We loved their cakes so much we used up going with 3 different flavors. It’s all natural, so no gross fondant. Our tiered cake turned out beautiful and the peaches and cream flavor was perfect for our July Asheville wedding!

e cake, 2 types of hand pies,mini cupcakes and gluten free/vegan large cupcakes totallinf 78 cupcakes for our Oct. 6, 2018 wedding. On the day of the wedding they were running very late, late enough in fact that they delivered during the ceremony so I, the bride, was not able to check to see what was delivered. Come the reception I see that we only had our cake (which was also gluten free as I am allergic to wheat) and only the hand pies. However, only about half of the hand pies were out. When I asked our day of planner she told me that the remaining pies had been dropped off unfrosted with just bags of frosting and that none of the cupcakes had been delievered. With missing the cupcakes it prohibited approx 10+ of my guests from enjoying dessert. I reached out to the bakery a few days after the wedding with a very nice email because you never know what could have occurred. I got back a very short, uncaring email which did not explain what had happened. Just a short Sorry and saying that they would put a check in the mail for the missing cupcakes. I wrote back explaining that I am in the wedding business (photographer) and I understand that things happen but that I felt as though I should at least be told what had happened. It turns out that they had delivered our cupcakes to another wedding and went on to say that they just didn't have time to go pick them up and bring them to my wedding. Again, what we did receive was great but I'm so extremely disappointed that 1. what was delivered was not completed 2. they did not feel the need to contact me to alert me as to what had happened or tell my day of planner when they were delievered. 3. By the curt manner in which the emails were delievered.

very specific design. We got everything we wanted and the display was absolutely stunning. Be careful if your wedding is outdoors as ours started to droop on one side (it was very hot!). Delicious cake!

the difference. We thought we knew what flavor we wanted, but after sampling the flavors we decided to go with more than one because they were all delicious. Our guests even said it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. We highly recommend Short Street Cakes- they will make your wedding cake vision come true!

Andrea was super accommodating even after I changed my mind for the millionth time. We loved that they offered vegan and gluten-free options, and they only use natural ingredients. I can't recommend them highly enough! P.S. Get the Strawberry Short Street - our favorite!!

We really enjoyed how much Short Street knew about weddings in Asheville and we picked their brains a little bit during the planning process. They made us feel confident that our cake would be perfect and not something we would have to worry about at all. So happy with our decision to use Short Street Cakes for our wedding and can’t wait to eat our anniversary cake in a year!

Our tasting was cancelled last minute after double-checking the scheduling and traveling fro Texas, our order never seemed to be filed properly, and we had to call multiple times to inquire about its status. As a result, we had a backup in place. In the end, we heard that old manager was dismissed and the store owner personally managed our wedding dessert order from that point on.

fter going to a few other places to try their cake, we were still in that mindset. However, when my husband tasted Short Street Cakes, he asked if we could have a cake buffet at our wedding. IT IS THAT GOOD! So that's what we did. They were helpful and accommodating and even managed a seamless transition when switching owners. Our cakes were decorated beautifully and tasted amazing. In fact, we actually had a LINE of guests waiting to try the various cakes on our buffet; a first for the venue and my wedding planner. Thank you so much Short Street Cakes for making our wedding so sweet!

e way. They gave us enough to taste for 4 plus people including coffee, and all their flavors were very unique and so delicious! They sat down with us and went over all our options in detail and did everything they could to help us stay within our budget. The staff there were all really friendly. Communication throughout the whole process was quick and easy. For the big day, they came in and set everything up for us with no problems at all. Everything came out exactly how we wanted it to and it was all so yummy! We had plenty left over to enjoy for the next several days! If you're looking for something unique and flavorful for your event, you have got to consider Short Street Cakes! Or if you're just strolling through Asheville, I would highly recommend stopping by their shop!

e cupcakes. This was a mistake. While the cupcakes were tasty, everything else about this vendor was a mess. They were rude when we came in to do the tasting, they were not upfront about how many cupcakes we were getting for the cost, they originally made our contract out for the wrong wedding date, Jess didn't answer emails frequently, and then when we asked for mini cupcakes they gave us full size ones. The cupcakes are good and were very pretty, but not worth what we paid for them, especially considering how badly they messed up our order (we wanted 250 mini cupcakes with 30 of them being vegan and got 100 normal sized cupcakes with 30 of them being vegan. Also, they changed the flavors, which I don't mind but I wish they had told us, the chalkboards we made for the display ended up being totally incorrect).

We chose our cake flavor, paid our down payment on a cake that would feed 80-100 wedding guests that same day and provided them with a photo of the cake design we would like! 8 months go by of more wedding planning, and we have about a week to go before our wedding! At this point, we are being contacted for last minute details by every vendor we have signed contracts with! However we hear nothing from Short Street! I then send out an email to Jess and Jodi that we would like to finish paying off our balance owed! She told me to call and we could do a over the phone payment! After paying off the balance, I was asked if I would like to leave a tip! Naturally I said no I would rather do this at the wedding because, correct me if I'm wrong, but tips are based on services! Why would I provide a tip before I even see or taste our cake?! Two days later, I receive an email from the shop asking "Which flavors did you decide on for the tiered cake?" --- this was discussed and a contract was signed on our first meeting to their shop when we paid our down payment-- I thought this was strange that they hadn't even contacted us to find out what flavor we wanted (that is if they truly didn't know)! I politely answer that we had agreed upon the raspberry almond! The next day I get an email saying "Could you resend me the photo of the cake for us to use for inspiration?" So here they are... A few days before our wedding and they don't know the flavor we picked or the cake design???? Apparently they had misplaced all this information but when I called to pay off my balance, they certainly remembered how much I owed!! And to beat it all they hadnt even contacted me asking the questions- I understand losing information.. Mistakes happen.. However I'm not sure what would have happened if I didn't contact them first! And then for this shop to ask for a tip when they didn't even KNOW what kind of cake they were to be making??! Very disappointing and unprofessional! The only good thing I can say about my experience with short street bakery is that their cakes are delicious. I would love to give them credit and promote them, but unfortunately their performance at my wedding and mistakes outweighs the taste of the cake! I would not recommend them to my friends! Our cake didn't even look like the picture we had given the staff to go by! Sadly, I must say that I regret the decision of signing a contract with his bakery! The deliciousness of the cake just cannot beat the stress, frustration and dissappointment my husband and I dealt with from this vendor!!!!!

d lots of wedding cake that looks beautiful but tastes stale so I was nervous just as anyone would be. When I booked with them, they assured me that my cake would be made fresh and like I said I have already eaten their product several times and I know its delicious. But on the day of the wedding- the cake was such a hit! It was fresh, moist and delicious! We have also have dietary restrictions, so we requested non-dairy (vegan) cakes and wow! they tasted just as good as any cake I've ever had. They have really perfected their craft- they are an artisan bakery and they will take great care of you. Don't waste any more time... hire Short Street! You won't regret it!

hey were! In fact, the only bite I had was when we did the cake cutting! Everyone loved the cakes and nearly every bit was devoured by our guests. Their prices are reasonable and you have the option of ordering from their menu and having them deliver and you do your own set up. They charge a delivery fee, but we did save a little money doing our own set up. They do have good rates if you want to do a tasting and have them set up at location… which I probably would have done if we were doing a big tiered cake. We simple had 5 single cakes so I knew we could set them up ourself.

doing what they love. Originating from Atlanta GA, it was critical that we identify the best local vendor at our destination wedding location in Asheville. We sought a business with staff who were open to creative ideas, able to communicate effectively long-distance, and of course, have the sweetest creations for our special day. From our original scheduling for a tasting in Asheville- which by the way was done last minute weekend of by the Bride - we were instantly taken care of and had a plan of action executed by a friendly, creative baker and cake artist, Jessica. Before meeting her, we had discussed via email and phone the wide variety of flavors. Listening to our opinions and ideas, she helped us decide the perfect flavors and arrangement for the Wedding. One of the reasons we chose Short Street (and ultimately hired!) was their "homemade" approach and use of "tried/true" recipes for their cake creations. We knew we DID NOT WANT the "factory/manufactured" bridal magazine confections with unedible fondant or towering layers. Jessica and her colleagues were open to our needs for specific dietary restrictions (our guests included vegan, vegetarian palates) as well as a NEW fun ways to design the ever-popular "cupcake wedding cake" instead of a traditional wedding cake. For our wedding we had a 6" cake designed for cutting (Aunt Tissy's Italian Cream Cake), surrounded by mini-cupcakes of the same Italian Cream Cake, and Vegan Chocolate with Peanut Butter Icing. This was arranged in the shape of a galaxy similar to an image we had framed sitting on the table. It was INCREDIBLE! Using icing, sprinkles, and other cake decorating artistry, Jessica made our "galaxy" come to life. It was almost too pretty to eat - but we and our guests devoured all of it! Customer Service, Food Quality, Design, and Professionalism were ALL 5 stars!!! We would recommend using Short Street if you want UNIQUE, FUN, and SUPER-CREATIVE as a part of your wedding celebration.

We did a small 6 inch for our wedding cake and then several flavors for mini cupcakes to be served to our guests. They even laid them out in a design of our last name initial by request and it turned out perfect! Highly recommend them, their cakes are beyond delicious!

rt Street was they completely forgot the groom's cake and instead of refunding back the money, they sent a replacement cake (not at all what the groom had asked for) and a $25 refund. All in all, they make beautiful, tasty cakes but I would rather a full refund for the missing cake then to send something no one wanted and refund.

t Cakes and we stopped into the store about an hour before they closed on a Monday afternoon. We were greeted by a wonderful woman (Anna Cox) who surprised us by saying that she was the wedding cake coordinator (kismet!). She pulled some cupcakes and slices of cake from the counter and gave us an impromptu cake testing. We chose the Lavender White cake, ordered it, and exchanged contact information. A week later the deposit was paid and the contract signed. They delivered the cake to The Grove Park Inn, sprinkled some flowers on it and it looked AWESOME. Everyone ate the cake as desert in our meal and we received copious compliments on it. On our one month anniversary we had a slice of the cake (it had been kept in our refrigerator following the wedding) and it was still tasty. To be honest I don't usually like eating cake, but I absolutely LOVED our wedding cake!

When we met with them for a tasting, they were very enthusiastic and offered a cake buffet in lieu of traditional sheet cakes (in addition to a cutting cake). This was a great idea and our guests loved it! They loved having choice, and the presentation was wonderful. We left loose flowers and a cake topper for Short Street to decorate with and the result was a simple, elegant, "natural" result. If you want a modern, fondant-covered, elaborately decorated cake, this is not the place for you. But if you want fresh homemade lemon curd and fresh strawberry buttercream frosting, then THIS is the place for you!
