The Shire in the Woods is a magical place! We had our wedding here, and it was the best day of our lives! It was great that the wedding party could stay in the cabins, and the Octa...
gon cabin was a great central indoor spot for everyone to hang out (in addition to the middle circle, outdoors). Michael was very kind and considerate and helpful throughout. He answered any questions quickly and made sure we had what we needed for everything to go smoothly.
Everything about the Shire in the Woods and working with Michael is what you should hope for in a wedding venue.
We had several families staying for the weekend, and Michael and ...
his family ensured everyone at every cabin had what they needed. They set up all the tents for us before we got there and let us set up the ceremony and reception spaces however we wanted. He was very flexible and easy to get a hold of when needed. Whether we were dealing with food stuff or bathrooms, Michael was very helpful and accommodating to whatever we needed.
The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, quiet, and comfortable. The night sky in June was one of the loveliest we've ever seen, and the animals were tons of fun for everyone (especially kids). There were also trails winding throughout the property so guests could hike around and explore. We highly recommend the Smaug Island loop. Michael also set up a volleyball net for us which saw plenty of use over the weekend.
It rained during our ceremony, but we were able to fit all the chairs inside the tent resulting in a cozy candle-lit ceremony with the gentle whisper of rain outside. It was probably better than if we had had in our original spot.
Clean up was simple and straightforward when all was said and done, with Michael and his family doing most of the heavy lifting. Made me feel kind of lazy, tbh. We also accidentally stole the table cloths on our way out and he was super chill about that.
We couldn't recommend the Shire enough and hope to continue visiting for our own getaways.
Pure Magic. My partner and I had our wedding at the Shire and it was perfect! Most guests stayed onsite and Michael & crew were so enjoyable to work with - truly wonderful hosts. T...
he cabins, event tent, bbqs, bonfire, and grounds were pristine, our island ceremony absolutely unforgettable.
This place is special, I'm so grateful our original location fell through and we stumbled upon it. If you find yourself at the Shire, it was meant to be.
