and excited about getting married there. We decided to postpone in June 2020 due to Covid. Jan 2021 I tried getting back in contact with the original event coordinator and couldnt reach her, she wasnt answering calls, /texts/emails. It was a probably Mar when I finally got in contact with her and something seemed off. She wasn't at all helpful. Phone calls/messages/emails were still not responded to and if they were it was a very generic response. She didn't seem like she cared nor wanted to help! I had seen on a wedding group for the KC metro area that another bride getting married at Shoal Creek in Aug had to find a caterer due to them losing their chef and GM. Which I did not hear that from the them. When I messaged the event coordinator to ask how things were and to set up a tasting she didn't answer until the middle of May. We had set up a meeting to go to the venue to decide on a tasting and check up on things. That's when the coordinator told us that they didn't have a chef or a GM. But they were going to try and find one. Told us not to worry they had 2 or 3 chefs they were looking into and would be hiring one of them.. we did not hear back from her until June. When she told us that they were not getting a chef anytime soon and all the weddings through the end of the year would need to get their own caterer. She also told us Shoal Creek didn't have enough money to do everything that was in the contract. She did not seem like she wanted to be there, do her job or help in any way. We started to look for a caterer to serve almost 200 people. We found one. Everything was good. Jump to Aug and I get a phone call and an email from the new event coordinator stating that if we didn't put down more money our date was going to another bride. And that she couldn't find our deposit. She then informed that the original event coordinator was no longer working there. She finally found our deposit. She also was not good and answering phone calls or emails. We set up a meeting a few weeks later. She seemed confused like she didn't know what was going on or what to do. Everything we were told we would get and that was in our original contract she tried to go against. They tried charging a lot more money since we had to get a new caterer. They also tried charging us for stuff we were getting for free. Since we weren't getting food through the venue our price for the night went down and they told us we were going to have to pay per hour to be there. (That didn't happen). Come the day of the wedding the event coordinator wasn't even there (she had told us at the rehearsal she wasn't going to be there). When we arrived to the venue the wedding morning the golf staff were rude! We had to ask for a drink station in the room we were getting ready in.. During the wedding there was no staff at all. Besides the GM and Bar manager. The bar manager was as helpful as he could be but there were plenty of times the line to the bar was so long it was outside to the patio. The drinks were fine, no one complained. But there was no staff to help bus tables when needed. There was no staff to begin with to help throughout the night. It was a great wedding but what we went through with Shoal Creek I would never have another event there! But it through all the crazy! It was a perfect night!
