Sasha Mereu is the co-founder of Silk & Shadows and the officiant behind many of our most heartfelt wedding ceremonies. His background is anything but ordinary, which is exactly why his ceremonies feel so personal, grounded, and memorable. Before co-founding Silk & Shadows, Sasha spent years immersed in creative and performance driven work. He studied and performed magic, including time working with members of The Illusionists, where he learned how to hold an audience with presence, clarity, and intention. Those same skills now help him guide couples through emotional moments with calm confidence. Sasha is an artist and a creative. He works in both digital and traditional painting, and he is the creator of the audio series Magoosh Medrek the Vampire Hunter, a project that blends storytelling, character, and atmosphere. His love of narrative plays a major role in how he writes ceremonies and helps couples craft vows that feel authentic and deeply personal. Music is another part of Sasha's creative life. He plays lead guitar in the punk band United Defiance, which adds yet another layer to the expressive, empathetic way he approaches weddings. Whether he is writing a ceremony, supporting a couple through their vows, or standing with them on their wedding day, Sasha brings the same sense of connection, rhythm, and heartfelt energy that he brings to his art and music. As an officiant, Sasha focuses on sincerity, warmth, and intention. He takes the time to understand each couple's story and creates ceremonies that feel natural, meaningful, and truly reflective of who they are. Some couples want something light and modern. Ava D'Arcy is the co-founder of Silk & Shadows and the creative mind behind the company’s moody, romantic aesthetic. With a background in community management, project management, and workflow design, Ava brings structure, clarity, and artistry to every event. She is known for her steady leadership, attention to detail, and the calm, supportive way she guides clients through the planning process. Before starting Silk & Shadows, Ava spent years building systems, organizing teams, and improving operations for large communities and fast paced environments. This experience shaped her planning style. She creates timelines, communication systems, and workflows that keep events smooth, predictable, and stress free. Clients often say that Ava brings a sense of order and reassurance to the entire journey. Creatively, Ava designed the full visual language of Silk & Shadows. She built the decor collection, developed the floral styling, created the brand imagery, and shaped the dark, cinematic atmosphere people associate with the company. She has a natural eye for color, texture, lighting, and story driven design. For Ava, styling is not only decoration. It is a way to build emotion and presence into a space. Ava also built the full internal structure of Silk & Shadows. She designed the booking process, service packages, planning guides, and client experience from the ground up. Organization is one of her strengths, and she believes that thoughtful systems are one of the most valuable gifts a planner can offer to couples who want their wedding day to feel effortless. As a planner and stylist, Ava creates events that feel intentional, personal, and atmospheric. She cares about every detail, from the overall concept to the smallest candle placement. Whether she is designing a tablescape, coordinating vendors, or supporting a family through a private event, she approaches her work with empathy, creativity, and precision.
