about things that I wasn't sure would work well, they would show me different options and explain their reasoning but leave the decision totally up to me. There was no pressure to go with anything other than what I liked the most. If I ever need hair and makeup done for anything, I would one hundred percent come back to this team!

Their color matching and ability to flatter features is unmatched. I was blown away! They treat makeup and hair as a true art, and it shows in the quality of their work. - Very open to feedback. Everyone has preferences, and they were open to feedback and incorporated it so well, without any judgement. This is huge and I appreciated this so much. They are just lovely people inside and out, and want you to feel your best the day of, which was wonderful. - Flexible and very good communicators. I was able to schedule and adjust as needed very quickly and easily. Lyndsey was absolutely incredible with everything. That said, I had a wonderful experience with the trial (Tina and Lyndsey were both present) which I think helped hone my preferences so I highly recommend that. I also scheduled a brow session as well (Tina is a brow queen) a couple days before my wedding and loved it all! 10/10, highly recommend!

My advice for brides after their trial is to send their feedback to Tina since everyone has a different makeup preference. I really appreciate that Tina and her team were very open to adjusting the look to make me happy on that day!

With this being said, I am extremely thankful I invested in a hair and makeup trial beforehand. Tina is incredibly skilled with her makeup work. Although I was happy overall with the trial, there were some components that I personally wanted to tweak for the wedding day. To my pleasant surprise, Tina was on the same page as me with my requests, and she even made some other helpful suggestions as well. She truly is an expert and really cares about her clients. Linda styled my hair into an effortless updo that was both romantic and clean, just as I had requested. Though we had to try a few different styles at my trial to find the right fit, I was extremely pleased with my hair on the wedding day. Linda is a perfectionist in the best possible way. There wasn’t a single hair out of place, and she took so much care in ensuring that I would look pristine walking down the aisle. We also chose to do the makeup and hair touch ups for my husband. Though only a short time was blocked for each of his services, Tina and Linda still took care in making him look extra handsome and camera ready! Overall, we are very thankful to have worked with Tina and Linda, as they are true experts in their fields and work with their clients to ensure their happiness.

I booked her for mine! Despite rescheduling my wedding 3x thanks to COVID, Tina remained flexible and accommodating. Prior to my wedding, I had booked a trial with Tina and Linda. I could tell then that they were true experts in their field, as they recommended various makeup and hair styles that I had not thought about. They also made me feel super comfortable with their awesome sense of humor. I left the trial with lots of thought and soul searching to do for my final look! Then, on the day of my wedding, they were the first ones there. As soon as I sat in that chair, I knew I had literally nothing to worry about. Both Tina and Linda had studied my style, facial structure, and preferences leading up to the wedding. And the final look that they created was an actual dream come true. I couldn’t help smiling and exclaiming as they put the finishing touches on both my hair and makeup. I might also add that I have pretty fine hair AND microbladed eyebrows, so I knew I was not their easiest feat. But without one single complaint, they made miracles happen and they UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT 100%. I will also add that I had 5 bridesmaids and my mother, who also got hair & makeup done by Tina & Linda, and they all looked GORGEOUS. She also was very responsive and professional, and greatly helped minimize the stress of wedding planning by coming up with a personalized schedule/timeline and offering her professional expertise throughout our consultation. She and her team were extremely focused on hygiene with their products, which was also a concern of mine as a Covid bride, but my bridal party and I all felt highly comfortable with their technique. She and her team were an absolute must for our day!
